Chapter 265: Training the hero, kind of. More like arguing with him.

"Ahhhhh!!!!"

"Nope, that’s not how you do it. Face the beast, don’t run away!" Kai shouted at Barry as he ran for his life while being chased by a massive demonic dragon.

"Don’t you think this is a little too much?" Kyana asked, sitting on the carriage roof, watching Kai try to train Barry.

Everyone else, besides Amaya, was inside the carriage and was relaxing until they needed to leave. Amaya was somewhere killing monsters.

"Nah, he’ll be fine."

The dragon ate Barry.

Kyana nearly fell off the carriage and had to look at the dragon again to see if she had seen what had happened correctly. When she saw the dragon gulp, she glared at Kai.

"Well, that was not what I expected. But I’m sure he’ll find out that the inside of a creature is a lot softer than the outside."

And just as Kai said, Barry tore his way out of the dragon’s stomach, killing the beast in the process, and collapsed onto the ground.

"Ughhh!"

"See, I told you the dragon was easy to kill." Kai used Clean to freshen up Barry since he smelled like shit.

Barry couldn’t tell if Kai was joking or not. "I was literally eaten!"

"Actually, you were swallowed. Being eaten involves chewing and digestion." Kai corrected him.

"I don’t care what it involves! I could have died!"

"Oh, just like yesterday before I arrived?"

Barry held his tongue.

"Yeah, that’s right, bitch. Now get up, we need to find another monster." Kai looked around until he could sense a powerful monster for Barry to face

"But we’ve been at this all morning! Shouldn’t we go around the neighboring villages, help them out if needed, pray, and continue with our mission?"

"First of all, you’re weak as hell, praying won’t do shit for you. Second, why the fuck would you go help villages that aren’t being affected by anything?"

"What do you mean?" He asked

"All of the neighboring villages aren’t being overrun by demons, they don’t have any water or food problems, none of them are sick, and again, why the fuck do you ned to pray?"

Barry was baffled. "I-If you don’t mind me asking, what did you do as the hero?"

Kai smiled. "I’m glad you asked, actually. You see, I did shit that actually mattered, like helping villages that NEEDED help. I cured sicknesses, cleaned contaminated water, stopped monsters from destroying towns, cities, and villages, and most importantly, I killed the fucking demon king! By myself, in fact. I didn’t waste my time traveling to every insignificant place that didn’t need me."

"You did travel a lot for adventuring, and that could be seen as insignificant." Kyana butted in.

Kai gave her a menacing glare, and she just shrugged.

"My point is, you go to the places that matter."

Bary was left even more confused than he already was. "But as the hero, shouldn’t we be helping everyone we can?"

"No. Why would we do that? We’re only one person. You know who should be helping everyone they can? Aquaphina! The bitch is literally sitting in a chair right now, probably drinking sparkling water and just watching everything play out down here like a movie."

"Hey!" Barry shouted, getting angry. "Don’t you dare talk about the goddess like that again! And how dare you use her name! She is doing more for us than anyone else in the whole continent!"

Kai busted out laughing. "Really? When entire villages get wiped out, where is she? Don’t they pray to her? What about when good people are killed? Where is her protection? How about sicknesses that plague entire cities? Where is her ’divine healing’? And what about the demon king? Why isn’t she fighting him? She sent you, a mortal who can’t even handle a fucking demonic dragon, to fight HER battle, and you nearly died. If you had died, and another hero wasn’t chosen in time, this entire continent would have been taken over by the demons, and everyone would have been killed."

"That’s not true!"

"Go on, explain to me how it isn’t." Kai let him take the stage.

"She’s doing all she can! Why else would the church be here fighting against the demons?!"

"Really? That’s your argument? Okay, fine, let’s say you’re right. What are you doing then? You need to get stronger to fight the demon king, right? Letting all these lesser things get in the way wont help you."

"It’s the right thing to do!" Barry argued.

"Right. Moral compass and shit." Kai rolled his eyes.

’Should I just hypnotize him and get this over with? Yeah, let’s do that. I’m not in the mood to...wait, hmmm. Oh yeah, I have an amazing idea! Hahaha! Fuck you, Barry! I’m gonna torment you so much that you’ll break!’

"Okay, fine. You said there was demon activity on a nearby island, right? Let’s go there and handle them."

"At least that’s something we can agree on." Barry nodded and turned to find Iris and Patty.

Kai wanted to blast a hole in the guy’s head, but he held himself back. He would gain nothing from killing him.

"Except satisfaction. I think that’s worth it."

"Kai."

"What?"

Kyana gave him a hug.

"Thanks. I needed that."

"What do you plan on doing to him?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

She shot him a ’really dude?’ look.

"Okay. We’re going to go to the place where demons, bandits, or pirates are, and I’ll force him to watch them kill people. Then I’ll test him to see if he will kill them. Well, the humans, not the demons. I know he would kill the demons."

"That’s pretty harsh. But I like that plan."

"Thanks, I came up with it." He kissed her.

"Yeah, babe, I know."

"Hehe. I wonder what it will take to have Barry kill a person. Aquaphina said he despises demons but would never kill anyone who isn’t a human. So, until he does, I’ll keep putting him in these situations. Little does he know that becoming mentally strong will make him even stronger than ever."

Kyana tapped Kai on the chest. "Just don’t break him."

"That’s up to him to decide."
