Chapter 275: Look what you made me do!
"Man. That was getting pretty interesting." Kai and the others had stopped thinking of horrible ways to die when they noticed Barry was talking to the demon lord. All of them were so invested in the lore that they leaned forward in their imaginary seats.
"I know, right! Fucking bastard saying all of that cool stuff only for it to be fake!" Amaya tossed over her imaginary table.
Kyana looked at Kai, then at the building where the demon lord was. "So are we not going to talk about Barry, Iris, and Patty falling in that hole?"
Sasha shrugged. "Meh, who cares. If they can’t get out of that situation, then that’s on them."
"Maybe helping them wouldn’t be that big of a deal." Nadya felt a bit bad and wanted to at least get them out of the hole.
"They could be dead, you know." Cornelia felt bad
"That would make things a lot easier for us. We could kill the demon king and move on to the next continent." Kyana was so ready to leave this watery place.
Just as they were contemplating their next move, Barry broke through the floor with Iris and Patty at his side. He blasted the demon out of the room and told Iris and Patty to round up anyone they missed.
"Got it!"
"Kick his ass!"
"Filthy human!" The demon flipped onto his feet and slammed his fist into the air, cracking space. The world around Barry suddenly shifted, and he crashed into the ground.
"What the heck just happened?!" Barry stood up, but instead, he pushed himself more onto the ground. "H-Huh?! W-What’s going on?"
"I reversed eveything. You probably don’t even understand what I’m saying since I’m speaking reversed and upside down in your head." The demon smiled, stepping on Barry’s head.
"Get off me!" Barry tried to push the demon off, but each time he did, he would just be forcing himself onto the ground even harder.
"Try all you want, you’ll never be able to-"
"Uhh, excuse me?" Kai had tapped the demon on the shoulder to get his attention.
"Who dares to tap me on the shoulder?!" The demon swung his arm around to punch whoever tapped his shoulder, only for it to be caught by Kai’s hand.
"Hey, listen to me, I’m not here to fight you, I just have to ask you a question."
"Heh! Do you take me as a fool, human? I knew you were watching from above, and now you’re here to help your friend." Jumping backward, the demon prepared for another attack, and his foot accidentally landed on Barry’s back.
"Arghh!"
"Do you know what they call me?"
Kai sighed. "No. And I don’t care."
"They call me-"
"I just said that I don’t care! Are you fucking listening?"
Growling, the demon released an energy from his hands, which started to make the land tremble. "You will listen to me when I’m speaking! You are nothing but a simple-minded lesser creature!"
"Dude. Just wait for a second, okay? I just want to make a deal with you. You can beat up Barry all you want after that."
Even though Kai wasn’t attacking and had his hands up, the demon was angry and wanted him dead. So, he stopped listening to Kai and just attacked him.
"Get a taste of this, you human!" A dark swirling energy that formed the head of a monster was released from the demon’s hands, crashing into Kai and destroying the land around him.
The blast was huge and leveled the area they were in. However, after the smoke had settled, Kai was standing perfectly fine.
"W-What the hell?"
"All I wanted was to talk, and did you allow me to? No! Now I’m fucking pissed!" Kai started walking forward, but to the demon, it was as if death was inching closer to him.
"S-Stay back!"
"Oh! Look at this! You’re trying to run away. Fuck that! Come here, you little shit!"
"N-No! NOOOOO!" The demon tried to run away, but with each step he took, he didn’t move forward at all. In fact, he moved backward as Kai was dragging him back with his telekinesis. His feet dragged against the dirt, and he dropped to his hands and knees, clawing at the ground to move even an inch forward.
"P-Pleaseeeee!"
"Shut up!" Kai gripped the demon by the neck and lifted him up. "I just wanted to talk to you, but you kept on being stupid and annoying!"
"S-Sorry! I’m sorry!"
"Oh, you’re sorry now? Would you still be sorry if I were dead?"
The demon gulped, not answering the question.
"Yeah, that’s right, you fucking asshole!" Without thinking any further, Kai blew up the demon’s body.
"And there goes Barry’s challenge." Gwen flew to the ground to check up on him. He was still kind of disoriented, but he was slowly coming back to his senses.
"Really, Kai? Why did you butt in?"
"Look, I had no intent to fight him. I was just going to ask if he could fight Barry fairly, that’s all. But no, he had to be a dick about it. It’s not my fault he was a dumbass." Kai kicked a tree branch as he walked away.
"Barry, we’re done over... there. What happened here?" Iris and Patty saw that the area they were in was completely leveled, and Barry was trying to walk on his head for some reason.
"The demon reversed Barry’s senses," Sasha explained.
"I see."
Around ten minutes later, Barry finally came back to his senses and was back to normal.
"Okay, that felt very horrible. You all were talking gibberish and walking in the air. It was so weird."
"What are we going to do with all of them?" Patty had trapped all of the humans, elves, beastkin, and dwarves who sided with the demons in a confined space.
Barry looked at all of them with pity and disappointment. "We’ll take them to the authorities, where they will be tried and judged. What do you say, Kai?"
Kai looked at Barry, then at the prisoners, and frowned. "We don’t have time for this." A huge gust of wind severed all of their heads, not leaving even one of them alive.
"Come on, we’re going to the fucking storm that’s messing with the environment."
Barry clenched his fists but didn’t say anything. He looked down at the corpses, sighed, then followed Kai.
