Chapter 302: Chapter 298: The Flower Thief

N City Airport.

After parking the car, Leng Yan carried a bouquet of flowers and strode towards the arrivals hall.

He had finished all his work documents for the day and even specially asked his secretary to cancel all social engagements, just so he could come to pick up Wen Nuan and take her home, then spend some quality time with her.

The arrival screen already showed that the flight Wen Nuan was on had safely landed. Holding the flowers, his palms were sweating out of nervousness.

He had visited several florists but couldn’t find gardenias, so he had to buy other flowers to welcome her.

The florist said that a hundred roses represent a hundred percent love. Without a second thought, he had them wrapped. One hundred percent... that’s his heart...

The florist also said that the language of calla lilies is "love forever," so he asked the staff to add two stems to the roses. One to represent him and one for Wen Nuan, hoping their love would last forever.

Even so, his heart was still racing uncontrollably as he stared at the exit, experiencing what it truly meant to be eagerly anticipating.

Wen Nuan came out of the exit with Lin Xue and the others, deliberately trailing behind, her eyes constantly searching. Yesterday, Leng Yan said he would come to pick her up, leaving her both nervous and excited.

As long as there were no more entanglements with Ji Wei, she was willing to let go of that matter completely. It had been three long years waiting for the one she loved, and she knew better than anyone else the hardships involved. She wasn’t ready to give up on this love.

"Nuannuan, hurry up." Lin Xue and several colleagues chatted and laughed, not seeing Wen Nuan’s shadow, so they turned back to call her. Her husband had to go on a business trip last minute and couldn’t pick her up in person, so they had to take the company car back.

"Driver, you can go. Leng Yan will pick me up." Wen Nuan whispered softly to Lin Xue as she ran over.

Lin Xue paused for a moment, then a slow smile spread across her lips, "Alright, since you can forgive and forget, I hope you’ll be happy."

She knew Wen Nuan well and understood her. In truth, if she were in the same situation where Leng Yan hadn’t done it intentionally, she might also not have walked away as nonchalantly as Wen Nuan.

People have emotions, and emotions are like countless intertwined threads with strong resilience that are not easily cut. That’s why the ancient metaphor of ’lotus root breaks but the fiber remains’ aptly describes human emotions.

"I will be." Wen Nuan confidently smiled, walking slowly, continuing to search for his figure. Her eyes suddenly caught a tall and proud shadow, and she couldn’t help but smile mischievously, pushing the new hat lower on her head.

Many people passed by, but Leng Yan still couldn’t find Wen Nuan’s figure. He didn’t know how many tissues he had used to wipe the sweat from his palms. A sense of unease filled his heart; perhaps she didn’t come back after all.

Had his test not yet been passed, or did she suddenly not want to forgive him anymore?

No matter the reason, he found it hard to accept. Taking his phone out of his pocket, he called her number, but it was still turned off.

Staring blankly at the diminishing crowd of arrivals, Leng Yan’s heart sank further.

He had just seen Lin Xue leave, thinking she was right behind, but now it seemed not so.

Wen Nuan stood behind him, watching the roses and calla lilies cradled in his palms through her large sunglasses, and felt a sweet sensation in her heart. Her lips curled with a mischievous grin, and quickly she reached out to grab the flowers and ran.

Today, she was wearing a new outfit from Milan. To keep cool, she had styled her ponytail slightly into an updo, added a hat and large sunglasses, confident that Leng Yan wouldn’t easily recognize her.

"Hey, my flowers!"

Leng Yan, realizing something was missing from his hands, was startled. Without much thought, he chased after her. After a few steps, he saw the "flower thief’s" silhouette and suddenly smiled, but didn’t stop running.

He should have guessed; if it really were a thief, they wouldn’t have stolen flowers. Her willingness to play this game with him brought him immense joy, indicating that Wen Nuan had truly forgiven him.

Finally, when he cornered Wen Nuan, seeing her with nowhere to run, Leng Yan’s lips spread into a wider smile: "Dear wife, you thought I wouldn’t recognize you dressed like this?"

Wen Nuan hummed, playing with the roses in her hand: "What if you recognize me? I’m taking the flowers my husband gave me, even the police uncle wouldn’t care."

"So you’ve acknowledged me as your husband and stopped coldly calling me by my name?"

It had been so long since he heard those words that Leng Yan felt a little surprised and delighted. He stepped forward and embraced her in front of everyone, whispering softly in her ear, his voice low and tender.

Since that incident, she had always called him "Leng Yan," her voice cold and distant, driving him insane.

Wen Nuan smiled with her lips curved, but tears welled up in her eyes: "I didn’t call you for no reason, husband is just mine, I won’t allow anyone else to share with me."

Be it Ji Wei or any other woman who liked him, she wanted him to belong entirely to her alone.

Her tears pierced his heart sharply, making it ache as he bent down to kiss her tears, Leng Yan’s voice a vow: "Rest assured, I am only yours, and always will be yours."

In future times, no matter what happens, he would never change his mind.

On the way back to the villa, Tong Xi called, saying she wanted to welcome Wen Nuan. Wen Nuan’s tongue barely moved to say "okay" before Leng Yan ruthlessly interjected: "Today, she belongs only to me."

When they got home, Sister Ping was busy in the kitchen. Seeing Nuannuan and Leng Yan returning together, her lips revealed a smile she couldn’t conceal.

"Sister Ping, why are you preparing so early?"

It was still early, Wen Nuan looked at Sister Ping in surprise: "So many dishes?"

There wouldn’t be guests at home, but looking at the dishes, it seemed like all her favorites.

Sister Ping looked at her and just smiled: "Young Madam just returned, aren’t you tired?"

Finding no answers, Wen Nuan could only cast a puzzled glance at Leng Yan. He just smiled silently, pulling her up the stairs: "Don’t worry about so much now, your task is to rest well."

The evening’s matters, he would arrange worthily.

All that he owed her, he intended to repay completely.

In the bedroom, lying on their large bed meant for the two of them. Wen Nuan closed her eyes and then opened them, looking at Leng Yan softly asking: "Aren’t you going to work?"

There was still a while before the workday ended, and Leng Yan had never missed going to the company for personal matters.

"Today, I’m staying with you."

Leng Yan climbed onto the bed, lying sideways and gazing at her with a gentle smile. Suddenly, he stretched out his arm towards her: "Nuannuan, pinch me, tell me this isn’t a dream."

During this period, he had been lying alone in the bedroom every day, the cold atmosphere of the house suffocating him. With Wen Nuan back by his side, his heart bubbled with colorful balloons as if living in a dream.

"I won’t pinch you; I’ll let you think you’re in a dream after all."

Wen Nuan deliberately teased him, suddenly feeling something poking her as she moved. She frowned slightly, her fingers brushing against two hard objects, pulling them out, she was somewhat amused: "Why are these here?"
