Chapter 170: Chapter 169: Devoted to You Alone for a Lifetime
Zhao Meimei, panting heavily, asked, "Bro, did you pick up the cake?"
Shi Yang started the car while gesturing for her to look at the back seat.
Zhao Meimei leaned forward to take a glance. Only then did she relax and cheerfully boast, "Bro, the cake I ordered is guaranteed to be something you’ll love."
Shi Yang gave a mischievous smile, "Do you know what I like to eat?"
Zhao Meimei puffed out her small chest, "Of course I do!"
Shi Yang turned off the interior lights, and the car instantly went dark. He beckoned Zhao Meimei with a curled finger, "Since you know what I like, why don’t you hurry up and serve it?"
Zhao Meimei blinked twice and then realized, chuckling foolishly twice. She leaned over and wrapped her arms around Shi Yang’s neck, giving him a smooch on the mouth.
Shi Yang smacked his lips, teasingly, "Hmm, it does smell nice, but you’re being too perfunctory. I can’t even taste anything!"
Zhao Meimei quickly leaned over again to kiss him, then reached into her backpack for the gift she had been hiding, proudly presenting it to Shi Yang, "Bro, happy birthday. This is my gift to you."
Shi Yang, looking at the elegantly packaged little box, laughed, "Oh wow, you even tied a bow?"
Zhao Meimei turned the car lights on, "Hurry up and open it!"
Shi Yang smirked, "What is it?"
He shook the box, but it was silent inside.
Carefully, he untied the bow and slowly unwrapped the packaging, revealing a small velvet box.
Shi Yang was stunned for two seconds upon seeing the plush jewelry box, then realized it.
He paused because upon seeing the box, he subconsciously felt an inexplicable thrill. Such a box must contain jewelry. If it were a watch, the box would have a brand logo outside, and it would be larger and heavier than this.
When Shi Yang opened the lid, the rings inside glistened under the car lights, the delicate fragments of diamonds on the simple circular bands, one large and one small. They were clearly couple rings.
Shi Yang shifted his gaze from the rings to Zhao Meimei’s face. Their eyes met, and he felt amused with an uncontainable joyful smile in his eyes, "Why would you give me rings?"
Zhao Meimei glanced sideways, showcasing a proud expression, "I have to mark you so others know you’re taken. I won’t rest easy unless they stop secretly pondering, so I’m marking you!"
Zhao Meimei’s expression was like a child who accomplished something big, looking smugly proud and especially cheerful.
Shi Yang looked at Zhao Meimei, their gaze overlapping with complex emotions.
Zhao Meimei took the jewelry box and fetched the men’s ring from it, giggling as she pulled Shi Yang’s left hand and slid it onto his middle finger, saying, "Bro, I don’t have money now, so I’ve bought you a silver one for now. You’ll have to make do with it. When I earn enough money in the future, I’ll buy you a platinum one with real diamonds on it. It’ll definitely look better than this."
Shi Yang felt warm inside from Zhao Meimei’s words, even his eyes felt a bit hot. He took a deep breath and smiled, "You silly, rings are supposed to be given from the man to the woman, not the other way around."
Zhao Meimei looked at the ring on Shi Yang’s hand and held it up to her eyes for a closer look, satisfied and smiled, "It doesn’t matter. I’m giving you the same. As long as you’re happy, whatever I have, I’m willing to give to you."
Zhao Meimei’s expression was extremely pure and sincere, full of genuine affection.
Shi Yang: "....."
Shi Yang deeply gazed at Zhao Meimei, his heart felt engulfed in a jar of honey, unbelievably sweet. He mumbled, "Do you really like me that much?"
Zhao Meimei replied without a second thought, "I do, I like you the most."
Shi Yang’s eyes warmed. He casually turned off the car’s interior lights again, cradled Zhao Meimei’s face, his cheeks flushed red with excitement. He approached Zhao Meimei, gently pressing his lips onto hers, only giving a brief kiss, unable to control the surging emotions within him any longer. He kissed her deeply, passionately, causing their heartbeats to race, blood to boil. Their joined lips even trembled.
Zhao Meimei was inexperienced, beautiful, making him yearn and deeply captivated.
The kind of tingling sensation that arose from deep within his heart, he had only ever felt from Zhao Meimei, ever since he wished for Zhao Meimei for a long time. It was only this girl he practically grew up nurturing who made him willing to give, to desire.
After the kiss, their noses bumped together as they gasped for air, breathing heavily.
When Shi Yang realized he was too overwhelmed and lost, forgetting to breathe as if he were an inexperienced and foolish kid, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
Zhao Meimei’s long eyes seemed misty, not yet recovered from the stormy sensations. She looked bewilderedly at Shi Yang’s beautifully curved eyes and asked, "Bro, why are you laughing?"
Shi Yang gently shook his head, raised his arm, his left hand with the ring around the middle finger, his heart utterly softened. The last remaining hesitations and uncertainties within him were beginning to melt away. His deep infatuation with the person in front of him made him selfishly determined never to let go from now on.
Shi Yang asked coaxingly, "Meimei, when you’re old enough, should we get married? Then we can always be together. I will always be by your side, treating you well, only you, always yours, is that okay?"
Zhao Meimei instantly felt elated and delighted, grinning wide, showing her teeth, and eagerly agreed, "Okay, okay. When I become an adult, we’ll get married. Bro, you’ll have to wait two more years!"
Shi Yang laughed, "Two years won’t do. You have to wait until the legal marriage age to get the certificate."
Zhao Meimei paused, "Such a long time? Why don’t you marry me first, and when I reach the age, we’ll get the certificate!"
Afraid the duck about to be cooked might fly away, Zhao Meimei’s anxious expression made Shi Yang feel deeply fond of her from the bottom of his heart.
Shi Yang tightly hugged her, pressing Zhao Meimei’s face to his chest, and patted her hair, leaving a solemn kiss on Zhao Meimei’s brow. It seemed to express the affection in his heart and also as a promise to Zhao Meimei. He softly said, "Alright, I promise you, when you become an adult, I’ll marry you, and I’ll treat only you well forever."
