Chapter 64 Soothing an Angry Man with a Fumbling Kiss
Tan Zheng’s face was ashen, the lines of his jaw tight. Song Ni could even see the muscles in his face bulge as he clenched his teeth.
With a thud, Song Ni’s heart skipped a beat. It was over. She had truly gotten into trouble this time. She had completely infuriated Tan Zheng.
The man’s breathing was heavy, his voice hoarse and low. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Song Ni!"
He was powerfully built, and his strength was immense. There was no way the woman could escape his grip. And now, he was enraged again.
Tan Zheng let out a laugh, as if he had emerged from hell. He didn't tear Song Ni's clothes apart. Instead, he began to move his hands over her body through the fabric.
The material of the nightgown was already thin and sheer. Song Ni could clearly feel the man's scorching palm, and her body trembled uncontrollably. She should have thought of a way, but the man’s fiery heat made it impossible for her to think.
Tan Zheng showed no mercy. The strength in his hands was considerable. He landed on a spot he had touched yesterday and pinched it hard. His voice sounded like a damaged window in a stormy night. "Do I dare?"
Song Ni remained silent. "Remember this well, I am your man!"
Song Ni winced in pain, her brows furrowed. "Behave yourself, or you'll be the one suffering."
Song Ni was forced to lift her chin. The man's hand had already slipped under her dress. She had to stop this.
Song Ni panted, staring into Tan Zheng's deep eyes, her nose touching his. His breath was strong and domineering. With every exhale, it felt like he was invading her brain with his very breath. She dared not move recklessly.
Tan Zheng was clearly willing to do anything now. He was fierce and ruthless, like a flood dragon weathering a tribulation amidst thunder and lightning. In the past, he had indulged her, allowing her petty squabbles and childish games, happy to play along and watch her act out. But she had gone too far, attempting to climb over him, to conquer him, to dominate him.
He was right; he wasn't a good person. A proud, unyielding prodigy was meant to control others, so how could he be a good person?
Tan Zheng lowered his head and kissed and bit the spot on her neck where he had left marks the night before. His voice was dark and gloomy. "I've already indulged you enough." He didn't want to spoil her, but every time, he had taken a step back and indulged her. She wanted him to teach her archery, and he taught her. She wanted milk to soothe her anger, and he soothed her. She wanted to show off her skills as a school bully, and he sparred with her. She wanted to strip his clothes, and he let her take liberties. She wanted to sit in the passenger seat of his race car, and he broke his own rule to let her. She acted mischievously in front of his friends, and he played along. She didn't blow-dry her hair after showering, and he relented and took care of it. He even rushed to save her as soon as he landed, and when he saw she was injured and had a cold, he stayed to look after her. It was all because he had agreed to this arranged marriage and felt he owed the young girl something. It was also because she had risked her life for him that night, and he had indeed been touched. But she had become too presumptuous. She had called him a pervert, kicked him out of bed, and now claimed he wasn't her man. How could this little girl be so wicked, so disobedient?
Song Ni trembled all over. She deeply felt Tan Zheng's anger. If this continued, she would truly be "rectified" on the spot. As the man's hand moved lower, Song Ni mustered all her strength, placed her hands on his neck, and kissed him. For the first time in twenty-four years, she yielded. "I was wrong." It was wise to know when to yield. She had indeed provoked him too much this time. How could a man like Tan Zheng tolerate being kicked out of bed? He was strong and overbearing. She had agreed to the marriage herself and considered herself his future Mrs. Tan. With such freedom, how could he tolerate the words she had spoken? That's right, the moment she slipped the ring on, in Tan Zheng's mind, he was her man.
Song Ni's eyelashes fluttered. Using her unskilled kissing technique, she tried to appease the angry man. She was too smart; she knew her advantage. Her peach blossom eyes, at some point, had become moist.
A fumbling kiss, amorous eyes, hands cautiously placed on him, a pitiful demeanor. She applied all her skills in feigning innocence at this moment. It worked. Tan Zheng had always been unable to ignore those eyes of Song Ni. The strength in his hands lessened, and his kiss was no longer as fierce.
Song Ni secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Her hand reached behind the man, intending to completely calm his anger by stroking him. But to her surprise, the man simply relaxed and slumped down. He lay still.
"..."
Song Ni turned her head to look at the man with his eyes closed, unsure of the situation. "Tan Zheng?"
The man didn't respond. Song Ni hesitated and nudged the person on top of her. It was then she realized with a shock that Tan Zheng's body temperature was shockingly high. She quickly raised her hand and placed it on his forehead. Now she was sure. Tan Zheng had a fever. No wonder he was so moody this morning and so easily angered by her. Song Ni found it almost funny. She had recovered from her cold by sleeping, so why was Tan Zheng burning up like this? However, this eased Song Ni's mind considerably. If Tan Zheng was sick, he couldn't do anything to her. Just now... she had truly thought that Tan Zheng was going to take action and become her real man.
After considerable effort, Song Ni managed to crawl out from under Tan Zheng. She stood with her hands on her hips, breathing heavily, and looked down at the man lying on the floor. So arrogant and domineering, and then he fainted.
"You damn man," she muttered. Though she cursed, Song Ni didn't have the heart to leave Tan Zheng on the floor. She couldn't move such a large, unconscious man by herself. She found some rolling equipment from the gym and, using leverage, worked for a long time before she could move him onto the carpet. Then she found a blanket and covered him.
She mumbled, "If it weren't for you saving me yesterday, I wouldn't be so kind." But Song Ni's kindness didn't stop there. She also found cold water and towels, placing them on Tan Zheng's forehead to help him cool down. "With such a high fever, don't let your brain burn out."
After changing the water, she placed the towel back on his forehead. "If you burn yourself into an idiot, I won't be your wife. I'll kick you to the curb."
Once Tan Zheng's forehead temperature was no longer so high, Song Ni began to change the dressing on her own wounds. "I'm still injured and have to take care of you. What do I owe you?" Song Ni muttered, naturally not noticing the slightest movement on the brow of the man who was asleep.
Feeling lazy, Song Ni simply sat down on the carpet and called the housekeeping lady to clean up the mess from last night and prepare lunch. The injuries on her hands and feet weren't serious, but the injury on her face was. She had to get her marriage certificate in a couple of days, and she couldn't show up with a swollen half-face. So Song Ni went downstairs to get some ice, wrapped it in a silk scarf, and applied it to her face, sitting next to Tan Zheng and continuing to familiarize herself with the script.
When her hands became too cold from the ice, Song Ni frowned and turned her attention to the sleeping Tan Zheng beside her.
Regarding the extra chapters: I am a graduate student, and I am currently busy with my supervisor's project proposal and thesis pre-defense preparations. I indeed have a lot on my plate. The current manuscript is based on the 100,000 words I had saved before starting the book. Maintaining a daily update of two chapters is already my limit. Once I am done with the pre-defense, I may have more time, and I will decide whether to add more chapters based on my saved manuscript. If any readers feel that two chapters a day is too few, you can consider saving them up for a while before reading.
I apologize that I cannot update many chapters daily, which may affect your reading experience.
Finally, I still want to say that I will do my best. I am treating this book very, very seriously. Song Ni is the first type of female protagonist I have ever created, and I also really like Brother Tan's personality. Perhaps many parts are still unpolished, but I will do my best to write the story that is in my heart. Thank you, everyone! I hope you will continue to support me!
