Chapter 8 The President's Cannon Fodder Original Wife

Yue Qing told her mother about the dinner date with Zhou Shengyang the next day. Her parents already knew she knew Zhou Shengyang, and they were also hoping to set them up.

Seeing Yue Qing’s conflicted expression, Mother Song knew her daughter was serious about Zhou Shengyang this time.

Father and Mother Song were quite satisfied with Zhou Shengyang. The Zhou family had a strict upbringing, and the family members were all good people with good character. Therefore, they were happy to see Yue Qing and Zhou Shengyang interacting.

“Yesterday, your aunt sent you the latest styles from her studio. I haven't hung them up for you yet,” Mother Song said, pointing to the exquisite boxes piled in the cloakroom.

Mother Song’s name was Lin Xinxue, and she came from the scholarly Lin family. The aunt Mother Song mentioned was Lin Xinyu, Mother Song’s sister and a renowned fashion designer who owned a studio. She would send some new clothes to the Song family whenever the season changed or new designs were released.

Yue Qing opened the boxes. Inside, many delicate and beautiful clothes were neatly arranged. Mother Song walked over to help Yue Qing choose.

Mother Song selected a simple white dress adorned with lace trim for Yue Qing. She held the dress up against Yue Qing, gesturing, “This one it is.”

Yue Qing looked in the mirror and felt it was indeed very nice, so she nodded, “Mmm, thank you, Mom. You have great taste.”

Having resolved Yue Qing’s dilemma, Mother Song urged her to get some rest.

Yue Qing also asked Mother Song to return to her room to rest.

After escorting her mother out, Yue Qing returned to her bed, a sweet emotion filling her heart as she drifted into a deep sleep.

The next day, Zhou Shengyang drove to the Song residence to pick up Yue Qing. Yue Qing was wearing the dress she had chosen the previous night. The white gown hugged her waist, making her appear graceful and ethereal, and further enhancing her sweet countenance.

Zhou Shengyang’s gaze was fixed on Yue Qing, a look of stunning admiration flashing in his eyes. “Ran Ran, you look so beautiful today.”

“Mmm, thank you.” All women enjoyed being complimented on their beauty, especially when it came from someone they liked.

Today, Zhou Shengyang was dressed in a sharp suit, paired with a striped tie, making him appear even more handsome and dashing.

Zhou Shengyang opened the car door for Yue Qing, and then they drove to the restaurant. They chatted idly in the car, and soon, they arrived at their dining destination.

The restaurant was located in a tall building in the city center. Due to its high elevation, diners at this restaurant could enjoy a breathtaking night view, which made it quite famous in Yancheng.

Upon their arrival, a waiter led Yue Qing and Zhou Shengyang to a window seat. The location was excellent, and the surroundings were quiet.

After Yue Qing sat down, she gazed at the city’s night view outside. It was bustling and vibrant, beautiful and enchanting. As dusk fell, the city transformed into an ocean of lights, a world of illumination, colorful and dazzling.

After Zhou Shengyang ordered their meal from the waiter, he tenderly watched Yue Qing’s serene and beautiful profile.

Yue Qing turned her head and found Zhou Shengyang staring at her. Her cheeks flushed instantly, and her face turned red.

“Why have you been staring at me?” Yue Qing asked with a smile.

Zhou Shengyang looked at Yue Qing with soft eyes. “Ran Ran, you look so beautiful today.”

“You already said that,” Yue Qing replied with a smile.

Zhou Shengyang’s lips curved slightly, forming a pleasing arc. His obsidian-like eyes held a gentle glow. He looked at Yue Qing and said softly, “I want to say it my whole life. Ran Ran, I like you. The moment I saw you, I fell for you. I want to be with you. Will you be my girlfriend?”

Although she had anticipated what would happen today, Yue Qing was still overjoyed when she heard Zhou Shengyang’s confession. Her heart pounded in her chest.

Yue Qing, caught in Zhou Shengyang’s tender gaze, nodded subconsciously, “Mmm.”

Seeing Yue Qing nod in agreement, Zhou Shengyang’s mood lifted. He took Yue Qing’s hands, which were resting on the table, and gently caressed them.

“Ran Ran, I’m so happy. Thank you for agreeing to be with me,” Zhou Shengyang said joyfully.

Yue Qing looked at Zhou Shengyang and replied earnestly, “Zhou Shengyang, I like you too.”

Yue Qing believed that when both parties liked each other, they should express it, not just have one person confess.

After hearing her, Zhou Shengyang’s face radiated a tenderness and happiness that seemed about to overflow. “Ran Ran, meeting you is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. I am truly fortunate to have met you.”

Yue Qing offered a sweet smile, her heart filled with the same sweetness.

When the waiter began serving the dishes, Zhou Shengyang thoughtfully cut Yue Qing’s steak for her and then handed it to her. “Try it. This restaurant not only has a great view, but the food is also delicious.”

“Mmm.” Yue Qing took a bite with her fork. “It’s really delicious. You eat too; don’t just keep serving me.”

They finished their meal in a romantic and sweet atmosphere, then sat for a while longer, admiring the night view and talking with their hands clasped.

Later, seeing that it was getting late, they paid the bill and left.

Zhou Shengyang held Yue Qing’s hand as they walked out of the restaurant and to the elevator lobby to wait.

“Ding.”

The elevator arrived, and the doors opened.

Yue Qing saw two people standing inside the elevator: a slightly overweight middle-aged man in his forties, and a young woman with a shapely figure and sunglasses.

Although the young woman wore sunglasses, Yue Qing recognized her as Chen Yu.

Yue Qing then remembered what Xiao Jiu had told her about the female lead, Chen Yu, and realized that the man beside her must be Fourth Master Wu.

Chen Yu and Fourth Master Wu also saw Yue Qing and Zhou Shengyang. “Mr. Zhou, good evening. Out on a date with your girlfriend?” Fourth Master Wu greeted Zhou Shengyang first. Zhou Shengyang was well-known in Yancheng, coming from the Zhou family and being a young talent who acted prudently. He was gradually taking over the Zhou family’s businesses, so Fourth Master Wu had interacted with him a few times.

Zhou Shengyang replied, “Good evening, Fourth Master Wu.”

Then, Zhou Shengyang, holding Yue Qing’s hand, entered the elevator.

Inside the elevator, Fourth Master Wu tried to make small talk with Zhou Shengyang, but Zhou Shengyang responded politely and with brief pleasantries.

Meanwhile, Chen Yu, standing beside Fourth Master Wu, kept stealing glances at Yue Qing and Zhou Shengyang. She felt very flustered, wondering if Yue Qing had recognized her.

Every time she went out with Fourth Master Wu, she would disguise herself, fearing that someone would recognize her and that this matter would be exposed to Shen Yian.

Yue Qing recognized Chen Yu but did not greet her.

There were several hotels on the upper floors of the restaurant. The moment Yue Qing saw Chen Yu, she knew what she and Fourth Master Wu were doing there.

Clearly, Chen Yu’s disguise was meant to hide the fact that she was now Fourth Master Wu’s mistress.

Of course, Yue Qing had no desire to acknowledge her. When Fourth Master Wu greeted them, Yue Qing simply followed behind Zhou Shengyang, offering a polite acknowledgment, and then stood quietly beside Zhou Shengyang.
