Chapter 375: Chapter 359: I’ll Take the Scolding Because I Love My Wife

Ji Wei was scared to the point of not daring to breathe. Luckily, the car windows were tinted, and it was night time, so no one outside could see inside. She bit her lip and carefully took a peek, finally letting out a slight sigh of relief.

It wasn’t the scar-faced man!

The man’s face turned, and she could clearly see that although he looked somewhat fierce, there were no scars on his face.

She was too nervous and had mistaken him. However, even just looking at the man’s back, her heart couldn’t calm down for a long time. Her fingers clenched tightly into fists. She turned her head to look at Xiao Liu, "Xiao Liu, talk to me for a bit."

Xiao Liu was startled for a moment and sensed that something was off about Ji Wei. She asked softly, "Sister Ji, what are you afraid of?"

"Nothing." Ji Wei shook her head, fearing that someone would see through her thoughts. She tried hard to smile to prove that she was okay, but the forced smile scared Xiao Liu.

It was so strained that Xiao Liu didn’t dare to say much more, afraid of upsetting Ji Wei. She hurriedly said, "It’s good if there’s nothing wrong."

Seeing that Ji Wei didn’t want to talk much, a wave of anger surged in her heart. She suppressed it, not wanting to scare Xiao Liu away.

Gripping her phone tightly, she silently repeated Leng Yan’s name in her heart, which brought her some calm. However, the grievances in her heart couldn’t be dispelled. She missed Leng Yan, always wanting to hold him when she slept, but he was always too busy.

Dr. Wang’s matters in the United States had been delayed in getting resolved. When Leng Yan prepared to wait longer, he unexpectedly found Leng Siyan had arranged for both of them to get a check-up together.

"They’re all gastrointestinal exams. Dr. Ma is very familiar with me and is very skilled. Yan, you should join too." Leng Siyan gently persuaded when they arrived at the hospital.

Leng Yan shook his head, "Dad, you focus on your check-up. I’ll be fine waiting."

Dr. Ma chuckled, "Could it be that the Second Young Master doubts my medical skills?"

"You were recommended to Dad by Uncle Wang, how could I not trust you?" Leng Yan agreed with a smile, "I’m just afraid of troubling Dr. Ma. Since you’ve said it, I’ll join in."

He had rushed over in the morning and hadn’t had time for breakfast, so all the examination items could be done.

"Yan, you should go home and rest too. These days, your elder brother is keeping an eye on things at the company. Take a few days to rest."

When leaving the hospital, Leng Siyan patted his shoulder and earnestly told Leng Yan, "I’m getting older and increasingly realizing the importance of health. It’s a bit late for me to start taking care. Yan, you’re still young. You have to prioritize your health."

"Thank you, Dad," Leng Yan said sincerely, feeling a bit warm inside.

Living this far, it was the first time he felt he could receive his father’s affection. Just about to agree to take a few days’ rest, he glanced at Leng Ye standing beside Leng Siyan and changed his mind with an easy smile, "Dad, I won’t go to the office this afternoon. I’ll go home and have a good sleep. I’ll continue to work tomorrow."

If he took a few days’ rest, Leng Ye would surely tell Ji Wei. And Ji Wei’s entanglement would make him feel more exhausted than going to work.

"Yan truly cares for the Leng Family," Leng Ye said with a faint smile, supporting Leng Siyan, "Dad, I’ll take you home, and let Yan go back and rest too. We’ll have to wait a few days for the results."

"That’s fine," Leng Siyan nodded, watching Leng Yan leave, with a trace of guilt in his eyes.

He had high expectations for Leng Yan, but the love he gave was meager. Perhaps due to age, he increasingly felt guilty towards this son.

Sitting in the car, Leng Yan noticed it was still early and curved his lips into a smile, giving Wen Nuan a call.

"Hmm, it’s only about five hundred miles from here to T City," Nuannuan reported the latest schedule to him over the phone. "The hotel room I’m staying in is..."

She described it in detail, then couldn’t help but laugh, "Yan, why are you asking so clearly when you can’t come over to accompany me?"

Leng Yan chuckled, "Suddenly felt like sending you a gift."

"Not interested!" Wen Nuan wrinkled her nose, stepping over some pebbles and sitting down on a rock by a small creek. "Unless you pack yourself over, then I’d be happy."

"Do you really miss me that much?" Leng Yan smiled, eyes filled with tenderness, his voice lowering, raspy with a penetrating quality, "Nuannuan, I miss you."

"Me too," Wen Nuan sniffed, her eyes red.

She couldn’t bear it when he spoke hoarsely and affectionately about missing her. Hearing it made her nose tingle, giving rise to an urge to cry. She missed him, missed him immensely.

Not wanting Leng Yan to worry about her, she saw Tong Xi waving at her from ahead, so Wen Nuan hung up the call, "Yan, Xixi is calling me. I’ll send you photos once we’ve taken them, okay?"
