The second floor was the departure hall. There were even more zombies than on the lower floor, with scattered luggage and parcels littering the ground.
It was a mess.
Suddenly, Xu Qian had a flash of inspiration. Even if there were people surrounding them outside, a high-speed train had tracks.
They could run along the tracks and still escape.
With thousands of black-clothed figures and only two of them, no matter how strong they were, they would be like striking a stone with an egg.
Xu Qian had no intention of fighting head-on. The base could be revisited another time; there was only one life.
"Xu Lu, over here!"
As Xu Qian turned to run towards the tracks, Xu Lu grabbed her hand.
"Sister, there's another entrance here."

After a moment of consideration, Xu Qian decided to take the risk.
They were already so cornered that she would be letting them down if she didn't give them a little excitement.

Xu Lu was the target of the mission, so she wasn't afraid he would trick her. As for how he knew, she could interrogate him later.
The convenience store was a typical chain store, not large, and one could see its entirety at a glance.
The shelves were mostly untouched, with a ring of beverage coolers around the perimeter.
With no space, the food had long since spoiled.
"Xu Lu, where is the entrance?"
Xu Lu scratched his long brown hair. He only remembered there was an entrance but didn't know where it was.
The sound of dense footsteps slowly approached.
Xu Qian frowned slightly and pulled him to hide beneath the counter.
Xu Lu could only control zombies, not people. Although her magic bell could control them, constantly shaking her wrist was exhausting.
Soon, a male voice came from outside.
"Split up and search!"
"Yes."
Xu Lu's expression was innocent, and he said pitifully, "Sister, I forgot where the mechanism is."
Even when he lowered his voice, his tone was crisp, like a young boy's.
Xu Qian narrowed her eyes slightly and leaned close to his ear, asking softly, "How did you know?"
Xu Lu's ear tickled, and he turned his face away.
He truly didn't know why he knew.

When she first met him, he was a zombie who couldn't speak. She thought he was just special.

Xu Lu, bored out of his mind, pulled open the drawer of the counter.
Suddenly, a black, unknown object flew out of the drawer.
Xu Lu opened his large palm and caught the thing barehanded.
It was a mutated mosquito the size of his palm. Its long body was covered in zebra stripes, its large red and black compound eyes stared, and its blood-sucking proboscis twitched, seemingly unconvinced.
Xu Qian narrowed her eyes slightly. How did this thing crawl out of a cabinet?
She had run around for so long and hadn't seen any.
Suddenly, Xu Qian quickly pulled out several drawers and placed them aside.
Sure enough, there was a dark hole underneath.
Mutated insects were usually released in batches. Just one?
It must have escaped.
"Little Lu, let's go down."
Xu Lu remained motionless. He lowered his head and dismembered the mosquito, first pulling off its wings, then its mouthparts, then its legs.
Xu Qian's eyes were filled with disgust. She called out softly, "Xu Lu, are you coming?"
Suddenly, Xu Lu stomped on the mutated mosquito, crushing it. White fluid splattered everywhere.
Xu Qian's eyelids tightened, and she raised her hand to press her temples.
She didn't care if he was coming or not and turned to jump down.
