Chapter 43 Tan Zheng, You Just Don't Believe Me

Chapter 43 Tan Zheng, You Just Don't Believe Me

Her clothes were completely soaked by the rain. Song Ni suddenly began to shiver, unsure if it was from the cold or from Tan Zheng’s words. In the rainy night, the man's tall and broad back shielded her from the wind and rain, like a guardian angel. Her teeth chattered uncontrollably, knocking against each other.

The man didn't agree to Tan Zheng's proposal. Instead, Huan Yuan stepped forward. "If it's possible, I'd like to try with you." He was wearing a white shirt and gray pants, looking very well-behaved. Standing in the rain, his bangs were wet and almost covered his eyes. He looked at Tan Zheng, quietly.

Hearing this, Tan Zheng glanced over, narrowing his eyes. He recognized this person. He had entered the racing world at 18 and won several championships in his four-year professional career.

"Alright." As he spoke, Tan Zheng glanced at the person who had just been so arrogant. All talk and no action, they would never achieve anything great.

Tan Zheng pulled Song Ni under the eaves, frowning at her soaked clothes. He reached out and patted her head. "Go inside and change."

Song Ni looked at him, stubbornly shaking her head. Tan Zheng's gaze darkened slightly, but he didn't try to persuade her further. He walked back into the rain.

There was no shortage of space or cars here. The duel between the two was about to begin.

Qin Yang walked up to Song Ni and took off his jacket, draping it over her shoulders. "Ni Ni, you were too reckless just now."

Song Ni's lips trembled, but she didn't reply. Was she too reckless? Was that why Tan Zheng yelled at her?

Tan Zheng still got into the car he had driven in the afternoon. Everyone else moved their cars to make space for the two. The road wasn't very long; the distance between the two cars was only about two hundred meters. The roar of the engines in the rainy night was like the cry of a lurking leopard before it pounced.

Song Ni blinked, trying to focus on Tan Zheng, but all she could hear was her own pounding heart. Ding Jing took a flag and stood in the middle. In the glare of the two car headlights, Huan Yuan's figure was crystal clear. Song Ni saw the flag wave down, and the two cars shot forward.

The sound of the accelerator pressed to the floor ripped through the dark night sky. These short ten-odd seconds brought an extreme visual thrill. Seeing the two cars about to collide, Song Ni clenched her fists, her gaze fixed on Tan Zheng's car. In an instant, the two cars passed each other, and the screech of brakes echoed. It was Huan Yuan who dodged first.

Lu Fang walked up to Song Ni as if he had expected this outcome. He draped his own jacket over her. "Playing with your life, Brother Tan has never lost."

Song Ni let out a long sigh, her body relaxing. The pain in her stomach, however, could not be ignored. She didn't understand what Lu Fang meant by suddenly coming over and saying that to her.

Lu Fang curved his lips and leisurely explained, "Brother Tan has played all sorts of games like this before. To Brother Tan, they are all small, insignificant games."

Song Ni's eyelashes trembled slightly. She looked up at Lu Fang, signaling him to continue. "Brother Tan holds his own life in his hands, but, Sister-in-law, he can't gamble with yours."

Song Ni understood. Lu Fang was explaining for Tan Zheng. "You don't believe me either?"

Lu Fang shook his head. "It's not that we don't believe you, Sister-in-law."

"Then what's the reason?"

Lu Fang didn't say anything more, because Tan Zheng had already walked over. He exuded a wild aura. Such dangerous games were like everyday occurrences for him. He was arrogant, and he had the capital to control his own life.

He walked up to Song Ni and, without a word, pulled her into the house. It was clear he intended to settle the score later.

Song Ni didn't resist and followed him inside. However, Tan Zheng's strides were too large, and she stumbled several times, having to jog to keep up. Tan Zheng pulled her into a lounge, released her hand, and put his hands on his hips. He said in a low voice, "Song Ni, do you know what you were doing just now?"

Song Ni pursed her lips. Her stomach hurt terribly. She asked the question that Lu Fang hadn't been able to answer. "Is this a matter of believing you or not? Song Ni, you were playing with your life."

A surge of anger rose in Tan Zheng's heart. He hadn't paid any attention to what those people had said.

Song Ni bit her lip tightly and continued to ask, "Do you believe me?"

A lump formed in Tan Zheng's throat. He looked at Song Ni, feeling stuck. He was exasperated. This person was as stubborn as a mule. Song Ni stood there, staring at Tan Zheng motionlessly, determined to get an answer. Her eyes, washed by the rain, were dark, wet, and bright, like torches, seeing into the deepest part of a person's heart.

Tan Zheng pressed his tongue against his cheek and tapped his forehead with his fingers. "Do you have to get to the bottom of this?"

Song Ni remained silent, clearly wanting an answer. "I don't believe you." What could he believe in? Her amateur driving skills, or her reckless courage?

Song Ni blinked. She had already known this answer, but hearing it still made her feel a pang of sadness. She had dared to say it because she was confident.

Silence spread through the lounge. Tan Zheng looked at Song Ni's pale little face, his brows furrowed. He strode out and returned a moment later with a towel. He stood before Song Ni, placed the towel on her head, and began to dry her soaked hair. This time, he was careful and didn't touch Song Ni's forehead, but his movements were still stiff.

Tan Zheng wanted to say something about Song Ni's recklessness, but her downcast, silent appearance kept flashing in his mind, making it impossible for him to speak. Even a stubborn mule could be pitiable.

Finally, Song Ni broke the silence. "I'm very good at physics."

Tan Zheng's hands paused. He lowered his head to look at her. Song Ni looked up, staring at the man. "Your car can reach a speed of 315 kilometers per hour when the accelerator is fully pressed. The road is about 500 meters long. Including the acceleration time from a standstill, it's very simple to calculate the braking time."

Tan Zheng took down the towel. Song Ni curled her lips, but there was no smile in her eyes. "So I had the confidence, and I wasn't just playing with my life. I cherish my own life. Tan Zheng, you simply don't believe me." If he believed her, he would have known she wasn't being frivolous. If he believed her, he wouldn't have yelled at her.

Song Ni took a step back and shrugged. "Then consider me meddling." She had been out of her mind to want to help Tan Zheng vent his anger.

After speaking, Song Ni turned to leave, but the dull ache in her stomach made her sway. Tan Zheng immediately stepped forward to support her, his brows knitted as he stared at Song Ni's extremely pale face. "What's wrong?" Her condition was clearly not just from getting rained on.

Song Ni's lips trembled, and she instinctively clutched her stomach. After being exposed to the cool autumn rain, her period had arrived early, and the pain in her stomach was more severe than ever. Tan Zheng noticed her movement, his eyes flickered, and he bent down to pick her up.
