Singular Sword to Multitude

Chapter 171 The Death of Kunpeng

Soon after Hongjun departed, Houtu returned to the netherworld.

Taishang observed the sudden influx of people on Kunlun Mountain and felt it was time to assign them some tasks. Moreover, while the Taoist sect had been established, its disciples were far too few.

Taishang looked at Yuanshi and Tongtian and said, "Second and third brothers, it is time for us to accept disciples and strengthen our sect!"

Yuanshi and Tongtian nodded, agreeing with Taishang. However, the three of them did not intend to travel throughout the Primordial World to recruit disciples.

Yuanshi spoke, "I am Yuqing Yuanshi. Today, I wish to accept disciples. All beings from heaven and earth may come to Kunlun. Those with destiny shall enter my fold!"

After Yuanshi finished, Tongtian continued, "I am Shangqing Tongtian. Today, I wish to accept disciples. All beings from heaven and earth may come to Kunlun. Those with destiny shall enter my fold!"

After Tongtian spoke, both Yuanshi and Tongtian looked at Taishang. Taishang shook his head and said, "I have a connection with the human race and shall only accept disciples from among them! Furthermore, my ox is still with the human race, and I should go and recall it."

Upon hearing this, Yuanshi said, "We three brothers are all the holy fathers of the human race. Since eldest brother is going to the human race, we shall also make a trip to the human race and see if there are any exceptionally gifted individuals!"

Tongtian nodded and added, "Second brother speaks wisely. Moreover, we forgot to give them the cultivation techniques we deduced last time. This is a good opportunity to impart them."

Taishang nodded, not disagreeing with Yuanshi and Tongtian. Just as the three were about to leave, Dijun suddenly appeared before them and said, "Greetings to the Three Sages. Dijun wishes to depart for a while!"

Taishang looked at Dijun and asked, "Daoist Dijun, what is the matter?"

Dijun replied, "Kunpeng has betrayed the demon race. I must provide an explanation to all the demons in the world!"

The Sanqing nodded. The three of them indeed disapproved of Kunpeng's actions. Taishang said, "I will not stop you from seeking out Kunpeng, but as the wronged have their culprit and the indebted have their debtor, I hope you will not cause too much of a scene in Beiming."

Dijun bowed and replied, "The Three Sages can rest assured. I only seek Kunpeng's life and will not harm a single soul in Beiming!"

After saying this, Dijun prepared to leave. Taishang, seeing this, approached Yuanshi. Before Taiyi could speak, Yuanshi said, "Go, and protect yourself!"

Taiyi was overjoyed. After thanking Yuanshi, he departed with Dijun for Beiming.

After Dijun and Taiyi left, the Sanqing also planned to depart from Kunlun.

Tongtian looked at the protective array of Kunlun Mountain and, with a wave of his hand, dismantled it. Tongtian felt that Kunlun no longer needed such an array. With four Saints on Kunlun now, in addition to many other high-level combatants, no one in the Primordial World with a shred of sense would dare to cause trouble here. Not to mention Zhenyuanzi, the Wu and Yao tribes alone would be enough to tear apart any invaders of Kunlun, as none of them were to be trifled with.

After the Sanqing left Kunlun, they headed directly for Shouyang Mountain.

After Dijun and Taiyi left Kunlun, Taiyi said, "Eldest brother, after dealing with Kunpeng, I plan to retire to Kunlun. I will spend my days with Changxi and Jiaotu."

Dijun smiled and replied, "That sounds wonderful. I also plan to do the same, accompanying your sister-in-law and the ten little Golden Crows."

Taiyi was surprised and asked, "Are you no longer pursuing the Great Dao?"

Dijun explained, "Now that we are all people of Kunlun, who would be so blind as to offend us! Before, I was obsessed with the Great Dao because I had to protect you all. Now that we are all safe, I don't need to strive so hard."

Taiyi nodded and said, "Eldest brother, shall we visit the Demon Court first?"

