She walked alone towards the tour buses, five of them, each packed with zombies.
Terrified faces crowded the windows, the glass smeared with various unidentifiable fluids.
Xu Qian crossed her arms, observing them one by one. Two of the buses had their doors shut, leaving her three to choose from.
She selected a bus that was relatively intact and had the most gas.
She did not use her enhanced attack, choosing instead to rely on her own strength for training.
Within ten minutes, the zombies inside were dealt with, and their crystal cores extracted.
After exiting the bus, the corners of Xu Qian's tracksuit were stained with blood. The Whirlwind Squad was also clearing out another bus.
Xu Qian glanced at them from outside the window, the glint of blades and the flash of zombie and human heads alternating. She stood before the bus door and said, "Two people, please clear out the zombies from the bus next to this one."
One of the middle-aged men's eyes widened. While cutting down a zombie, he exclaimed in disbelief, "You're finished already?"
A zombie lunged at his back. Xu Qian leaped forward, swung her blade, and severed the zombie's head.
The middle-aged man stammered, "Thank you." If she hadn't saved him, he would likely be on his way to becoming a zombie by now. Truly, one could not afford to be distracted.
"You guys go clear out the next bus, I'll handle things here."
Witnessing Xu Qian's strength, they began to trust her and quickly departed.
Without their interference, she finished clearing the zombies inside the bus in no time.
Mei Yuebai fought with a frenzied intensity outside, his aura chilling and predatory. He switched between his military knife and his abilities, killing a zombie and extracting a crystal core with terrifying speed.
Leaning against the bus, he narrowed his eyes and observed her. "Mei Yuebai, I'm going back to the hospital."
The boy's voice was hoarse as he replied softly, "You go up first, I'll come later."
Xu Qian frowned. "Go up with me."
His current state reminded her of the last time he had shot many zombies.
"I'm still collecting crystal cores for you, so you don't have to look for them again next time."
Mei Yuebai's movements did not falter, as if he were a robot killing zombies.
Xu Qian's gaze deepened, her voice chilled. "If you don't come, you're not going to G City with me either."
Mei Yuebai's hand paused for a moment. The purple electricity in his palm receded. He curved his thin lips. "Why are you so clingy today?"
He walked forward, embracing her shoulders. A strong scent of blood wafted towards her.
Xu Qian's expression turned cold, and she distastefully pushed his hand away. "Go up and take a shower, you're filthy."
Mei Yuebai paused for a moment, then smiled.
"Alright."
The two returned to the hospital. She retrieved a bucket of purified water and three sets of men's tracksuits from her spatial storage and handed them to Mei Yuebai before returning to her room.
She also needed a shower.
Xu Qian used two buckets of water to thoroughly wash herself clean. She changed into a purple tracksuit, long-sleeved and long-legged, tied her ponytail, and glanced at her watch.
11 o'clock.
Everyone was packing, with bags and luggage piled high in the corridor. She walked to Ye Yunzhou's office and knocked.
"Dr. Ye."
"Come in."
Ye Yunzhou had changed into casual wear, a blue shirt and slacks, no longer wearing his lab coat.
Xu Qian smiled. This attire made him look remarkably like a 30-year-old uncle.
"The two buses downstairs have been cleared. Gather everyone, we're ready to depart. However, when we pass by B City, I need to make a stop to pick up a few people."
"Alright, student Xu, thank you so much."
Ye Yunzhou's eyes curved, as if light were about to spill from his body, warm and beautiful.
Xu Qian looked up at him, grinding her teeth.
She had tolerated the address "student Xu" for a long time.
"Dr. Ye, you can just call me Xu Qian."
Ye Yunzhou lowered his dark eyes and softly agreed.
"Then you go pack up first, I'll be going now."
Xu Qian was thinking of finding Mei Yuebai when he was already packing his gear bag and waiting for her by the door.
The boy's excessively beautiful profile was slightly tilted, his jawline perfect, his Adam's apple visible as he shook his silver hair, water droplets splashing onto the ground.
Xu Qian's eyes narrowed. Her younger brother was a feast for the eyes.
"Let's go."
The two descended the stairs. The two buses had already been cleared and were parked on the first floor.
"Bring the RV over, it's over there." Xu Qian pointed to the left and handed him the car keys. She had hidden them while following him. Knives were one thing, but conjuring a car out of thin air was a bit much.
Most importantly, she was too lazy to explain.
Mei Yuebai paused, then accepted them. He raised an eyebrow and whispered in her ear, "No one has ever ordered me around like this before."
"Oh? You're unwilling?"
"Most willing, Xixi-daren."
