Chapter 1602: Chapter 1602: Your Sweet Kitty is in a Relationship Recently
There’s a nutritionist at home, but Mr. Cheney personally oversees the little young master’s three meals a day.
During those three years, Mr. Cheney didn’t live very comfortably, and she could see it plainly.
But every time he looked at the little young master, no matter how bad his mood was, a loving smile would always grace his face.
Sylvan Cheney lowered his head, slicing ribs and green onions, picking out corn, adjusting the flame—his movements were smooth and fluid, like flowing water.
“She’s been through a lot during this time,” Sylvan said faintly, his tone steady, though his eyes were clouded with a deep, somber sheen. The sharp lines of his face remained calm as always.
Indeed, Jasmine had endured much during this period.
He forbade her from going out, and she obediently stayed inside.
He didn’t let her casually call people, and she complied without question.
He made her take medicine, sleep early, and she followed his instructions one by one, except for occasionally being too lazy to wake up early.
She wasn’t someone who enjoyed staying home for long periods; she liked to go out, even if it was just shopping or sipping afternoon tea.
But recently, she had nearly no freedom.
Every day was spent at the Cheney Residence, and even if she went outside, he cleared the area, never giving her the chance to interact with anyone.
“Mr. Cheney, Miss Yale is actually quite happy every day. Sometimes, she chats with me at home.”
“A bird caged in gilded bars, no matter how luxurious the food and clothing, is still no match for freedom,” Sylvan said flatly. “In a few days, I’ll take her to Cakago. Butler Santana, I’ll leave the Cheney Residence to you temporarily. Jasmine and I will return.”
“Alright, I’ll take care of everything,” Butler Santana agreed.
She understood Sylvan Cheney. If he were alone, he could act without restraint, doing whatever he pleased.
But with a family, things were different.
He had to consider not only himself but also his loved ones.
Before dinner.
Jasmine woke up groggily, stirred from sleep by a call.
It was Yukon Carbon.
“Jasmine, haven’t gone back to Cakago yet?”
“Not yet.” Now awake, Jasmine sat up and grasped her phone. On the other end, Yukon’s gentle and calm voice came through. “You’re in Cakago?”
“Back home for a couple of days, I’m here now.”
“How’s work? Is Aunt Camden’s health alright?”
“Everything’s fine. It’s just that after you left, the bakery got busier. Mom hired a few young female students, but none of them were as diligent and capable as you, so she stopped hiring altogether. Today, I called you mostly about something else…” Yukon chuckled softly on the other end. “I wanted to let you know that your Sweet Kitty has been dating recently. She often sneaks out of the bakery, and Mom’s worried about her safety, so she’s been keeping a tighter watch lately.”
“Oh?” Jasmine exclaimed in delight, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “I always thought Sweet Kitty was still a little baby.”
“She’s gained weight recently and has become a bit defiant, dashing around at home, pining for her boyfriend.”
“Is her boyfriend handsome?” Jasmine asked, interest gleaming in her voice as she clung to her phone and chatted with Yukon.
“He’s a sleek little black cat, commanding and regal. Sweet Kitty seems to really like him,” Yukon said, leaning against the wall with his legs crossed, images of Jasmine’s radiant smile floating in his mind now and then. “I was wondering if you’d consider having Sweet Kitty spayed.”
Without even thinking, Jasmine shook her head. “No, let’s go with the natural course of things.”
“Alright, I’ll have Mom keep an eye on her. But if she ends up having a litter of little Sweet Kitties, it might get a bit tricky.”
“It’s no problem, I can afford to raise them,” Jasmine said with a laugh, her eyes shining bright as stars.
