Chapter 854: Chapter 855: Power Outage?

“Have my parents left? I should head back as well, so I don’t cause them to worry by returning late.”

Her voice was calm, as if nothing had happened just now.

Gu Qiangwei was stunned for a moment and glanced at Qin Sijue, still somewhat worried, “I’ll have him take you home.”

“No need, I drove here by myself—”

“Really? But I remember you came with your uncle and aunt,” Gu Qiangwei clearly recalled that she had indeed come with her parents and hadn’t driven herself.

Huo Yishan paused and suddenly had nothing to say.

Gu Qiangwei turned her head toward Qin Sijue, “You take Yishan back.”

Knowing she couldn’t decline any further, Huo Yishan simply kept quiet and obediently sat in the passenger seat of Qin Sijue’s car.

Looking out at the heavy rain through the car window, Huo Yishan felt very downcast and remained silent all the way to the Huo family home.

Seeing her daughter return, Shu Yulan was still worried, “Shanshan, where have you been? I tried calling you but no one answered—”

Before she had finished speaking, she caught sight of her daughter’s injured arm, “What happened to your arm? How did you get hurt?”

At the entrance, Qin Sijue didn’t leave until he had watched her enter the door, and only then did he drive back.

.

The heavy rainfall finally stopped, and the guests in the hotel had gradually left as well.

Seeing that the rain had ceased, Qin Guozhong and Zhuang Yanyan and others also prepared to depart.

“Weird, why hasn’t Weiwei come down yet?”

In an extended black Rolls-Royce, Zhuang Yanyan held Little Duke and kept looking toward the hotel’s main entrance as Gu Qiangwei had yet to come down.

She clearly saw her going downstairs.

“Let’s wait a little longer,” said Qin Guozhong, sitting beside her.

Anyway, today was a good day, and he was willing to wait however long it took.

After all, they had two little ones keeping them company, so even a few hours of waiting wouldn’t be boring.

Thus, the elders waited at the hotel entrance for about ten more minutes but still didn’t see Gu Qiangwei coming down.

In the hotel’s third-floor restroom, Gu Qiangwei breathed a sigh of relief. It was fortunate she had the foresight to bring a spare sanitary pad, or else it might have been impossible to go home.

Because she had felt that her period might come in the next couple of days, and sure enough, just as she was about to go downstairs, she felt a warm flow and, upon checking in the restroom, her aunt had indeed paid a visit.

After getting things sorted and making sure the outside of her dress was clean, she left the restroom.

However, just as she entered the hallway, the lights in the corridor suddenly went ‘click’ and blacked out, immediately plunging the whole corridor into darkness, barely lit by the faint light from outside and the emergency lamps—just enough to discern where the exit was.

What happened?

Gu Qiangwei stood still, trying to understand what had happened in an instant.

Was it a power outage? Or had the lights been turned off because everyone had left?

But this was a hotel, and it wasn’t even past nine in the evening; surely they wouldn’t close so early?

The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt, and she could only look down to try and turn on the flashlight function on her phone.

But just as she bent her head, through the dim light of the emergency lamps, she shockingly discovered there was someone standing behind her, his shadow elongated by the lighting!

“Who’s there!?” She spun around sharply, her flashlight not yet turned on, desperate to see who was behind her!

But just as she turned, before she could make out the person’s face, her mouth was suddenly covered by something soft and mushy!

“Mmm—” She was struck with sudden terror!