Dijun frowned and asked, "Is it because of that young man Xuan Xing?"

Taiyi nodded and replied, "I want to bring him back to Kunlun! He can stay by my side in Kunlun. Now that the Demon Court is no more, it is not safe for him to remain there."

Dijun nodded, and the two then went to the Demon Court.

At Taiyi's residence in the Demon Court, Xuan Xing's face lit up with excitement upon seeing Taiyi.

Taiyi looked at Xuan Xing and said, "Stop smiling like a fool. Pack your things and come with me."

Xuan Xing asked in confusion, "Brother Taiyi, where are we going?"

Taiyi replied without looking back, "We're taking you to Kunlun. We'll be living there from now on."

Xuan Xing nodded, packed his belongings, and left the Demon Court with Taiyi and Dijun.

Upon leaving the Demon Court, Taiyi placed Xuan Xing inside the spatial realm of the Chaos Bell. Dijun looked at Taiyi in confusion, not understanding what he was doing.

Taiyi explained, "He was Kunpeng's subordinate. If he were to learn that Kunpeng betrayed the Demon Court, he might not be able to accept it. We'll let him out when we return to Kunlun."

After Taiyi finished speaking, the two set off at full speed towards Beiming. They were eager to deal with Kunpeng quickly and then return to Kunlun, as their wives and children were now there.

In Beiming, Kunpeng felt a sense of unease all day, as if something were about to happen. Ever since he had stolen Dijun's River Diagram and Luo Book, Kunpeng had returned to the North Sea and had been trying to contact Hongjun, but to no avail. Kunpeng's expression was extremely grim, feeling as though Hongjun was toying with him. Kunpeng was confident that Dijun and Taiyi had perished in the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Array, so he was not overly worried.

When Dijun and Taiyi arrived at Beiming, Taiyi directly summoned the Chaos Bell. A resonant sound, like that of a great bell, immediately echoed across the North Sea.

Hearing the sound of the Chaos Bell in his palace in Beiming, Kunpeng mistook it for the Ancestral Witches coming to thank him, as stealing Dijun's River Diagram and Luo Book had greatly benefited the Wu clan. Kunpeng had not anticipated that the Chaos Bell was still in Taiyi's possession.

Kunpeng eagerly ascended to the surface of the sea. As soon as he appeared, Taiyi struck him fiercely with the Chaos Bell. Before Kunpeng could even see who it was, he felt his hairs stand on end and quickly dove towards the seabed. He then relocated and emerged from the sea again.

As soon as Kunpeng surfaced, he shouted, "Is this how you Wu clan treat me?"

Dijun replied coldly, "Oh? And what kind of thanks did you expect?"

Kunpeng heard the voice and found it familiar, but it was not the voice of the Ancestral Witches. Turning his head, he saw Dijun and Taiyi, their faces like frost. Kunpeng froze for a moment and then prepared to flee. He would never have dared to believe that the Demon Emperor and the Eastern Emperor were still alive, let alone standing before him. Kunpeng seemed unable to believe his eyes, but in the next moment, he bolted.

Taiyi had been wary of Kunpeng escaping. The moment Kunpeng moved, the Chaos Bell let out a deafening roar, and the very space-time of the North Sea was suppressed by it. Dijun also did not stand idle. the instant the Chaos Bell suppressed space-time, he launched his attack, heading straight for Kunpeng. Kunpeng's face changed drastically. He wanted to evade but found himself unable to move. He could only watch helplessly as Dijun's attack landed upon him.

Dijun's strike heavily injured Kunpeng. Taiyi seized the opportunity and enveloped Kunpeng under the Chaos Bell. With another resounding clang from the Chaos Bell, Kunpeng was reduced to a mist of blood. Alas, Kunpeng, the once esteemed Demon Master, perished in the hands of Dijun and Taiyi in an instant.

After reclaiming the River Diagram and Luo Book, Dijun also took away Kunpeng's palace in Beiming. The two then headed for Kunlun.
