Chapter 218: Chapter 117: Just Marry Into Our Family

Mu Guangping’s actions were nothing short of giving coal during a snowstorm.

In gratitude, Shi Yang privately expressed to Qu Chaozong, "Mu Guangping is quite a remarkable person; he’ll accomplish great things in the future. We’re lucky to have boarded the right ship."

But barely half a month after Shi Yang praised him, things went wrong.

Mu Guangping’s own brand project was a type of entrepreneurship. He used to work in men’s fashion, and when it came to men’s clothing coordination and sales techniques, he could talk endlessly, analyzing everything in detail with one, two, three, or four examples. However, regarding mother and baby products, he was a novice, spending most of his time running business operations and recruiting franchisees. His skills in product selection and clothing sales techniques were evidently lacking.

Shi Yang’s store in the provincial capital was basically renovated, and the rest was about handling details carefully.

Mu Guangping called from headquarters, informing him of the order meeting scheduled from the end of July to early August, lasting a week. Agents from all over the country needed to go to headquarters to select their own goods. For this order meeting, Mu Guangping had specifically spent a lot on renting a large catwalk stage, and headquarters had cleared a side building for exclusive product selection.

When going to place orders, Shi Yang took Qu Chaozong along; it was their first time participating and they were inexperienced. Despite that, they could see that Mu Guangping’s arrangement for the order meeting was extremely unreasonable. Though the ordering projects could be completed in about three to four days, because headquarters hadn’t sorted goods according to the local seasonal climate, all agents had to review everything from start to finish, taking half a month to finish ordering autumn goods.

Once the goods were in hand, Shi Yang, as an outsider, had no idea about the difference between ordering basic sizes and larger sizes. When sales began, simply exchanging goods with headquarters kept him busy for more than a month. Many living goods that looked beautiful and novel were stuck in inventory due to low practicality.

During that time, Shi Yang was practically worrying himself to death. He didn’t leave the provincial capital for the entire month of October, selling items with shop assistants daily, learning through trial and error. In the end, he calculated his earnings, and not only did he not make a penny, after deducting rent and purchasing costs, he ended up losing quite a bit.

Shi Yang was busy and overwhelmed, and Zhao Meimei was facing her own problems. Right after her end-of-term exams, she was summoned home by her parents before she could enjoy a sweet world with Shi Yang. During the summer vacation, remedial class hours were from nine in the morning to four thirty in the afternoon, leaving plenty of time and making bus commuting convenient.

Having been away from home for a semester, Zhao Meimei was extra happy to return, but after a long time, she couldn’t take it anymore. She missed Shi Yang and wanted to see him, but Shi Yang was away at the southern headquarters attending the order meeting. Due to poor reception in the order meeting building, he rarely could answer calls, and sweet words shouted at a higher volume would lose their taste.

Unhappy, Zhao Meimei decided not to call Shi Yang, nor send texts.

Shi Yang was always busy and didn’t notice, and by the time he realized it, a week had passed.

Shi Yang was lying on the hotel bed at night and called Zhao Meimei while Qu Chaozong was taking a bath.

Zhao Meimei was brushing her teeth in the bathroom, and her mom answered the call for her.

Liu Xiue picked up Shi Yang’s call and they chatted warmly.

Liu Xiue briefly reported recent membership card sales and a few minor issues, ending with a suggestion: "It’s summer now, and when many kids play in the Naughty Castle, their parents follow them in. Many adults go bare-footed, which isn’t very hygienic and easily dirties the floor mat, making cleaning tough. I want to ask you, should we wholesale some disposable socks? That would be hygienic and convenient."

Shi Yang agreed readily, "Sure, take care of it as you see fit."

Liu Xiue was pleased and was about to say more when Zhao Meimei rushed from the bathroom to grab the phone urgently, "My brother called for me, Mom, give me the phone!"

"Hey!" Liu Xiue said with mixed emotions, "Who would fight you for a call from your brother? Zhao Dazhuang, come and see your daughter!"

Zhao Meimei grabbed the phone and dashed back to her room, not caring what her mom said, shutting the door behind her.

Zhao Meimei sat down on a chair, "Hello, Brother."

"Mm, finished brushing your teeth?"

"Finished ages ago. Brother, when are you coming back?" Zhao Meimei rocked back and forth on two legs of the chair, balancing herself.

"Probably not for another week; I haven’t finished ordering the goods yet. Why? Miss me?" Shi Yang’s voice was lazy and sounded subdued.

"Of course I miss you. Unlike you, you must have forgotten about me, huh?" Zhao Meimei complained, her resentment pouring out, "How long has it been since you contacted me?"

"That was my fault; I’ve been so busy lately. When I return, I’ll definitely make it up to you." Shi Yang quickly apologized.

Zhao Meimei replied unsatisfied, "I’m busy too, but no matter how exhausting studying is, I still think about you, unlike you, who seems to forget me once you work."

Shi Yang swiftly responded, skillfully soothing her, "How could I forget you? I was thinking about you half the night last night. Didn’t you sneeze?"

Zhao Meimei’s voice softened noticeably, "What were you thinking about me?"

Shi Yang glanced at the gushing-water bathroom and lowered his voice, "...I miss you."

Zhao Meimei cooed, "If you miss me, why don’t you come back?"

Shi Yang’s voice was tender like water, "I should be back next Friday."

Shi Yang said, "Darling, wait for me."

Shi Yang finally returned home at the beginning of November, ending a four-month absence.

On the day Shi Yang returned, Zhao Dazhuang invited Shi Yang’s family for dinner, knowing he’d just finished in the provincial capital, gathering the families to celebrate and welcome him home.

In Jufeng Garden Hotel’s private room, Zhao Meimei sat at the table, anxiously waiting, even her parents noticed it.

Zhao Dazhuang reached out to rub her head, "Hasn’t it been over four months since you last saw your Brother Yangyang? Still worried now?"

Zhao Meimei’s eyes almost pierced through to the hotel’s entrance, and she didn’t argue with her dad but honestly stated, "I do really miss him."

"Your Brother Yangyang misses you too. Someone brought your uncle two boxes of cookies from Shanghai yesterday, and when your brother heard, he urged me to deliver them to you. They are in Uncle’s car; remember to take them when you leave," Shi Yang’s mom said with a smile, "My Yangyang only has Meimei in his heart. I say, Meimei, you should just marry into our family in the future."

Shi Yang’s mom was joking; little did she know her foresight was spot on.
