Chapter 140 Little Ancestor, You Blocked Me

Chapter 140 Little Ancestor, You Blocked Me

Until Tan Zheng walked up to her, and Song Ni caught his familiar scent, she felt like she wasn't dreaming, that there was some substance to reality. The man, who she had been inwardly cursing just moments ago and who should have been in Xingcheng, now stood before her. Song Ni's nose twitched, and she wanted to speak, but her throat felt blocked.

"What, haven't seen me for a few days and you don't recognize me anymore?" His familiar tone, his familiar voice, made Song Ni feel even more acutely that Tan Zheng had truly come to her side, on her birthday. He was wearing a black sweater tonight, a windbreaker jacket, his neck bare, revealing his sexy Adam's apple and sharp, handsome jawline.

Song Ni remained seated, looking up at the man before her, and foolishly asked, "Why are you here?"

Tan Zheng let out a soft hum, his eyes lowered, looking at Song Ni as if to accuse her. "Wifey blocked me, so I had no choice but to come over."

Song Ni blinked, trying to deflect the issue. "You're discharged from the hospital?"

Tan Zheng narrowed his eyes slightly, staring at Song Ni for a long time. He suddenly reached out and pinched her cheek. She had indeed lost a lot of weight. How could she have lost so much weight in just over ten days since he'd left? His hand moved down, cupping Song Ni's chin. "Song Ni, you're quite capable. You're the first person who dared to block me." To have blocked him for so long was one thing, but to block him twice!

Song Ni disliked this posture and turned her face away, breaking free from his hand. "So what are you doing now? Here to settle the score?"

Tan Zheng found Song Ni's words irritating. This little girl clearly knew why he had come but insisted on being stubborn. He hooked a chair with his leg, sat down, and glanced at the items on the table: hot pot skewers, a bowl of longevity noodles. It seemed as though he was saying she was doing just fine on her own. Only he had been working overtime until late every night, thinking about this ungrateful little girl. After being discharged from the hospital and handling some work, he had rushed over immediately, waiting at the hotel for a long time, only to find out she had gone out with Tang Qinyun. He thought she would return before one o'clock, but after waiting for another two hours and still seeing no sign of her by two, he learned she had come to this small stall. Unable to wait any longer, he rushed over. Seeing the little girl sitting there all alone, he felt a pang of pity, but the words that came out of his mouth were so unpleasant?

Tan Zheng reached for a skewer. Before he could act, Song Ni frowned and slapped his hand. "You just got out of the hospital and you're eating this? Do you want to go back to the hospital?"

The man turned his head and saw Song Ni's furrowed brow and serious expression. He suddenly smiled meaningfully and placed the skewer into Song Ni's bowl. "I don't have a bowl, how can I eat?"

Song Ni: ...

"Caring about me?"

Song Ni: ...

"Oh, I see. This is what they call 'worry leads to foolishness'." Song Ni fiercely scraped the meat off the skewer. None of the things she had ordered were light. She picked up a piece and shoved it into Tan Zheng's mouth. "Just shut up."

The man tutted, placing his hands on the table and tapping them rhythmically. Song Ni looked up at the sound and noticed that the veins on the back of his hand seemed even more prominent. Her expression shifted, and Song Ni reached out. "Your hand."

Tan Zheng glanced at her, not understanding her meaning. Song Ni simply reached out and took his hand. After touching it several times, Song Ni confirmed that she hadn't seen wrong. Tan Zheng had lost weight. It seemed he had lost quite a bit of weight during his few days in the hospital.

Tan Zheng, however, didn't understand Song Ni's intention, thinking she was being playful with his hand, as she often did when they were together. Sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously. He had never understood what was so special about his hand, but if Song Ni liked it, then she could touch it. When Song Ni stopped her actions, Tan Zheng raised an eyebrow. "Finished touching?"

Song Ni's expression was serious and solemn as she examined Tan Zheng meticulously. It wasn't just his hands; his face had thinned too, his features more defined and sharper. There were faint dark circles under his eyes, betraying his exhaustion. She had heard from Su Qing that he had been discharged that afternoon, so he must have gone to the company to handle some business before rushing over? But his hair was clearly styled, and his clothes were neat. Despite being so tired, he had tidied himself up to see her.

Seeing Song Ni staring at him without speaking, Tan Zheng's smile gradually faded, thinking she was still angry. He took her hand in his. "What's wrong? Still angry? It was my fault that night. I didn't mean it like that, I was just worried about you. If you don't like the bodyguards..." He paused, his brow furrowing. "I'll have them stay further away from you. Your safety is the most important thing, okay?"

Seeing Song Ni's lack of reaction, Tan Zheng squeezed her hand again. This little girl was really quite difficult to deal with when she was truly angry. For so many days without contact, he could only hear about her daily life from Zhou Jin. He had never experienced this before, but with Song Ni, he had learned a lot. Bickering, arguing, being blocked, and yet being unable to stop thinking about her. This little girl possessed a magic that made him addicted to her. He wanted to see her cunning eyes, her playful mischief, her act of pretending to be good, her occasional teasing flirtatiousness. He wanted to see Song Ni in all her myriad forms.

It was likely this look of doting and this tone that finally broke Song Ni down. Her nose twitched, and Song Ni suddenly regretted her petulance a few days ago. He had been alone in the hospital, busy with company matters, so pitiful. And yet, she had blocked him and refused to speak to him.

"You've lost weight."

Song Ni's sudden remark surprised Tan Zheng. Amidst the surprise, there was joy. He squeezed Song Ni's hand, drew closer, and asked in a low voice, "Are you worried about me?"

Song Ni remained silent, but her beautiful peach blossom eyes spoke volumes. Without needing to say more, Tan Zheng understood her meaning. He moved closer again and asked, "Did you miss me?"

Song Ni's eyelashes fluttered, her nose prickled with emotion, and she couldn't speak. She was afraid that the moment she opened her mouth, she would burst into tears. It was strange; she was someone who rarely cried, and this little thing was hardly worth crying over. But when Tan Zheng, who had rushed over all night, leaned close and asked in a low voice, the urge to cry was overwhelming. More than missed, she had missed him to the point of madness. Knowing he was in the hospital, along with her longing, came a wave of worry. During those few days, she called Su Qing whenever she had free time.

Receiving no answer from Song Ni, the man didn't rush. He reached out and cupped her face, then lowered his head and kissed her lips firmly yet with restraint. "I missed you so much."

Song Ni finally broke down, and with a barely perceptible whimper, she complained, reaching out to punch Tan Zheng's chest. "Then why didn't you call me?"

Tan Zheng was stunned, his eyes filled with helplessness. "Little ancestor, you blocked me."

"Then why didn't you get a different phone to call me?"

Tan Zheng: ...

It seemed to make sense.

"If you had called with a different phone, I wouldn't have blocked you?"

Song Ni huffed arrogantly. "I would have blocked you anyway."

Tan Zheng: ...

"Then you should have bought a few more numbers and called them one by one. I might have been too lazy to block them all."

The man's expression shifted. So, there was such a way. "Yes, I was stupid. I didn't think of that. Are you not angry anymore?"

Song Ni suddenly leaned forward and fiercely bit his lip. After biting, she licked it like a little cat. "Not angry anymore." He hadn't been angry for a long time. How could this little ancestor be so cute when she was angry!
