Chapter 251: 251
When Michelle woke up, the pain in her chest had already subsided quite a bit. That meant the wound was healing. Which could only happen if the spike was gone.
Looking down, Michelle saw it was indeed the case.
And she also saw that a hole was in the chest area of her clothes.
But she didn’t care. Her body wasn’t really hers. She was wearing the disguise mask which altered even what her chest looked like. Since her altered appearance was that of Michael Grayson, a teenage boy, her chest looked flat.
"I owe you one this time..." Michelle said as she moved her gaze to Alexander.
Alexander had his signature teasing smile on. "Then how about marrying me to repay the debt?" he joked.
Michelle couldn’t be bothered to react to that. Instead, she gathered soul energy on her hand and let it spread around. When it filled up the room, she had it wrap around Alexander so she could once again cure him of the Void Plague.
Back in the forest, she had infected him with it out of anger, and she wasn’t planning on having him suffer from it forever.
"Do I still owe you now?" She tilted her head, her purple eyes turning black from the void she absorbed.
Alexander shrugged, like he didn’t know. "You were the one who infected me with it... So does it count as repaying the debt?"
Michelle rolled her eyes. If she wasn’t still weak because she had just woken up, she would have sent a punch his way.
Seeing Michelle’s angry face, Alexander felt the urge to annoy her even further. "Now, now! Don’t be angry! You should think about how to repay me instead!"
It wasn’t hard for Michelle to guess that Alexander wouldn’t stop until she did something. And something radical.
So she pushed herself off the bed and walked over to him. She was staggering a bit from weakness, but she didn’t pay it any attention.
"How about this..." Michelle came close to Alexander, who was sitting on a chair, and rested her hands on his shoulders. "Since you want something in return, how about a kiss?" she smiled, her black eyes narrowing into crescents dancing with the light of amusement.
Since Alexander wanted to tease her, she would tease him back.
Alexander’s smile froze for a moment. He was momentarily stunned.
And Michelle used that moment.
Leaning down, she planted a soft, fleeting kiss on Alexander’s lips. One he could barely feel.
Originally, just Alexander’s hands were covered in Michelle’s blood. It was from pulling the spike out.
But when she leaned over to kiss him, the blood from her slowly healing chest dripped down on him, staining his clothes. It was chilly and cold.
After the kiss, Alexander stared back at Michelle in silence, his pupils shrinking.
That widened Michelle’s smile. "Is it because I’m disguised as a boy?" she asked. "You don’t like a boy kissing you?"
With that, she reached to her face and took off the disguise mask.
Instantly, the quite plain face of a young boy transformed into one of transcendent beauty. And with the paleness remaining from being weakened, it added a strange aura to Michelle, drawing others in.
"Will a kiss like this make you happier?" she asked with a tilt of her head.
It had been a while since Alexander had seen that beautiful face. And with how pale it was, Alexander’s gaze darkened a bit. "Sure!" His teasing smile returned. He didn’t really believe Michelle would give him a second kiss.
But Michelle surprised him once again.
Leaning down, she planted another kiss.
Just like the one before, it was soft, like the touch of a feather, but she let it last a moment longer. It was clearly meant to tease Alexander by not giving him a real kiss.
When Michelle pulled back, Alexander grabbed her wrist and pulled her to sit on his lap. "How can you just kiss me like it’s nothing?" He stared at her face.
With how pale her skin was, her eyes were even more striking.
Because of the void she had absorbed, they were black, but some hints of purple were already starting to show. The void was starting to settle down.
Michelle stared back at Alexander. "All assassins are taught the art of seduction!" She smiled.
Alexander raised a brow at that. "Did you use it often?" The idea of Michelle seducing someone made him frown.
Upon seeing Alexander’s frown, Michelle felt like saying that she did use it often. It didn’t matter it wasn’t the truth. She was the kind of person who wouldn’t unnecessarily resort to seduction. Most of the time, she just sneaked up on her target and swiftly killed them.
"Sometimes..." Michelle finally decided to say.
When the single word reached Alexander’s ears, his face darkened. How he wished to go to the world of Michelle’s past life to kill those she had ever seduced.
Michelle saw the darkness on his face and burst out laughing.
The clear sound of her voice resonated through the room, like a melody.
And it made Alexander realize that Michelle was pulling his nose. And he got fooled.
"You fooled me this time!" He put his hands around Michelle and stood up, lifting her up.
Putting her in front of the mirror, he had her look at herself. "You should focus on this for now..." he pointed down to her exposed chest.
When Michelle was still wearing the disguise mask, it couldn’t be seen. The disguise mask was hiding it. But with it gone, she could clearly see the aftereffects of the spikes.
Wherever she could see her skin, there she could spot a black net.
She could see it in the area of the wound and around it. It had also spread to her neck and the bottom of her chin. It was just a few millimeters away from her face.
As for other parts of her body, on her hands, it reached her wrists, and the rest of her body was covered by the clothes.
"How nasty..." Michelle touched her neck, tracing a part of the net.
"Is there a way to remove it?" she turned to Alexander. He was knowledgeable. Maybe he knew something.
But Alexander didn’t have the answer. "Try asking Mavreth. He was the one who created the spike. He must know how to remove the net created by it."
Michelle narrowed her eyes. She wasn’t really in the condition to go seek Mavreth out. But if she didn’t go right away, there was the possibility that once the wound healed, the net would never disappear from her skin.
Michelle wasn’t really the person who would care about her appearance, so the net wouldn’t bother her in that way, but it would still negatively affect her.
Marks like that could easily be used to identify someone.
If she had such a big one on her body, especially visible on her neck, it would be impossible for her to ever again hide her identity.
Anyone who would want to could find out who she was solely based on the mark.
Glancing at Alexander, it was clear what Michelle was thinking. "How about you go call him for me? I can’t really go out like this..." She smiled brightly.
Alexander stared down at Michelle. She really wasn’t in the condition to go anywhere.
Snapping his fingers, two figures appeared in the room. Both were facing Alexander, with their backs turned at Michelle.
They knew how possessive Alexander could be when he took interest in something, so they didn’t dare look at Michelle when she was in such a state.
"Yes, My Lord?"
Alexander dismissively waved his hand. "Get Mavreth here!" he ordered.
With that, Unlucien and Noctis disappeared from the room.
Once again, Michelle was alone in the room with Alexander. But her full focus was on watching in the mirror how the wound on her chest closed at speed visible to the naked eyes.
"You won’t pay any attention to me?" Alexander stepped between Michelle and the mirror. "I know you are beautiful, but you can’t just keep staring at yourself! It has no benefits to you."
"I’ve already repaid what I owe you. Why should I pay you any attention?" Michelle stared at Alexander.
Alexander shrugged. "Maybe because I sent my subordinates to go get your master?"
Michelle narrowed her eyes. "I don’t think I owe you anything when you exploit your subordinates."
Alexander smiled at that. "I’m free to use them as I deem fit. They swore their loyalty to me. If they break the vow, their souls will get scattered."
"And? How does that mean you can give them pointless tasks?" Michelle walked back to her bed to sit down. She was going to wait for Mavreth to come. She had already looked enough at the net spreading over her. It didn’t look the least bit pleasant.
Quite the opposite. It looked extremely disturbing upon Michelle’s pale skin.
