Chapter 35 We Will Definitely Bring Her Out

Cheng Liangqing looked up at her and asked, "You've had quite a bit to drink too. How about resting for a while? It's only 10 o'clock."

"No, we'll be quick," Xu Qian pressed her temples and walked towards the exit.

Before long, Cheng Liangqing drove out a police car, a black anti-riot vehicle for special forces.

Xu Qian breathed a sigh of relief. This type of vehicle was safer than her RV.

Once inside, she quickly lowered the passenger seat. "I'm going to sleep for a bit. Wake me if anything happens."

"Okay."

It was a two-hour drive from City B to City F.

The nights in the apocalypse were silent and filled with terror. There wasn't a single light on the road, and the lights of the tall buildings were no longer shining. Vehicles seemed to emerge from the endless darkness.

Cheng Liangqing glanced at her sleeping face, then quickly looked ahead, his heart pounding like a drum.

They took the highway the whole way, and the road conditions were manageable, with not many cars on the highway.

As they drove through the city, cars were backed up on the road, and countless zombies roamed. Zombies were most active at night. They worked for 12 hours during the day and were even more excited for 12 hours at night. They felt no fatigue or pain, only endless biting.

Cheng Liangqing narrowed his eyes. Even in City B, he hadn't seen so many zombies. Moreover, he usually went out during the day and stayed in at night.

"Xu Qian."

Her thick eyelashes slowly fluttered open, her eyes completely unfocused, her voice hoarse, "Hmm, are we there?"

She looked like she had just woken up.

Cheng Liangqing's dark eyes flickered, and he quickly averted his gaze.

"About 10 minutes left. There are too many zombies and cars ahead. I'm going to ram through them."

Xu Qian nodded, pulled her seat back, and looked straight ahead.

Cheng Liangqing gripped the steering wheel and pressed the accelerator to the floor. The vehicle shot forward like an arrow, directly at the zombies and cars.

Police cars, whether for collision resistance or insulation, were exceptionally good. Xu Qian only felt a slight lurch and almost nothing else. The cars in front were sent flying, and the limbs and black blood of zombies splattered on the windshield. He didn't stop, but instead increased the car's speed to the maximum, charging forward before the zombies could regroup.

Upon reaching City F University, there weren't many zombies following them. Zombies had no sight or smell; they relied on hearing. Level one zombies moved slowly. Once the car was far away and they could no longer hear it, the zombies would slowly stop and continue to roam.

The school gate was not closed. From a distance, the campus was packed with zombies, exceptionally dense.

Xu Qian's eyes darkened slightly as she stared straight ahead. "There are too many zombies. We can't enter through the main gate. Let's circle the outside of the school first and see if there's a back entrance."

Cheng Liangqing's face was grim. There were more zombies in the school than he had imagined. Getting into the dormitory to retrieve Xiaoya's body would be extremely difficult.

The car drove around the perimeter of the school. The back gate was locked, but the wall behind the dormitory wasn't too high.

They decided to climb over the wall to get in. As Xu Qian unbuckled her seatbelt, ready to get out, Cheng Liangqing stopped her. "Xu Qian, you wait for me here. If I'm not out in two hours, you should leave."

Xu Qian frowned, looking at Cheng Liangqing's lowered, handsome face strangely. She said, "I promised. I will definitely do it. Let's get out and park the car. We'll climb over from the roof."

"There are too many zombies inside. I'm not confident I can get out myself." After five years of policing, of going through life and death situations, he had never felt so uncertain. It wasn't fear of death, but fear for her.

Xu Qian understood that Cheng Liangqing didn't want to endanger her, but this was a mission worth 300 points.

A faint smile appeared in her dark, bright eyes. Her usually cool voice softened. "Let's go. We'll definitely bring her out. Okay?"

He looked up and met her eyes. "Thank you, Xu Qian."
