Chapter 1626: Chapter 1626: The Two Most Important People in This Life

Jasmine Yale poked her fluffy little head through the doorway, holding a beautiful plate in her hand.

She had already showered and was wearing a fresh floral pajama, exuding the fragrance of shower gel.

“I brought you a night snack. Didn’t you say you wanted to try the snacks I made?” Jasmine walked in and placed the plate in front of him.

There were several kinds of snacks on the plate, one of each.

Freshly showered, Jasmine’s face was fair and flushed without any makeup.

She wasn’t wearing anything under her pajamas, and as she bent over, Sylvan Cheney had a perfect view down her neckline.

Swallowing, Sylvan Cheney furrowed his brows and took a drag of his cigarette.

“Just leave it here; I’ll try it later.”

“Okay, I won’t disturb your work then, I’ll just leave it here.” Jasmine glanced at the ashtray full of cigarette butts, “Don’t smoke too much; it’s bad for your health.”

“I know.”

She didn’t know what was on his mind tonight that made him smoke so much.

Recently, he hardly smoked at home.

However, this rainy weather truly made people feel gloomy.

Plus… Qingming was approaching.

Jasmine didn’t dare mention Willow Wave City in front of Sylvan, nor did she dare to mention her mother.

She wasn’t sure if she could visit Willow Wave City and see her mother during Qingming in the future, or if… Sylvan would never forgive her family.

She didn’t blame him; the pain of such a massacre was more than anyone could bear.

But, during Qingming, she did miss her mother a bit.

Sylvan and her mother were the two most important people in her life…

Maybe time could wash everything away, or maybe not.

If he couldn’t accept her in the future, she would probably leave obediently.

The days spent together might already be the sweetest memories of her life, which she would cherish carefully.

The study was thick with the smell of smoke, so Jasmine brewed him a cup of hot tea.

“It’s not good to drink coffee at night, so here’s a cup of hot tea. I’ll head back to the bedroom.” Jasmine’s voice was soft and gentle.

“I’ll be working late tonight, so go to sleep first, don’t wait up for me.”

“It’s a bit cold tonight, take care of yourself, don’t catch a cold and don’t work too late. Here, a blanket for you.” Jasmine reached over and grabbed a thick, cream-colored wool blanket from the sofa.

He had been sleeping late these nights, and Jasmine couldn’t help but feel a bit tenderhearted.

“Mm.” Sylvan accepted it, his large hand tousling her hair, “Go to sleep, it’s late.”

Jasmine left the study reluctantly, glancing at him twice before heading to the bedroom on the second floor.

Outside, the rain was relentless, and the wind seemed to grow stronger, raindrops pattering loudly against the window.

The shadows of the trees swayed, and Jasmine straightened the blanket before snuggling in.

Without Sylvan, the bed felt cold, only the pillow still carried the lingering fragrance of Agarwood Fragrance from his body, shadowing her presence.

She could tell Sylvan was a bit down tonight, even though he never showed it on his face, but little details gave him away.

Jasmine hugged the pillow tight, as if she were holding Sylvan.

Qingming season, filled with drizzling rain.

Soon, Jasmine grew sleepy and drifted off.

In the study, Sylvan, however, felt no trace of drowsiness; he sat in the chair, the light casting upon his sharply defined face, his eyes holding a deep and profound gleam.

He rubbed his brow with one hand, while the other rested on the cold surface of the desk.

Time cannot be trimmed, the endless worries.
