As she was thinking, a waiter carrying a tray walked quickly towards her.
Fang Miaomiao quickly noticed this anomaly and looked up at the second floor.
As expected, Li Zong and Wang Jiahui were standing on the second floor.
Wang Jiahui, in an even better mood, raised his wine glass towards her.
Deep down, Fang Miaomiao rolled her eyes countless times, let out a cold laugh, and then moved normally, dodging the waiter.
The waiter, unable to stop, tumbled to the ground, landing sprawled on his back.
"What's going on?"
"Why is this waiter so clumsy, with no etiquette at all."
Wang Jiahui on the second floor frowned. What was going on with this waiter? She couldn't even handle a small task properly. October Hotel was indeed petty, not even training its waiters well.
The waiter endured the pain, looked up, and saw the displeased gazes from the second floor. He quickly made a decision, looked at Fang Miaomiao with red-rimmed eyes, and said, "Why did you push me?"
"Fang Miaomiao pushed him?"
"I don't know. I only turned around when I heard the sound of a falling glass. When I turned, I saw the waiter on the ground, and then she said Fang Miaomiao pushed her."
"I pushed you?" Fang Miaomiao raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
"If you hadn't tripped me, why would I have fallen to the ground? Are you saying I'm wronging you, that I deliberately fell to frame you?" The waiter trembled, but defiantly raised his head to look at Fang Miaomiao.
The waiter was already good-looking, and combined with her pitiful appearance, public opinion quickly tilted in her favor.
"Who is this person? She's too much. The waiter didn't offend her, yet she's bullying her like this. She's truly disgracing us upper-class individuals."
"Fang Miaomiao, you don't know? The wife who married into the Wen family some time ago, working in the entertainment industry. But I heard her character isn't very good, always relying on her status to bully those artists."
"Whoa, that's juicy! I never knew. But looking at her, she does seem quite arrogant and domineering. At a high-class banquet, she's not even wearing a formal gown. I was wondering who wasn't wearing a gown earlier, and it turns out to be her."
"I don't know why you're doing this to me, but I hope you can apologize to me." The waiter, seeing that the onlookers were on her side, felt relieved and her eyes gained a hint of smugness.
She had already ruined the task that person had assigned her, and she might face consequences later. Instead of being in constant fear, she might as well take this opportunity to gain some benefits for herself.
This banquet was attended by the wealthy and famous. If she could just be a little special, she might catch the eye of some rich man.
At that point, not to reach the pinnacle of life, but to live a good life and get some money would be excellent.
With this thought, the waiter's resolve strengthened.
"You can't just act like this towards ordinary people just because you're a celebrity. I demand that you apologize to me."
"Heh, an apology is out of the question."
"No, Fang Miaomiao, do you really think everyone in the world has to indulge you? You're not even officially acknowledged by the Wen family, what are you being so pretentious about?"
A woman in an expensive long dress said indignantly.
Her gaze was fixed on Fang Miaomiao, as if she could bore a hole through her face.
"Exactly, exactly. A fake daughter kicked out by the Fang family, who knows what means she used to latch onto the Wen family. Even if she latched on, she shamelessly flaunts it everywhere. If I were someone, I'd want to stay home every day to avoid causing embarrassment."
"She's not out to cause embarrassment. After all, the Wen family isn't stupid, how could they keep such a malicious woman?" Another sarcastic voice came from the crowd. "If she doesn't come out to work, what will she eat? Right everyone?"
"Have you said enough?"
Fang Miaomiao's voice was soft, but it was enough to silence the onlookers.
"You say I tripped you. What evidence do you have?"
"I..." The waiter looked at those clear, somewhat cold eyes, her mouth opened and closed, but she couldn't utter a word.
"No, spit it out."
Seeing that the waiter was hesitant to speak, the surrounding people urged her on.
"I... I was carrying something and didn't see clearly."
Fang Miaomiao sneered, "Miss, I wasn't the only one in this aisle. If I remember correctly, the lady in the blue qipao was closer to you."
The woman in the blue qipao was the one who had previously shouted that Fang Miaomiao wouldn't eat if she didn't work.
Seeing that the accusation was directed at her, the qipao-clad woman quickly stepped back, dissociating herself from the suspicion, and even glanced disdainfully at the waiter on the ground. "Was I so bored that I'd push a little waiter like her?"
"Besides, wearing a qipao, how could I make such an ungraceful move as sticking out my foot to trip someone?" The woman in the qipao rolled her eyes. "I'm not stupid."
"Then you mean, I am stupid for bothering a waiter I don't even know?"
"Of course not," the qipao lady replied without thinking. "Unless you're stupid."
Only a fool would bother someone in broad daylight.
After answering, she realized it was Fang Miaomiao speaking: "You're tricking me."
"It's not a trick, it's the truth," Fang Miaomiao smiled slightly. "I don't know this waiter, and I have no animosity towards her. Why would I trip her? What would I gain from it? To have her fall to the ground and falsely accuse me?"
"Moreover, the entire floor is covered with carpet. Miss, how much pain would you have to be in to be sitting on the ground and refusing to get up?"
As soon as she spoke, the guests began to murmur.
"That's right, it's all carpeted here, how painful would it be to fall."
"How painful could it be? The wine glass didn't even break."
"So, what does this waiter want?"
"Heh, isn't it obvious? She must have made a mistake and is afraid of being punished by the hotel, so to protect herself, she's clinging to someone."
"You, how can you say that?"
Seeing that public opinion was no longer in her favor, the waiter became flustered.
"I'm not asking you to do anything difficult, just to apologize. Is that so hard?"
Fang Miaomiao's lips curved upwards, an idea forming in her mind.
"You're still saying I tripped you?"
"It was you," the waiter stated firmly.
"Alright, you're quite insistent."
If the timing were different, Fang Miaomiao would have applauded this waiter: "In that case, let's call the police."
Calling the police was the best solution.
It would not only resolve the waiter's slander against her but also directly deal with Wang Jiahui and that Mr. Li.
In the long run, it might even resolve the October Hotel's reputation crisis.
Indeed, no matter where or when, calling the police was the best course of action.
