Chapter 220: Chapter 219 We Are Being Pure
Shi Yang received a call from Zhao Meimei on the train. Hearing that he was already on the train, Zhao Meimei breathed a sigh of relief over the phone, "You scared me! I was worried the heavy snow would close the highway and you wouldn’t be able to make it back."
Shi Yang laughed, "I promised to spend Christmas with you. When have I ever let you down?"
Zhao Meimei finally felt relieved and started to be affectionate, "Bro, what time will you get home? Why don’t you come to school at noon and find me? I’ll take you to eat Sichuan boiled fish, how about that?"
Shi Yang said, "I’ll probably arrive around eleven-thirty, and I have to go to your Brother Chao’s place first to help pick up some goods from logistics. How about I pick you up at the tutoring class tonight?"
Zhao Meimei reluctantly agreed, "Alright then, anyway, I want to sleep with you tonight. Have you informed my parents?"
Shi Yang grinned, revealing his white teeth, "So eager to sleep with me?"
Zhao Meimei was never shy around Shi Yang, "Ah, I’ve always wanted to. Don’t you?"
Shi Yang squinted, leaning back on the berth, his gaze falling on the snowy landscape outside the window, thinking to himself, I wish I could have you right now, so do I want to or not?
Shi Yang was away for over a week before coming back, and Qu Chaozong was directing his men to unload goods while chatting with Shi Yang.
Recently, Shi Yang had been smoking more because business in the provincial city was tough and he had too many worries. When feeling annoyed, he liked to light a cigarette to calm himself.
He lit a cigarette and took a puff before saying, "Today’s Christmas, how are you planning to spend the evening?"
Qu Chaozong shielded the wind with one hand and lit his cigarette, "I’m single, what’s Christmas to me!"
Qu Chaozong juggled the cigarette between his lips, finally catching on, and glanced at Shi Yang, "Damn! Showing off like you have someone to spend Christmas with? Look at you, all smug!"
Shi Yang smiled calmly, but his eyes couldn’t hide his satisfaction.
Qu Chaozong spat fiercely, "Don’t you know showing off love hastens its end?"
Shi Yang fluttered his eyelashes at Qu Chaozong, giving him a look: Show off if you’ve got someone!
Shi Yang’s teasing expression was infuriating, making Qu Chaozong’s face flush with anger as he kicked at Shi Yang, "Get lost! Someday when I find a pretty wife, you’ll be so jealous!"
Shi Yang cheerfully handed the special products he brought from the provincial city to Qu Chaozong, "Today the kindergarten has only a half-day class. In the afternoon, I have a Christmas party with the kids, probably done by two. Take this stuff home, so you don’t have to cook tonight. You’ve been worn out these days, go home early and take a good rest."
Qu Chaozong accepted the items, glaring at Shi Yang, "Stop being so cheeky; it’s more effective than anything else!"
Shi Yang left smiling, with such a triumphant air that Qu Chaozong shot him a couple of angry looks through the car window.
In the afternoon, with the kindergarten closed, Qu Chaozong and a few of his workers also took the opportunity to rest.
The food Shi Yang had brought was warmed up in the microwave, ready to eat directly. Mrs. Qu didn’t cook that night and pulled Qu Chaozong aside to discuss matchmaking.
Mrs. Qu said, "I’ve arranged with your Aunt Wang that her niece will be on vacation for New Year’s, and we’ll arrange for you to meet. Oh, you haven’t seen the photo of the girl yet, she’s fair-skinned and chubby, she seems to have a good personality."
Qu Chaozong said, "Oh, Mom, please don’t match me randomly. Fair-skinned sounds normal, but chubby? Is Aunt Wang’s niece a big girl?"
Mrs. Qu glared at him, "She’s not that fat, just sturdy-looking, and looks healthy for having children."
Qu Chaozong retorted, "Pigs are good at breeding too, and they’re white and fat. If you really like them, I’ll buy a pet pig for you."
Mrs. Qu was enraged, slapping Qu Chaozong’s back hard, "What nonsense are you speaking! You’re almost thirty, making money all day long, what’s the point if you don’t marry?"
Qu Chaozong hurried to appease her, "I’m making money for you to enjoy life!"
Mrs. Qu complained, "Get me a daughter-in-law and give me a grandson to hold, then I’ll enjoy life. Otherwise, you’re being unfilial!"
Qu Chaozong quickly begged for mercy, "Oh, Mom, I can’t handle such accusations. I’ll do the dishes and clean the kitchen tonight, okay? Please have mercy on me!
Qu Chaozong stood up from the chair, picking up the empty bowls and quickly darted into the kitchen.
While washing dishes, his phone rang, and his mother passed it to him, "Chaozi, phone!"
Qu Chaozong hurriedly rinsed his hands, wiped them quickly on a dishcloth, and took the phone, "Hello?"
Zhang Xin’s voice came from the phone, "Chaozi, it’s me."
At the kindergarten where Qu Chaozong worked, the environment was noisy, and the phone’s speaker was always set to max volume. Now, in the quiet of the kitchen, the voice was very clear.
Qu Chaozong instinctively looked at his mother, frowning, "Mom, let me take the call alone, please go out."
The old lady suspiciously looked at Qu Chaozong, her eyes gleaming. She heard clearly; the caller was a girl with a nice voice.
Qu Chaozong was immediately embarrassed and was about to step aside to take the call when a sentence came from the phone, "Chaozi, I miss you and want to see you, can you come out?"
Mrs. Qu’s eyes shone, threatening him: Rascal! Who is this girl? No wonder you refused matchmaking, you’ve been secretly dating outside!
Qu Chaozong rolled his eyes at the ceiling; what a mess. He didn’t hide anymore and said directly, "I can’t go out, nor do I want to see you. Why are you wandering instead of heading home at night?"
Under his mother’s laser-like gaze, Qu Chaozong hurriedly hung up the phone and quickly explained, "Mom, don’t misunderstand, there’s nothing between us, we’re innocent! This girl definitely isn’t your future daughter-in-law, trust me!"
At the roadside by the entrance to the residential complex, a black Benz was parked, with a thin layer of snow on the roof.
Zhang Xin reclined in the car seat, her high-heeled boots-clad legs crossed over the steering wheel, left hand behind her head, right hand holding a cigarette. After taking a puff, she put it down and turned to look at a row of lit small restaurants on the roadside.
Staring for a while, she casually extinguished the cigarette, retracted her legs, sat up straight, hesitated, then got out of the car.
Zhang Xin headed straight for the noodle shop opposite her, and as soon as she entered, she smelled the familiar fragrance of rich meat broth.
The proprietress welcomed her warmly, "What would you like?"
Zhang Xin glanced at her, "Beef noodles, uh, in a small bowl, hold the scallions."
