Chapter 53: Chapter 10: The Black Witch (Part 2)

Unicorn?

No!

This isn’t a unicorn; it looks more like a nightmare.

It races across the turbulent river surface, swiftly approaching, then Su Ziyu feels a wave of heat coming straight at him. The knight on the unicorn’s back waves his hand, and a menacing, giant fire serpent appears out of thin air, charging directly towards the Winter Witch.

"Go!"

"Leave here!"

The Winter Witch uses a chilling gust of wind to send Su Ziyu flying over ten meters away, then stretches her hand to the calm river surface, and with a wave of her hand, an ice barrier appears before her.

Another fire serpent emerges.

With a piercing screech, the unicorn suddenly accelerates, crashing directly towards her position.

Su Ziyu wonders if it’s an illusion, but he feels the Winter Witch seems a bit weak at night, lacking the terrifying aura she has during the day.

This supernatural confrontation isn’t something he can be involved in, so Su Ziyu follows his instinct and retreats constantly, watching from afar the intense clash of ice and fire power. He doesn’t know why, but most of the time, the Winter Witch is on defense, rarely taking the initiative to attack.

Wait.

Unicorn?

During the day, Pick mentioned that the Summer Witch loves unicorns, and it’s not unusual to see her riding a unicorn in the forest.

The person on the unicorn is the Summer Witch?

While Su Ziyu is pondering, the situation in battle changes again; the unicorn-incarnated nightmare smashes the ice barrier, accompanied by a muffled sound, and the Winter Witch’s figure is knocked flying backwards.

What’s going on?

Didn’t Pick say that the Winter Witch is the strongest among the four sisters?

Why was she defeated so quickly?

Could he be lying?

Su Ziyu takes a deep breath, taking off the BTL82M Anti-Material Sniper Rifle from his back. Finally finding some clues, they are about to be severed again. More importantly, the Winter Witch said she would help him leave here, so even if not for the mission, Su Ziyu must find a way to save her.

Besides.

Back then, Su Ziyu couldn’t outrun a radiation giant; he doesn’t believe he can now outrun a unicorn-turned nightmare.

What to do if you can’t outrun it?

Face it head-on!

Su Ziyu sets up the Anti-Material Sniper Rifle and directly aims at the distant unicorn, remembering the saying, "Shoot the horse first to bring down the rider," he thinks of disabling that unicorn.

Bang!

In the dull sound of gunfire, the rapidly running unicorn suddenly lets out a distressful cry, and a terrifying wound appears in its abdomen area, scattering a large amount of blood and flesh amidst the explosive flames. This shot didn’t create a hole in its body directly but still caused considerable damage, and what makes Su Ziyu glad is that this unicorn is a flesh-and-blood life form.

As long as it’s a flesh-and-blood life form, his Anti-Material Sniper Rifle will be useful.

Swap to armor-piercing bullets.

The flames of high-explosive rounds seem completely ineffective against this unicorn; the real damage comes from the bullet’s penetration and explosive impact.

——"Time Acceleration!"

Bang bang bang!

Three armor-piercing rounds fire almost within a second, and the next moment, the unicorn’s body bursts into blooms of blood, falling down amidst its cries of distress, followed by the person riding it. The physical resilience of such a legendary creature is indeed astonishing, possibly even surpassing the super mutants in strength, though it doesn’t possess the terrifying regenerative ability of super mutants.

Although Su Ziyu’s three consecutive shots didn’t kill it immediately, they completely disabled its ability to move.

Severe blood loss.

The unicorn’s blood spills across the nearby land, and then Su Ziyu sees the person riding it stand up, and suddenly, a deep red flame ignites on the ground. In the flames, the unicorn’s flesh gradually strips away, then a skeletal horse rises up, looking like it came from the depths of Hell.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

The distant changes don’t deter Su Ziyu from continuing his attack. For a sniper who can’t run, the best response is to unleash as much firepower as possible while maintaining enough distance, trying to eliminate the enemy from afar.

Bang.

An armor-piercing bullet struck the head of the skeleton horse, cracks appearing on its hard bones. The figure had just mounted the horse, only to be thrown off the next moment.

