Chapter 235: Chapter 234: Where Did You Go Wrong
Zhang Zhao found the number and dialed it, and a deep male voice quickly answered, "Hello."
Zhang Zhao took a deep breath and said slowly but firmly, "Dad, it’s me... I agree with your previous suggestion to study abroad, and let mom accompany me."
After hanging up, Zhang Zhao’s once straight back instantly bent, the room unlit, outside the window the sky had dimmed, perhaps due to the room being too dark, or maybe some other reason, Zhang Zhao felt his vision becoming increasingly blurry, the corner of his eye cool, with despair growing and winding from the depths of his heart, blocking his chest, like it was about to explode his heart.
He couldn’t help but raise his hand to cover his chest, feeling something cool slide across his face, itchy, he rubbed it, only to realize he was already crying.
Shi Yang slept particularly deeply this time, if not for waking up in the middle of the night needing to pee, he could have slept until late morning.
He truly drank too much, drunk beyond measure, so when he awakened, his head hurt like exploding, taking a good while to regain sense.
He squinted at Zhao Meimei nestled in his arms, glanced around, finally realizing why he felt not quite right upon waking.
He and Zhao Meimei were sleeping in the living room; where the coffee table originally sat was moved aside, and Zhao Meimei directly used the folding bed meant for resting on the balcony during summer, merging it with the sofa to make a double bed.
Zhao Meimei had an arm around his waist, her face buried in his chest, using his arm as a pillow, sleeping adorably flushed, Shi Yang turned his head, squeezed his pupils tight from the ceiling’s glaring light.
He squinted, adapting to the brightness after some time.
Shi Yang gently extracted Zhao Meimei from his embrace, and almost as soon as he moved, Zhao Meimei stirred, her eyelids trembled, briefly opened before closing again, overwhelmed by the light.
Zhao Meimei raised an arm to cover her face, her voice hoarse, calling out instinctively, "Brother."
Shi Yang swallowed, saliva passing through a parched throat felt like fire: "Mm."
Hearing the response, Zhao Meimei slowly relaxed, moving towards him, adeptly trying to climb onto him.
Seeing her dependent actions, Shi Yang’s heart melted, tenderly speaking, "You sleep a bit more; I need to use the bathroom."
After using the bathroom and freshening up, Shi Yang returned to the living room, bent down, picked Zhao Meimei up and took her back to the bedroom to settle her.
Shi Yang lay holding Zhao Meimei, all his complaints flushed away by her warm presence, he lowered his head, kissed Zhao Meimei, thinking he’s truly regressed, annoyed by a young boy.
In her sleep, Zhao Meimei squirmed in Shi Yang’s arms, unable to resist, he pinched her face, wishing he could deal with her outright, flipping her over, and thoroughly taking care of things so she wouldn’t foolishly attract confusing affections.
Staring at Zhao Meimei for a while, Shi Yang leaned in, noses touching, gruffly muttering to himself, "Only this once, let it be. If it happens again, then see how I handle you."
As if responding to him, Zhao Meimei mumbled "Brother" in her sleep, voice faint and soft, trapped by sealed lips.
Shi Yang sighed in the dark, tightening his arms around Zhao Meimei, letting her rest on his arm, the two of them nestled together and slowly fell asleep.
When Zhao Meimei woke, daylight had already brightened, with exams today, time felt more relaxed compared to a regular school morning.
Shi Yang was in the kitchen making breakfast; hearing movement, he called, "Hurry and wash up, I almost called you to wake up."
Zhao Meimei’s anxious heart settled when hearing Shi Yang’s words, she cheekily hugged him from the back, acting spoiled, "Brother, have you forgiven me?"
Shi Yang didn’t turn back, annoyed and shooing her away, "Can’t see I’m busy? Don’t get in the way here!"
In front of Shi Yang, Zhao Meimei never considered face a concern; she slid a hand inside Shi Yang’s clothes, pinching his waist haphazardly, "Brother, I’m sorry, I truly didn’t know Xu Xu liked me, I swear, I’ve never had divided intentions towards you."
Shi Yang smirked, "Really?"
Zhao Meimei hastily declared her resolve, "Absolutely, I only have eyes for you, I love only you, whoever else doesn’t matter, compared to you, they’re nothing. Brother, forgive me, I’m wrong."
Amusement flashed in Shi Yang’s eyes as he asked, "Where exactly did you go wrong?"
Zhao Meimei lifted Shi Yang’s clothes, pressed her face against his back, rubbed it, "Anything that made you unhappy is my fault, everything’s my fault, it’s my mistake, my shortcomings, Brother, don’t hold it against me."
Shi Yang tossed the spatula, halted Zhao Meimei’s wandering hands, turned, facing her, "Is everything you said true?"
Zhao Meimei nodded earnestly, "As real as can be."
Shi Yang couldn’t hold back, smiling, "I bet you won’t dare it; if you truly dared like someone else behind my back, did something that wronged me, I’d directly end you!"
Zhao Meimei cooperatively lifted her neck, "Dying under your trousers would be worth it even as a ghost."
Shi Yang chuckled, delighted by Zhao Meimei’s shameless words, he hugged her tight, kissed her hard on the mouth, "Alright, go wash up quickly, or you’ll be late, you have exams today!"
Zhao Meimei agreed but stayed still, looking as if hesitating to speak.
Seeing her like this, Shi Yang knew her thoughts, amused, "What I said yesterday was just angry words, you’ve been friends with Xu Xu for so many years, I wouldn’t truly stop you from seeing him."
Moved beyond words, Zhao Meimei hugged Shi Yang’s neck, lifted onto her toes, kissed his lips, "Brother, you can’t imagine how much I love you; I’m really taken by you."
Shi Yang laughed, held Zhao Meimei’s head, pressed against her lips, heavily kissed, slid his tongue into her mouth, possessively sweeping through her oral cavity, teasing Zhao Meimei’s tongue skillfully, transparent *** slid down her lips.
Finally, Shi Yang reminded, "You can hang out with Xu Xu, but keep boundaries. You don’t like him, so don’t give him false hope; that would only hurt more, okay?"
Zhao Meimei obediently nodded.
Shi Yang finally felt satisfied.
