Chapter 254: Give it up for the Anglerfish
"You see, Dasani, I agree with you. I think this little system the gods and demon kings have going on is utter bullshit. It’s stupid. I just jeopardize the lives of everyone." Kai remembered his conversation with Gracia and how she couldn’t refute the facts he was spitting.
He was positive that the gods would find some way to claim that their system is good because it works, but if that was truly the case, one of the continents wouldn’t be overrun by demons, and Horith wouldn’t have died.
Those two examples alone trump any excuse they could give, in Kai’s opinion.
"Thank you for seeing things the way I do. I hated my mother’s rules; this is why I rule over my people. They can see me, talk to me, interact with me, and I’m here in person to help them with whatever they need."
Fiji smiled at her mother. "You said you don’t like talking about grandma like that. This is the most you’ve spoken about her in like, 300 years."
’Damn! They’ve been around for that long? They are demigods, but still. Wait a minute? If they’re demigods, why are they so weak? I understand that they wouldn’t be as strong as a demon king, but only 300K in mana? That seems very....low. Especially if Dasani’s pets have a mana stat of 600K minimum.’
"Well, my sweet daughter, I never expected our friend here to know of my mother and meet her personally. Everything just slipped out." She admitted.
"Hey, question?" Kai raised his hand. "If you’re demigods, why are you so...weak?" He knew that demon kings aren’t in their true form when they attack. They aren’t allowed to be in their true forms. The same applies to gods when they descend to the surface.
"Oh, we have our power sealed. Even if we’re only semi-divine beings, we’re still divine beings, and the world can’t handle a divine being being at their full strength."
’Fuckkkk! I nearly fucked up! They weren’t scared of me when I released my mana; they just panicked because they never expected me to be that strong! If it weren’t for me using my hypnosis on them at that moment, I would have been toast.’
"Oh, that’s awesome!" He smiled. It also further explained how Fiji was able to beat him in sex.
Dasani stood up, smiling at Kai. "Come, let’s go to the arena. The tournament should start soon."
"Kai! You’re sitting with me!" Fiji held him as she swam toward the arena.
"I’m okay with that."
---
The arena was one massive fighting stage located in the less-populated area of the city. Thousands of people were there, cheering for their champion to crush his opponent.
"Angler! Angler! Angler!" They all cried in unison, hyping up the man who stood in the arena, standing over his defeated opponent.
"For 50 years, I’ve been fighting in this tournament. And during those 50 years, no one has come close to dethroning me as the champion! You send these weak, unskilled pieces of trash into my arena, thinking they can dethrone me? Give me a real challenge!"
Angler kicked the man out of the arena and into the stands, where he destroyed a part of it. Instead of getting scared, the crowd cheered even louder, and Angler kept raising his hands in the air, telling them to chant his name louder.
"ANGLER!"
"ANGLER!"
"ANGLER!"
"Angler is a talented individual, so talented that I’m glad that someone like him lives in my city. However, while it might not seem this way, he’s too arrogant, self-centered, and cocky. His wife and daughter are both enablers as well, not correcting his actions. I want you to humble him." Dasani looked at Angler with an emotionless expression. It was obvious that she hated him.
"Wont be a problem. But it seems like there’s someone else stepping up to the challenge." Kai noticed another man, a merman, swimming up to the stage and slamming his trident into the ground.
"I am Blob! I challenge you, Angler!"
Angler smiled, his teeth sharp and his eyes glowing. "Blob, I’m impressed by your courage, and for that, you are already an honorable warrior. Come, show me your might, and let’s see if it’s enough to de-throne the king!"
Fiji frowned, her hold on Kai tightening. "I hate it when he calls himself that!"
"A king? Why?" He asked
"Because he’s not one. He’s simply the champion of the area. Nothing more, nothing less. If anyone will be king, it’s you, because I like you." She kissed his cheek with her large lips.
The whole arena saw this and was very shocked. They knew the princess had a fiancé, and Kai did not look like him one bit. However, since they were royalty, the common people did not say anything. It was normal to have second wives or lovers among nobility and royalty anyway.
"May the fight between Angler and Blob be great entertainment for the Goddess of the seas! Begin!" Dasani announced.
Blob wasted no time and sent out a wave that made the water slam into Angler.
"An impressive attack!" Angler slammed his foot on the ground, creating a wave of his own that canceled out Blob’s attack. "But that’s child’s play!"
He swam so fast it looked like he was flying and cracked Blob in the back with his fist. Extending his hand out, the water around Blob bubbled, then exploded in his face.
"Arghhhh!!"
"Hahaha! Get up, Blob! Show me your strength!"
Blob rose up, his face bleeding, but his pride still intact. He clashed his hands together, shaping his fingers into some sort of hand seal. The water erupted around his feet, and seven water sea serpents charged toward Angler.
"Take this, you bastard!"
Angler’s face lit up. "Yes! That’s more like it!" Mana around Angler pulsed as tattoos made of mana formed around his body. A bident made of water formed in his hands, and he spun it around, gathering tons of water.
The water-serpents were sucked into this vortex, standing no chance against Angler’s might, and became a part of his attack.
"He’s doing it!"
"That’s one of his most famous attacks!"
"Come on, everyone! Say it together!" The crowd shouted with excitement.
"Neptune’s divine strike!" Everyone shouted as Angler threw his spear into Blob’s body.
The water bombarded Blob, crushing him, then it erupted into a pillar of ice before exploding with raw mana. By the time the attack was over, Blob’s body was mangled and disfigured, and he was dead.
"Say my name!"
"Angler!"
