Chapter 20 Are You a Little Dog?

Xu Qian turned and walked downstairs without changing her expression.

Gu Qing trotted after her. How could an angel be the girlfriend of a Tyrannosaurus Rex?

Mei Yuebai raised an eyebrow and tossed the car keys in his hand to Feng Zhoulong. "Wait for me in the car. I'll go take a look."

He strode forward with his long legs and followed.

A glint flashed in Feng Zhoulong's eyes. He fumbled to catch the keys and replied hastily, "Then hurry up and come over."

Down on the first floor, Xu Qian quickened her pace. Gu Qing, although not short at 1.8 meters, had poor stamina. He usually spent his time in the dorm playing games, watching movies, or reading novels – a typical shut-in.

When a white figure zipped past Gu Qing, his eyes bulged so much they almost fell out.

"My god, it's the little Tyrannosaurus Rex catching up!"

Xu Qian sensed the unfamiliar presence behind her and turned back coldly, her gaze as sharp as frost.

Mei Yuebai lowered his eyes and smiled, saying nonchalantly, "It's okay if you don't agree to be my girlfriend, just give me a kiss."

Xu Qian flicked her eyelids up to look at him. The teasing smile in his eyes was almost overflowing.

Xu Qian wondered if all eighteen-year-old boys were like this.

"You should leave immediately. This place is very dangerous."

Mei Yuebai raised his eyebrows indifferently. "Where is safe now?"

"..." Indeed, nowhere was safe anymore.

Seeing that she couldn't persuade him, Xu Qian stopped paying attention to him and walked on.

Gu Qing panted as he followed, his delicate eyebrows furrowed. How could these two have such good stamina?

The teacher's dormitory building was situated between the male and female dormitories, but it was separate from the student dorms.

There were only a few scattered zombies.

The teacher's dormitory was still relatively clean, unlike the male dormitories, which were covered in bloodstains and severed limbs at the base of the building. But… it was eerily quiet.

Xu Qian lowered her gaze. The map showed that the zombies in this building were indeed not numerous.

Although there weren't many zombies, there were some. Xu Qian rotated her right arm and quickly dealt with them.

Gu Qing glanced at the heads on the ground. They were truly ugly. He gritted his teeth, squatted down, and used his dagger to pry open a head. Just as he was about to reach in,

"Here."

A pair of clean gloves and a burlap sack were handed to him. Gu Qing was so moved he felt like crying; he truly was an angel.

The two cooperated seamlessly. One was responsible for killing, the other for prying open heads. Gu Qing's speed gradually caught up with hers.

Mei Yuebai's dark eyes narrowed. He cautiously scanned their surroundings. The silence here was abnormal. It wasn't the weekend, and teachers usually rested in their dorms at night, yet there wasn't a single zombie here, nor any signs of a struggle.

They successfully reached the fifth floor and prepared to open the balcony door.

A roar echoed.

A gray figure flashed and lunged directly at Mei Yuebai, its sharp teeth about to sink into his shoulder.

A flash of steel. Due to its speed, Xu Qian only managed to slice off half of its ear.

The zombie was enraged and turned to attack Xu Qian, but she remained still, her orange eyes locked onto his.

Xu Qian gritted her teeth, suppressed by his psychic power. A sharp pain shot through her head.

This orange-eyed zombie was a level 2 psychic zombie, which was extremely rare. Typically, zombies only developed abilities at level three or above. More importantly, it had sensed that she was a psychic ability user and attacked her with corresponding psychic power.

Xu Qian closed her eyes and focused on feeling the immense psychic power of her ability.

The crystal core in her chest was surrounded by strands of white light, emitting a blinding glow. Soon, she felt a warmth in her consciousness. Tendrils of white silk emerged from her body and tightly wound around the ball of black mist in his mind.

The orange-eyed zombie clutched its head, veins bulging on its neck, emitting roars.

The ball of black mist shrunk smaller and smaller, ensnared by the white threads.

The orange-eyed zombie's limbs became stiff and slow, its body taut. It turned to flee.

Xu Qian narrowed her eyes, dividing her attention between controlling the black mist in his mind and raising her knife to strike.

The orange-eyed zombie's cloudy eyes briefly cleared, turning black. "Quick, kill me!" But then its eyes turned orange again, and it lunged at her.

Even if he hadn't said it, Xu Qian would have killed him. Leaving a level two zombie here would only be a hazard.

[Enhance Attack.]

Xu Qian's body instantly filled with power. She raised her knife and struck. This time, she effortlessly severed its head.

The head rolled to Gu Qing's feet.

Gu Qing quickly pried open its skull. A transparent crystal core gleamed. "Xu Qian, look." Gu Qing held up the shining crystal core.

"Give it to me."

Having overused her abilities, Xu Qian's face was pale, and she felt dizzy. While the enhanced attack increased her strength, it didn't cure the dizziness and headache in her mind.

A crystal core quickly disappeared into her palm.

Her senses restored, Xu Qian glanced at Mei Yuebai, wanting to know if the mission target would die.

[Ding, under normal circumstances, the mission target will not die. Because you are an outsider, the world may change.]

This meant he wouldn't die easily. But he might die because of her. If he died, would she have one less person to strategize against?

[Ding, the system will find an alternative mission target.]

[...] Forget it.

Mei Yuebai's entire body tingled under her glance. He raised the silver pistol in his hand and raised an eyebrow. "Even if you hadn't come to save me, I wouldn't have died."

Xu Qian was not surprised he had a gun; he was the grandson of that important figure. Just having him as a mission target was troublesome.

Gu Qing opened the balcony door, and a strong stench of decaying blood wafted out. Upon seeing the scene inside, "Ugh." Gu Qing's face turned ashen, and he covered his mouth, vomiting.

Xu Qian's eyes darkened. The balcony was piled high with zombie corpses. She observed closely; all these corpses had their crystal cores dug out. No wonder there were so few zombies in the teacher's dormitory building. They had all had their crystal cores removed by the orange-eyed zombie.

The three passed through the pile of corpses and reached the female dormitory balcony door. The door was locked from the inside. Xu Qian frowned, finding it somewhat troublesome. If the lock were in front of her, she could find a way to pry it open.

Before she entered the orphanage, she had learned quite a few tricks from petty theft, mastering picking and opening locks.

Mei Yuebai held up his pistol, a smirking, infuriating smile on his face. "Just one shot."

Xu Qian's gaze was calm, filled with disdain. "Do you want all the zombies to come up to the sixth floor?"

Mei Yuebai's lips curved into a mischievous smile. He bit down on the pistol, took a black object from his backpack, and fitted it onto the gun. He raised the pistol and fired a shot at the doorknob. A muffled sound followed.

The door opened.

Mei Yuebai winked at her, his face full of a desire for praise and commendation.

Xu Qian couldn't help but let a faint smile spread across her features. He looked like a golden retriever wagging its tail, wanting a hug.

"Are you a puppy?"