The power of the anti-material sniper rifle was astounding!

This weapon was originally designed to take out tanks, but as tank armor became thicker, it was relegated to dealing with armored vehicles, aircraft, ships, bunkers, and the like.

Bang.

Dust flew as a deep crater appeared on the ground; the second bullet missed its target.

Bang.

The third bullet hit the skeleton horse’s head again, shattering its skull and breaking off the unicorn horn.

This time.

The skeleton horse finally stopped struggling, its entire skeleton scattered across the ground, seemingly dead for good.

Phew.

Su Ziyu exhaled deeply, raising his hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.

But in the next second, his hair stood on end, for he saw the fallen figure suddenly rise into the air and charge aggressively towards him.

Damn!

If you can fly, why did you use a unicorn to deceive me?

Where’s the basic trust between people?

Without thinking, Su Ziyu hoisted the anti-material sniper rifle and ran off. In the midst of a violent explosion, the rising flames nearly scorched the hair on the back of his head. Fortunately, the Winter Witch appeared just in time to intercept the person again. Su Ziyu didn’t look back, running nearly three hundred meters before stopping and turning to look.

Two figures were locked in combat in the distance, their fiery red hair dancing in the wind. It seemed that this person was also a witch.

"Could it really be the Summer Witch?" Su Ziyu aimed his rifle at the silhouette in mid-air, the dark red firelight strikingly visible in the night.

No matter.

Su Ziyu took a deep breath, tightly locking onto the target in the air, then abruptly pulled the trigger.

Bam!

A burst of blood appeared in mid-air.

The person’s body didn’t seem as strong as the unicorn’s!

"No!!!" the Winter Witch cried out, but it was too late. The figure had already fallen from the sky, red hair flying, hollow eyes, a pale yet beautiful face, plummeting to the ground with a heavy thud.

The Winter Witch cradled the fallen figure, her voice choked as she said, "Sister!..."

Dark tendrils of energy began to emanate from the person’s body, slowly merging with the Winter Witch’s form.

At this moment.

The entire world seemed to change. Under Su Ziyu’s stunned gaze, light snow began to fall from the sky, the surrounding temperature dropping rapidly, as if winter had arrived in the blink of an eye.

"Mortal. You have disrupted the balance of the seasons."

The Winter Witch stood up, a bitterly cold wind howling past her. She spoke with an impassive face, "Though you have freed my sister, you’ve destroyed the last protective barrier of the Dream Forest."

"Those things will awaken again!..."

The fog seemed to dissipate greatly.

In the shock and fear reflected in Su Ziyu’s eyes, countless vines rose in the distant sunflower field, distorted human faces on sunflowers entangling together, copious soil and roots mixed as a scarecrow tens of meters tall appeared in the empty field. Its body was composed of the massive hidden roots of the sunflowers, its clothes made of the twisted human faces on the flowers. It stood motionless in the barren field, but an overwhelming evil presence pervaded the air, so terrifying that even a glance was enough to instill irrepressible horror.

The once-dead silent town suddenly shook violently.

A multitude of houses, rubble, and earth soared into the sky, assembling together. The tall windmills formed its limbs, rubble and earth its torso, and wood and stones stitched together its skeleton. Finally, an enormous clay figure, as grand as a small mountain, emerged. Its face bore a sinister grin, resembling those of the great elves, a comical big nose comprising chimneys. Two hands cradled a black clay apple as it sat, staring silently.

Deeper in the forest, there seemed to be changes as well. Countless trees appeared to rise in shadows, yet the distance made it impossible to see clearly.

"Heh heh."

A hoarse and piercing laugh resonated, Jack’s figure emerging from the darkness. Looking at the nearby Winter Witch, he mocked, "Bah! What last protective barrier of the Dream Forest!"

"How long are you, a lunatic, going to uphold this illusory facade?"

With that, Jack bowed to Su Ziyu before him, like a polite clown, yet his expression was full of madness as he said, "Human!"

"Welcome to the true Dream Realm!"
