Chapter 239: You must be Picklenose

Chapter 239: You must be Picklenose

"W-Who are you people?! What are you doing here?!" The boss pointed his sword toward Kai while both his bodyguards and the other people in the room drew their weapons.

"I’m the guy who this thief stole from."

Carlor backed away. He didn’t understand how Kai knew he had been pickpocketed, nor how he managed to find him here. But seeing as his boss and the others weren’t backing down, he assumed Kai wasn’t that big of a threat.

"You mean that bag of rocks?" The boss asked

"Indeed. He stole my rocks! I want them back!" Kai demanded

"Take them. They’re just junk anyway." Carlor kicked the bag at Kai, then it floated in the air, landing in his palm.

"Ahh, yes. My bag of useless rocks. How I missed you. Did you have a good time?" Kai started speaking to the bag as if it were a pet, which confused everyone, even his girls.

"Why don’t you reveal your true self?" The rocks started shaking, then they exploded, revealing their true form, diamonds. Well, they actually weren’t diamonds; Kai just turned them into diamonds to make the thugs think they lost a fortune.

"B-Boss, did you see that?"

"The rocks turned into diamonds, right?"

"Yeah."

"Then I saw that." The boss cleared his throat. "Ahem. It seems like there has been a misunderstanding."

"Really? Well, it’s okay. I forgive you. I’ll be going now." Kai turned around, and two blades were pointing at him.

"You don’t seem to understand. Those diamonds belong to us now. Leave the bag, and the girls too."

Kai turned his head, a maniacal grin spreading across his face. "Really now?" The wind generated from Kai turning his body around knocked out the two men who had swords pointed at him.

He took one step, sitting on the Boss’s chair behind them. It took them a minute to figure out where Kai went, and once they did, they knew they stood no chance against him.

They were pretty smart for thieves, dropping their weapons and getting on their knees. They begged Kai to spare their lives or at least take Carlor’s life since he was the one who stole from Kai in the first place.

"You have a point. It was this Carlor guy who stole from me. Hmmm. Okay, to be honest, I was hoping a situation like this would happen, so it’s also my fault because I technically baited you, no, all pickpockets into this. Because of that, I’ll only take an arm."

Kyana swooped and sliced off Carlor’s dominant arm in one clean cut.

"Arghhhhh!"

"Oh, stop crying, it’s just an arm." Kyana kicked Carlor onto the ground.

"And for you," Kai pointed at the boss. "I would have let you go, but then you tried to stop me from leaving and wanted my girls. Tsk, tsk, tsk, I don’t play these games. What does the jury say?"

"Off with his head!"

"Cut it off!"

"Decapitate him!"

"Send him to the gallows!"

"Away with him!"

Kai stood up, happy that his team agreed with him. "It seems the people have spoken."

"No! No please! I beg of you! Spare me! I have a family!"

"I don’t give a fuck." Kai cleanly cut off his head with a single swipe of his hand.

"Noooo! Bossss!"

Kai cleaned up his hands and walked out of the place. "Alright, time to go. We have no more business in this place."

---

The wait for nighttime was awful. All of them were so used to having things to do, whether it be hunting monsters, attending school, or participating in rituals to honor a goddess, which was definitely not a sex party.

But today, the team did nothing except sit in a tavern and look bored out of their minds.

People came up to them for a multitude of reasons. Some were friendly, others were weird, and a few even wanted to pick fights. The latter did not end well for those sad bunches of idiots who thought that Kai would be an easy target since he was surrounded by women.

It got to a point where Kai willingly started speaking to Leo, but that bastard didn’t respond, and that pissed him off. He cursed out his father, and then his status window slapped him in the face.

But after the sun finally went down and the moon finally rose into the sky, they left the tavern for the rendezvous spot.

"Finally! Sitting there for hours was the worst thing in the world." Amaya cracked her back, feeling a knot in it from sitting down too long.

Gwen groaned, stretching her tired limbs. "Yeah, that sucked. I’d rather go syner-"

"Nooo!" Kyana cut her off. She didn’t want to hear that word ever again.

Nadya pointed at the alley. "We’re here."

Entering the alleyway, they all waited for their client to arrive, only for the space around them to warp and transport them into some random room.

Kai could feel the space around him shift long before the spell was activated, but since he didn’t sense anything wrong, he didn’t do anything.

"Welcome. Thank you for taking my request." A man wearing a top hat, monocle, and a cigar in his mouth greeted them. He had a big nose with bumps on it as if he were some sort of kid movie villain.

"You must be Sir Picklenose. It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is-"

"Kai LuForia, I know. I was at the banquet yesterday."

"Oh, that makes things easier. So, who are we spying on?"

"My wife."

Everyone looked at each other, then back at Picklenose. "Your wife? Why do you want us to spy on her? You think she’s cheating on you or something?"

"What?! No! My wife will never cheat on me!" He slammed his hands onto his table, raising his voice in anger.

Nadya glared at him. "Hey, lower your voice. We aren’t your servants who you can talk to like that."

"M-My apologies." Picklenose nearly forgot that he was talking to arguably the strongest people on the continent. One wrong move and he could be killed in an instant.

He gulped hard then stretched his back. "I think she’s involved with something nefarious."

"Like what?" Sasha asked

"Like creating drugs using demonic energy."
