Chapter 1957: Chapter 1957: Sinister Plot
“The scent of firewood!”
“Indeed, although we hate to admit it, from the moment we’re born into this world, we’re imbued with this scent. In this pitiful world, even though she provides for us, that doesn’t mean she has the right to take everything away—doesn’t mean we must burn ourselves to fulfill her desires.”
In the voice of this enchanting King, there was nothing but resentment and unwillingness.
“Are you talking about Amon?” the enchantress asked.
“Who else but her? We so-called Kings seem revered, but in reality, we merely possess a unique constitution that carries the initial furnace. We are nothing but the thickest firewood, merely the wick illuminating her soul. Every generation of Kings strives hard, but in the face of the endless Amon, all our efforts can only delay certain events. Yet now, perhaps even that can’t hold on.” Dance King sighed.
“You’ve confused me. Aren’t you Kings supposed to be Amon’s most trusted? And Amon, the Creator—we’ve seen the sacred images in the chapel. Why does your tone suggest otherwise, like an enemy?” the enchantress grew even more puzzled.
Dance King’s face grew calm: “Outsiders, understand if you do, and if you don’t, consider my words mere nonsense. Anyway, this world is on the verge of destruction, rendering everything insignificant.”
Li Yao shook his head: “Amon might not be as simple as you think. As your world’s Creator God, she undoubtedly has many means. If my guess is correct, there should be something related to Amon being suppressed below, aiming to prevent Amon from gathering all Flame of Life to resurrect against destiny.”
Dance King was taken aback: “It seems you know a lot.”
“I am merely speculating. Though my strength is average, I’m quite fond of studying ancient matters. Based on my conjecture, Amon was actually the world’s first life form, embodying all the essence of life in this world.”
“Then what about the creation at that time?” the enchantress asked.
“I can’t be sure, just a guess. I speculate that Amon had become aware of the primary plane back then. She probably could be considered a deity, yearning to integrate into the primary plane, only to find herself constrained by it. Therefore, she wished to purify this dimension, absorbing its chaos.”
“But when she absorbed almost enough, she discovered that the moment of creation was also the moment of her demise. However, she couldn’t stop anymore. As this world formed, Amon perished, but as a life generated by this world’s will, she wouldn’t truly die, her will remaining.”
“Then she found her death scattered all life energy, creating many lives. The burning of these life’s flesh and soul could restore her strength anew. Thus, she began by seeking devotion from the two mightiest races. Unfortunately, neither Giants nor the primal Dragons were too strong, and she was too weak at the time. Thus, she induced the two races to war.”
“She discovered three races in the underground world, using the initial fire to guide the Kings of the three races, granting them power. After years of plotting, they succeeded in dominating the world. The appearance was the victory of the three races. In reality, what Amon required was for believers to burn, the first generation of Kings probably realized the truth upon their death, yet it was too late. The Sacred Teaching had become irreversible.”
Dance King sighed: “You’ve inferred so much from mere murals, though many things are off, yet you’re close. The first generation of Kings, the Divine King, before his death, awakened, revealing his speculations to the Grand Witch and the great craftsman at the time. Thus, when the great craftsman became Salary King, this place was built. The purpose wasn’t to destroy Amon; as you said, she’s the world’s will. Unless this world ceases to exist, she will forever be undying.”
“Then what’s being suppressed below?” the enchantress asked curiously.
“It’s Amon’s new body. When the first generation Divine King died, the second generation Salary King, who was the first Grand Witch, inherited the position. Amon didn’t know the Divine King had disclosed the truth to the Witch and craftsman, tricking the Grand Witch to prepare for her resurrection. The Grand Witch learned that Amon communicated with some formidable life in an unknown realm. The Witch later knew she had connected with the Void, aiming to create what’s called the Ancient God’s body, presenting Amon’s will through it.”
“Knowing there’s no way to stop Amon, the Grand Witch played along, sought rare and difficult-to-replicate materials to aid her research, essentially buying time and devising plans. Eventually, the Grand Witch’s life burned to ashes, and the craftsman became the third generation Salary King. He also acted submissively, claiming to build a powerful underground palace to protect Amon’s new body.”
“Because the Undying emerged then, the world began to stir. The ancient primal Dragons and Stone Giants awakened, launching a counterattack. Amon had no idea this scenario was secretly funded by the three generations of Divine King, agreeing when the body was complete. Upon Amon’s attachment, she found this place was merely a cage—constructed from the third-generation Salary King’s tomb, the wills of countless Sacred Teaching’s mighty individuals, and the endless devout followers’ remains, converting into an unshakable prison.”
“Amon attempted to destroy the Salary King, preventing its reappearance. But things were beyond his control. Even Amon couldn’t erase the Salary King’s brilliance. A new Salary King can empower Amon, but also becomes the next sturdy shackle. And I, a direct descendant of the Sun God King, the fifth generation of Salary King. Yet it’s all past now; we are merely burnt-out ashes.”
Dance King sighed: “You better leave. There’s no treasure here as you seek. But this lady, her path aligns closely with mine, I can offer her a small gift.”
As Dance King spoke, a flame merged into the enchantress’s forehead: “See what destiny yields for you.”
“Thank you,” the enchantress bowed, the flame directly restoring her essence to race level; with an opportunity, she could become a legitimate race-level leader.
Li Yao then said, “I’m afraid things won’t go as you wish. Do you realize a grand ritual is ongoing in the Holy city? From what I’ve seen, the offerings are fearfully no less than ten thousand, possibly more. On the upper levels, we witnessed a massive hand struggling, being suppressed.”
Dance King’s expression changed: “Impossible, how could anyone survive above when the Sacred Teaching was obliterated during the eighth-generation Salary King’s fall, and the city turned into ruins.”
“We managed to enter, indicating the seal is ineffective. And though the city is filled with coffins, many people seem revived by an unknown force.” Li Yao explained.
“Ashes from the eighth generation of Salary King remarked; upon his rise to Salary King, Amon had completely dominated the Sacred Teaching, twisting the Salary King into a traitor. He, along with the Undying, primal Dragons, and Giants, obliterated the Sacred Teaching, burying the city, then burned himself to strengthen the seal. Those people are Amon’s most loyal believers.”
