A girl in a black tracksuit stood in the carriage, a long saber in her hand, blood dripping from its silver tip.
Zheng Xue walked out and saw the scene.
Instantly, goosebumps rose all over him. This was hell, wasn't it?
The movie scenes were not as realistically terrifying as this.
Xu Qian turned around at the sound, her voice cold and indifferent, "Have you recovered your strength?"
Zheng Xue nodded cautiously, "What happened? And, I want to ask where my bag is?"
He remembered his bag had been by his side all along, containing very important documents that could not be lost.
"Your bag is with me." A dagger materialized in Xu Qian's hand, which she handed to him. "Let's dig out the crystal cores first."
Zheng Xue's eyes widened. How did the dagger appear?
And then suddenly asking him to dig for crystal cores.
What were crystal cores?
What exactly had happened?
Zheng Xue's mind was filled with unanswered questions.
Hearing his thoughts, Xu Qian narrowed her eyes. It seemed he hadn't left the cockpit all month.
"It's the first month of the apocalypse. Have you been in the cockpit for a month without coming out?"
Zheng Xue nodded. When he was on the subway, these people suddenly started biting like mad. There was nowhere to hide. He had barely managed to knock open the cockpit door to escape.
In the end, even the subway driver had gone mad and started biting him. He usually exercised, and subduing a man was not an issue.
But he was too noisy. Even stabbing him through the heart didn't kill him.
Later, somehow, he stopped moving.
Fortunately, he found a bucket of water and a large quantity of instant noodles in the cockpit, and survived by eating them dry.
Eventually, the instant noodles ran out, and the water started to dwindle. He was so hungry he fainted. When he woke up, he saw her, a devil in an angel's skin.
Hearing his thoughts, Xu Qian frowned. So that's what happened.
She hoped the base had records indicating that zombies craved living flesh and blood, and would eat their own kind if there was nothing else, until they were no longer hungry.
The zombies' tireless strength was maintained by blood and flesh. If they didn't eat for a long time, they would starve to death.
However, with tens of millions of zombies, starvation was rare.
She squatted down, casually picked out a head, split it open, stirred it with the dagger, and fished out a white crystal core from the black and white brain matter.
Zheng Xue shivered in fear. How could a girl be so brutal?
"This world has turned into a zombie world. Only a small number of people have survived. The things in the zombies' heads are crystal cores, mainly used for trading or enhancing the abilities of ability users."
Zheng Xue was stunned. He had suspected the people outside were zombies, but he hadn't expected it to become reality.
"What are ability users?"
She held the crystal core, and it disappeared in her palm. There was no sensation in her body. As expected, the crystal core of a level one zombie meant little to her.
"Ability users are like in novels and movies, possessing abilities like metal, wood, water, fire, earth, etc. Not everyone has abilities; only a small portion do."
"Then, then, where do the survivors gather?"
"Survivors are basically living in local bases."
Zheng Xue breathed a sigh of relief. At least there was a place to live. He was an orphan with no family. For him, having a place to stay was enough.
He asked cautiously, "Can you take me to the nearest base?"
"Yes, but you have to help me dig out crystal cores."
Zheng Xue's face turned slightly pale. Would he have to split open a head like she did? And then dig out that thing?
