Chapter 182 Ignore her, let her jump

When Fu Jingshu arrived at the company, Lin Minglan was making such a scene that a crowd had already gathered downstairs, all craning their necks to look up at the company building.

A number of employees had also congregated on the rooftop.

Lin Mo was earnestly trying to persuade her, "Miss Lin, you still have a great life ahead of you. Please don't do anything drastic!"

Lin Minglan stood on the edge of the rooftop, her expression resolute, as if prepared to die.

"You desperately wanted to get out of the police station before, and now that you're finally out, why not live your life properly?" Lin Mo couldn't understand. "Why are you causing all this trouble? Aren't you afraid of being sent back to the police station?"

Lin Minglan turned to look at him. "Are you threatening me?"

"That's not what I meant." Lin Mo didn't want to escalate an already serious situation, so he tried to use gentler words to coax her down. "We can discuss anything you need. If you have any needs, you can tell us. Master Fu grew up with you; he's your friend and will definitely help you."

His words seemed to soothe Lin Minglan's emotions and also quell the confusion of the onlookers. He had overheard them already discussing the relationship between Master Fu and this woman.

"Let her jump."

A cold voice emanated from behind him. The crowd instinctively parted, creating a path. Fu Jingshu, dressed in a custom-tailored suit, strode forward with unhurried steps, his long legs carrying him. His indifferent gaze swept over Lin Minglan.

Then, his eyes slowly scanned the surroundings. Everyone instinctively lowered their heads, avoiding his gaze.

Upon seeing Fu Jingshu, Lin Minglan's eyes lit up. "Jingshu, I didn't come here today to force anything from you. I just want to prove my innocence. I didn't do that thing; I was framed by someone else!"

Fu Jingshu let out a cold laugh. "Where's the evidence?"

Lin Minglan faltered. "I, I don't have any evidence. That's precisely why I can't defend myself. But, but I want to prove my innocence to you. We grew up together; even though we were apart for some time, you should know me!"

She gazed at Fu Jingshu with deep affection.

"Believe me, what happened at the banquet that day was a setup. Someone orchestrated everything. You must find her; this person is truly terrifying!"

She didn't name anyone, only saying that someone had framed her.

However, the only person she had a conflict with at the banquet that day was Shen Qingqing.

An airplane flew across the sky. Fu Jingshu instinctively looked up, noting the time…

She should have arrived by now.

"Jingshu, Jingshu!" Lin Minglan was displeased by his distracted demeanor, certain he was thinking about that woman again. "Are you even listening to me?"

Fu Jingshu's gaze slowly returned to her. The almost imperceptible longing in his eyes instantly turned to ice. "That day's incident has been thoroughly investigated, and the police have released their findings. If you are not satisfied with the results, take it up with the police. Don't cause trouble at my company."

His cold, heartless demeanor made Lin Minglan bite her lip, resentment surging within her. "You don't believe me, do you?"

Fu Jingshu remained silent, but his stern expression said it all.

"Fine. Since you don't believe me, I'll have to prove my innocence myself!" Lin Minglan stood there, showing no fear or hesitation, only a desperate courage. "If I jump from here today, will you finally believe me?"

Her slender figure and the strong wind on the rooftop made her hair and clothes flutter, giving the impression that she could fall at any moment.

The onlookers watched with bated breath.

Those below let out gasps of alarm.

Lin Mo quickly said, "Miss Lin, don't be impulsive. Don't do anything to hurt yourself out of a moment's anger!"

"Don't bother with her," Fu Jingshu said coldly. "If she has the guts, let her jump!"

Everyone stared in disbelief.

Lin Minglan was also stunned. "You, aren't you afraid that if I jump, it will affect your company?"

"I can bear any consequences you bring." Fu Jingshu was in a bad mood and found her dithering even more irritating. "Everyone, disperse. Don't pay attention to her."

With that, he turned and walked away without a second thought.

The crowd was stunned.

Lin Minglan watched his resolute departure, unsure if she should continue her act. This was completely different from the reaction she had expected!

Now she was in a dilemma, neither able to move forward nor back.

Seeing Fu Jingshu walking away, if he really left, this entire performance would be for nothing!

Lin Mo looked at Lin Minglan and finally realized that the woman had no intention of jumping. His earlier tension dissipated. "Miss Lin, if it's too much, why don't you come down? It's already time for work, and everyone needs to get their jobs done."

The gazes of the crowd on her were also complicated, and upon closer inspection, they held a hint of disdain.

Lin Minglan remained motionless, as if frozen in the icy wind. Helpless, she covered her forehead and swayed weakly.

With a thud, she collapsed to the ground, fainted.

This farcical scene ended with her fainting. Everyone dispersed. Lin Mo took her to the hospital. Since the incident had happened at his company, Fu Jingshu also showed up.

Fu Tingyi and Fang Ru also rushed over upon hearing the news. The moment they saw Lin Minglan lying weakly on the hospital bed, they began to blame Fu Jingshu again.

"You child, how can you be so clueless? What's wrong with this girl? If you don't like her, fine, but why did you push her to this point?"

Fu Tingyi questioned.

Fu Jingshu glanced at him indifferently. "You'll have to ask her. She went to the rooftop of my company to jump, claiming she wanted to prove her innocence."

He paused, his voice growing colder.

"I think she wanted to ruin me."

"I didn't!" Lin Minglan quickly retorted, her voice rising slightly before she quickly feigned weakness again. "I just wanted you to know I was innocent. You refused to believe me, so I had no choice but to do that..."

Tears streamed down her face as she spoke.

Fang Ru coaxed her tenderly, "There, there, it's all in the past. To compensate you, I'll have Jingshu stay and take care of you."

She said this without daring to look at Fu Jingshu, as he had never listened to her. She then looked at Fu Tingyi and saw him nod in agreement.

Only then did she feel a little more confident.

"Jingshu, then you stay and look after her. We'll be going now."

Without giving Fu Jingshu a chance to object, the two turned and left.

As soon as they were gone, the hospital room was left with only Lin Minglan and Fu Jingshu. He glanced at his watch, didn't even spare her a glance, and turned to walk towards the door.

Lin Minglan immediately panicked, her weak voice calling out, "Jingshu, don't go. I'm still feeling unwell. Please stay and take care of me for a while."
