Chapter 299 Going to Work 3

“Are you alright?” Chen Tianming asked with some concern.

“I’m fine.” Fang Miaomiao waved her hand dismissively, brushing the sand off her arm.

“I just remembered, where’s your assistant?”

“There was a family emergency. She called me last night and said she’d be here tomorrow.”

Chen Tianming nodded. “That must have been tough. Can you continue?”

“Of course, I’m not injured.” Fang Miaomiao chuckled. “Director, you can’t just pass the buck to me because you want to slack off.”

“You little devil.” Chen Tianming rolled his eyes, feigning anger as he raised his megaphone. “Say one more bad word about me, and I’ll make you roll around on the ground a few more times.”

Fang Yan Huan watched the bickering group, biting her lip as she stood to the side, unsure whether to step forward.

“Yan Huan?”

Fang Yan Huan looked up and smiled at Wen Wenlan, shaking her head. “I’m fine. Sister Miaomiao lived a hard life before, so it’s good for her to have more friends now.”

Wen Wenlan felt a pang of sympathy. He wanted to pull Yan Huan into his arms, but there were too many people around. If he did, it would surely cause unnecessary trouble. “Yan Huan, you are the most amazing person to me.”

Fang Yan Huan smiled and glanced at Chen Tianming and the others, speaking with determination, “Wenlan, I will work hard.”

Wen Wenlan breathed a sigh of relief and gently patted Fang Yan Huan’s head. “I know, Yan Huan will definitely become very capable.”

“Yes, then Wenlan and I will meet at the summit.”

Under the sunlight.

A gentle breeze tousled Fang Yan Huan’s hair.

Wen Wenlan watched the scene unfold before him, his heart pounding wildly.

This was the Yan Huan he loved.

He loved her so much that he wished they could stay together forever.

“Actor Wenlan, what are you spacing out for? Your scene is next.”

Wen Wenlan snapped back to reality.

“Okay, I’m coming.”

Yang Huanyang muttered in confusion, scratching his head as he left.

“What are you thinking about?”

Yang Huanyang scratched his head. “Nothing, I just feel like Actor Wenlan really likes Fang Yan Huan.”

Chen Tianming checked the equipment. “People can be clear-headed in any place, at any time, except when it comes to love. They can’t see through it, can’t see through it.”

Especially for someone like Wen Wenlan, who had smooth sailing his entire life, love was an even greater blind spot.

“Director Chen, when did you become so knowledgeable?”

Chen Tianming clapped him on the shoulder, his brows raised with pride. “Stop the nonsense. If I weren’t knowledgeable, how could I have become a director and produced so many popular works?”

Yang Huanyang: “……”

He didn’t see the knowledge, but he certainly saw the narcissism.

Chen Tianming coughed a few times. “Are Wenlan and Miaomiao here yet? We need to rehearse the scene.”

“Coming, coming.”

Wen Wenlan also walked over. “Director Chen.”

“Yes. How’s your understanding of the character?”

Wen Wenlan nodded and shook his head.

“What?”

“My understanding is mostly there.”

However, he was struggling to grasp the male lead’s feelings for Chen Yao.

“When I get into character, I feel like he likes Chen Yao,” Wen Wenlan said, explaining his understanding of the role. “But his demeanor, his expressions, are constantly telling himself that he is only using Chen Yao and has never liked her.”

Chen Tianming smiled. “This character is difficult to fully grasp, isn’t he?”

Wen Wenlan nodded, a wry smile on his face. “Director Chen, I never understood why the actors you’ve worked with before said that working with you was both painful and joyous.”

Only now did he realize that Director Chen never told actors his own understanding of the characters. What he wanted was for the actors to ponder and understand their roles themselves, then portray the characters as they envisioned them.

Unless an actor’s understanding of the role was significantly flawed, Director Chen might offer some guidance.

“Director Chen.”

Chen Tianming smiled meaningfully. “She is no longer my concern.”

He had already given his advice. If Fang Yan Huan insisted on playing Ruo Lan according to her own ideas, what could he do?

He was helpless. He had said all he could. If she wouldn’t change, and he wasn’t Fang Yan Huan’s parents, he had done his best.

“I… I’m sorry.” Wen Wenlan looked at Chen Tianming with a hint of apology in his eyes.

“Ponder it carefully. Follow your own feelings and your understanding of the script,” Chen Tianming said, patting Wen Wenlan’s shoulder like an elder. “From the start of filming until now, your understanding of the male lead is second only to Fang Miaomiao’s.”

Upon hearing Fang Miaomiao’s name, Wen Wenlan’s expression grew more complicated. “Thank you, Director Chen. I will work hard.”

He didn’t know what was happening to him now. On one hand, he wanted to stand up for Yan Huan, whom he liked, but on the other hand, he felt that what Director Chen said was also correct. His acting skills in this drama were improving at a visible rate.

He was truly confused.

“Ahem.” Chen Tianming’s gaze fell on Fang Miaomiao. Seeing her nod at him, he clapped his hands. “Alright, let’s start the next scene.”

The next scene.

Fang Miaomiao and Wen Wenlan’s scene together.

Fang Yan Huan stood outside the set, her gaze subtly fixed on the scene within.

Watching the two perform fight choreography on the wires, she felt as if a hand was clutching her heart, making it impossible to breathe.

Her gaze was fixed on Wen Wenlan.

“Are you alright?” Cui Mantong’s peripheral vision caught her pale face, and she asked with concern, “Did you get heatstroke? Why is your face so pale? Where’s your assistant?”

Fang Yan Huan heard the voice, turned her head, and saw Cui Mantong looking at her with concern. She asked in surprise, “Are you… talking to me?”

“Who else?” Cui Mantong asked, confused. “Where’s your assistant? Do you want some Huoxiang Zhengqi water? It’s really hot here in the desert during the day. You shouldn’t get heatstroke.”

Even though she didn’t particularly like Fang Yan Huan, it didn’t mean she wouldn’t help in an emergency.

Fang Yan Huan forced a smile. “I’m fine, thank you for your concern.”

Seeing that her eyes were bright, Cui Mantong breathed a sigh of relief. “If you feel dizzy, you must say something. Director Chen isn’t stingy.”

“Okay.”

Before Fang Yan Huan could finish speaking, a scream erupted from inside the set.

Immediately, everyone around rushed over.

“What happened? Doctor, where’s the doctor?”

“Are you… alright?” Wen Wenlan asked with a grim expression.

“Stop the nonsense.” Fang Miaomiao said through gritted teeth, “If you don’t get off me, I’m going to be crushed by you.”

Wen Wenlan’s face turned somewhat pale.

He wanted to get off Fang Miaomiao, but his leg seemed to have been sprained just now, and he couldn’t stand up.
