Liu Yilin and Fang Qing nodded and followed Ning Beichen closely through the restaurant kitchen and out the back door.
The back door, however, had been locked with a padlock and chain at some point. Ning Beichen stepped forward, gripped the padlock, and pulled it outwards with force. With a bang, Ning Beichen ripped the padlock off the chain and easily opened the iron gate, exiting through the kitchen's back door with Liu Yilin and Fang Qing.
"Ning Beichen, who was that person just now? Why did you get into a fight with him?" Liu Yilin asked immediately after they were out.
"I don't know. He was a ascetic monk, possibly from a place like India. I was washing my hands in the restroom when he suddenly attacked me. He must have had a specific target," Ning Beichen replied simply.
"A monk? So he's a Buddhist monk, but I saw he wasn't bald!" Fang Qing, who was clueless, interjected.
"An ascetic monk is an ascetic monk; it has nothing to do with being a Buddhist monk. They don't believe in Buddhism. They belong to a school of asceticism that practices hardship. To put it simply, they are a bunch of perverts who enjoy tormenting themselves. To put it more elegantly, they seek spiritual emptiness," Ning Beichen explained, also educating her on what an ascetic monk was.
"Then why did he want to kill you? Did you offend him?" Fang Qing asked curiously after hearing that.
"How would I know why he wanted to kill me? I've never even seen him before. Ascetic monks like that basically never leave their place of practice. It's hard to offend them," Ning Beichen replied irritably. Although he suspected the ascetic monk's attempt to kill him was likely related to the Holy See, he didn't want to explain these things to the two of them, as it would be useless even if they knew.
"You must have offended too many people in the past, that's why he came to kill you," Fang Qing muttered.
"Fang Qing, don't speak carelessly if you don't know. Ning Beichen isn't someone who goes around causing trouble," Liu Yilin defended him before Ning Beichen could even retort.
"Who knows? Anyway, this guy isn't a good person. If he were, he wouldn't have done that to you..." Fang Qing muttered somewhat unconvinced, suddenly realizing something was off. Why was the rich Ms. Liu defending him?
"Alright, stop talking. That ascetic monk didn't die. Boss, I'll take you home first," Ning Beichen said. Liu Yilin nodded. She had also seen the ascetic monk escape and was still a bit scared.
"I'm going too. At this time, I need to be by Yilin's side," Fang Qing, for reasons unknown, insisted on going back with them. Liu Yilin didn't refuse her, so Ning Beichen had nothing to say. After getting the car, he drove them both back.
However, Ning Beichen was uneasy about the ascetic monk and made a phone call, asking his men to find him. But there had been no news of the ascetic monk until now. Ning Beichen had already taken them both home and asked Feng Wu to strengthen the perimeter.
For some reason, the fleeing ascetic monk gave Ning Beichen an indescribable sense of crisis. Although there was no evidence, he felt that the guy wouldn't die so easily. Even though Ning Beichen had severely injured the ascetic monk, shattering half of his heart, Ning Beichen felt that the guy wouldn't die that easily.
Meanwhile, in the upstairs room, the two women were chatting.
"Rich Ms. Liu, I plan to seduce Ning Beichen, make him fall in love with me, and then dump him to break his heart. What do you think of my plan to get revenge for you?" Fang Qing said excitedly.
"Not great. Fang Qing, I beg you not to cause any more trouble," Liu Yilin said, rolling her eyes at her.
"Rich Ms. Liu, you're acting strange. You weren't like this before. You used to wish you could tear Ning Beichen apart. Did Ning Beichen put a spell on you, making you help him with everything? I'll find a master to check for you tomorrow," Fang Qing said, holding Liu Yilin's shoulders and looking into her eyes.
"You're crazy! You're the one acting strange. I'm tired, I'm going to sleep," Liu Yilin said, avoiding her gaze with a guilty conscience and then scurrying under the covers. Soon, Fang Qing also dived under the covers, embracing Liu Yilin like an octopus, rubbing against her and saying with a smile, "Rich Ms. Liu, your breasts have gotten bigger again. I remember they were a C before, now they're D, right?"
"Fang Qing, you female pervert," Liu Yilin quickly wriggled free from her octopus-like embrace.
"Tch! What's the big deal? You touched mine before too," Fang Qing said nonchalantly, continuing to tussle and play with her in bed.
"Rich Ms. Liu, your figure is getting better and better. You seem more plump than before. If I were a man, I would be head over heels in love with you," Fang Qing said with envy after feeling Liu Yilin's figure.
"Get your devil claws off me, you female fiend," Liu Yilin said, grabbing her hand, half-laughing, half-crying. However, this kind of game between best friends was something they often played before, and it was nothing special.
"Rich Ms. Liu, I'm serious. I really plan to seduce Ning Beichen, make him fall in love with me, and make him kneel at my pomegranate skirt," Fang Qing said.
"Fang Qing, don't mess around. Ning Beichen isn't as shallow as you think," Liu Yilin said anxiously, unsure if she was worried about Fang Qing or Ning Beichen.
"What are you worried about? My charm is irresistible. I don't believe Ning Beichen is an Iron Man who won't take the bait, unless he likes men," Fang Qing said confidently.
"Fang Qing, don't play with fire. Ning Beichen is different from the men you think," Liu Yilin really wanted to stop her but couldn't find a suitable reason.
"Alright, alright, I know you're worried about me. Don't worry, there's no man in this world that I can't handle. Just wait and see, I'll soon have Ning Beichen kneeling at my pomegranate skirt, and then you can get revenge however you want," Fang Qing said confidently. No matter how much Liu Yilin advised her, it was no use.
At this moment, Feng Wu was monitoring the situation outside through the window. Suddenly, she sensed something. She turned around abruptly and saw a person dressed in coarse cloth silently appearing behind her.
