Snail Senior Brother

Chapter 380 Recollection Arc: A Lone Boat (Part 2)

In the eyes of others, Ye Qingcheng had always been a gentle and watery woman. She possessed the delicate charm unique to Southern women, with a sweet voice. But no one, except Li Jiu, knew how many violent genes lay hidden within her petite frame. For Li Jiu, she transformed into a demon, killing anyone she encountered. She was an excellent actress, but on this deserted island, acting was the most useless skill; everyone besides Li Jiu was an enemy.

By the time she had knocked the last person to the ground, it was already dusk. Ye Qingcheng bore many wounds. Even an ordinary person would fight back fiercely when on the verge of death. Ye Qingcheng did not underestimate anyone's strength, nor did she intend to spare any of them, so she, too, was fighting for her life.

The setting sun, like blood, shone on her face. She pulled the knife from the dead man's body, then wiped the blood from her hands on his clothing. Afterward, she tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.

Then, Ye Qingcheng stood up, surveying her surroundings. She couldn't distinguish between the blood and the sunset. At this moment, a faint voice drifted from the distance: "Wh-why did you kill us?"

Hearing the voice, Ye Qingcheng stumbled forward and cruelly delivered two more blows to the severely wounded person. Afterward, completely devoid of strength, she knelt beside the body, her head bowed, letting the sunset shine on her face.

"Teacher Li Jiu hasn't eaten yet."

This thought gave Ye Qingcheng the strength to stand. She returned to the makeshift camp these people had established, found food and a backpack, and slung it over her shoulder. Her eyes were vacant and unfocused as she staggered forward. After only a few steps, she collapsed like a boneless shrimp. She looked up at the darkening sky and mumbled, "Teacher Li Jiu has a fever, he needs medicine."

So, Ye Qingcheng stood up again. She didn't recognize the medicines or know what they were for. She simply packed them into her backpack, then hoisted two large bags. She would take a few steps, stumble, take a few more steps, and fall again.

After an unknown amount of time, Ye Qingcheng's consciousness finally cleared somewhat. She saw a bonfire and Teacher Li Jiu beside it.

"Are you alright?"

"I took the medicine you brought back."

"Really? That's wonderful!"

Ye Qingcheng didn't remember how she got back. Her head throbbed excruciatingly. She sat up and examined her body; many parts had already been bandaged. Now, Ye Qingcheng was so weak she could die at any moment, yet she smiled radiantly at Li Jiu by the bonfire. Over the years, no matter how hard she tried, she had drifted further and further away from Li Jiu.

But now, Teacher Li Jiu had cooked for her with his own hands.

Alas, perhaps in the next life!
