Chapter 52 Hope Base

The convoy set off again, with Gu Qing driving and Mei Yuebai in the passenger seat.

As soon as they got into the car, Gu Qing couldn't stop talking, constantly asking where they had been. Mei Yuebai rubbed his temples, genuinely not understanding why Xu Qian had brought this chatterbox back.

G City Base, also known as Hope Base, was the most populous of the country's three major bases. It was the only large base located in the south. A City Base was in the north, and S City Base was in the east. The west was sparsely populated, and its inhabitants could only choose to flee to the nearest G City Base or establish bases in smaller cities.

They arrived at G City Base.

Seeing the familiar buildings from afar, Xu Qian's pupils constricted.

This was where she had survived for six years in her previous life.

The ruler of G City had rapidly established Hope Base on the second day of the apocalypse. The base was surrounded by an electric fence, which would electrocute anything, living or undead, that came too close.

Hope Base was built on a brand-new residential development, divided into six blocks: A, B, C, D, E, and F. Each block had 30 floors, categorized into low, medium, and high-grade levels. A regular floor had four apartments, a medium-grade floor had two, and a high-grade floor had a single apartment. The square footage varied, with higher-grade apartments being larger.

In addition to the apartments, there were also 20 large villas behind the new development.

Upon entering the base, both ability users and ordinary people had to complete missions. Each day, 100 points were deducted for housing fees. Missions could be undertaken individually or as part of a team, as long as they were completed.

In special circumstances, those over 60 or under 12 years old could remain at the base to assist.

Missions were divided into five tiers: 1-star, 2-star, 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star. The higher the star rating, the greater the difficulty.

Completing a 1-star mission earned 100 points, a 2-star mission 300 points, a 3-star mission 500 points, a 4-star mission 1000 points, and a 5-star mission 2000 points.

Newcomers, whether ability users or ordinary people, were initially assigned to the low-grade floors. Personal points accumulated would allow for promotion to better accommodations.

Medium-grade floors required 2000 points.

High-grade floors required 5000 points.

The top 10 point earners were eligible to move into the villa district.

Upon successful mission completion, points were credited to the account, and staff could be contacted for inquiries.

The convoy reached the base entrance.

The RV gradually came to a halt.

Xu Qian's eyelashes fluttered slightly. Returning to herself, she opened the door and stepped out.

Four gun muzzles were pointed directly at her forehead.

Xu Qian's expression remained unchanged. "We are from F City. Everyone in the vehicle has been checked and has no wounds."

The four soldiers lowered their guns, looking at each other in shock. A small girl had managed to survive until now, and the two buses behind her carried at least a hundred people.

One of the soldiers, with a rigid posture, shouted, "Everyone out of the vehicles. Men and women line up separately, one row per person. Entry into the base requires strict inspection. Any wounds must be isolated for 24 hours."

Xu Qian strode quickly to the two buses and explained the situation to everyone.

Soon, two lines formed, with the number of men being more than three times that of women.

Outside the base, several makeshift tents had been erected. Each person had to undress and be inspected separately.

Xu Qian went first. As they were all women, she felt no shame. In her previous life, every time they returned from a mission, they had to undergo inspections. The staff looked at them like they were pieces of meat, and any delay was met with annoyance. She couldn't be timid every time.

The base was for their safety, and she was long accustomed to it.

After the inspection, they would receive a small green card, and a stamp would be placed on it after each inspection. She was the first to finish and proceed to registration.
