A palpable killing intent erupted from both individuals. If it weren't for Liu Yilin's presence, they would have already clashed.
"Mr. Ryan, please show some respect. He is my man, not some dog's. I don't think this meeting needs to continue," Liu Yilin said.
Upon hearing Ryan insult Ning Beichen, Liu Yilin inexplicably felt uncomfortable. Any lingering good feelings she had for Ryan vanished completely, replaced by disgust.
"Ning Beichen, let's go," Liu Yilin said to him.
"Certainly, boss. We don't stoop to the level of foreign dogs," Ning Beichen said with a grin. As he left, he couldn't resist further annoying Ryan.
He had been struggling to figure out how to expose Ryan's true colors, but unexpectedly, the man revealed himself without any effort from Ning Beichen, saving him considerable trouble.
As Ning Beichen walked away, he casually put his hand behind his back and gave Ryan the middle finger. This infuriated Ryan to no end. If the circumstances were different, he would have already attacked.
For years, no one had dared to insult a Golden Knight, let alone speak disrespectfully to him. Those who had were already buried in the earth.
"Miss Yilin, you will regret this. Without my funding, your company will soon collapse," Ryan said, his expression turning sinister as he watched the woman refuse his "kindness."
"My boss's affairs are none of your concern," Ning Beichen replied before Liu Yilin could speak.
Although he hadn't known Liu Yilin for long, less than a month in total, their constant proximity allowed him to understand her personality and temperament. He knew she wasn't the type to be threatened.
After Ning Beichen and Liu Yilin left, an old man appeared beside Ryan and said, "Young Master, you were too hasty."
"I don't have time to play games with her. The Holy Hall won't give me that much time. She's just a woman without power or influence. Since she refused my kindness, I have no reason to waste my time," Ryan explained to the old man.
"Young Master, this is not our territory. Be cautious of her bodyguard," the old man advised without contradicting Ryan.
"I will deal with him today. I'll pin the death of the Holy Hall's Silver Knights on him and give the Holy Hall an explanation," Ryan said with a dark expression.
He was unaware that he wouldn't need to frame Ning Beichen; the three Silver Knights of the Holy Hall had already died by his own hand.
"Boss, I told you before, that guy isn't a good person," Ning Beichen said to Liu Yilin after they left.
"He's not a good person, and neither are you," Liu Yilin retorted irritably. Ryan had designs on her, but this guy beside her was even more detestable for having taken advantage of her body.
Although it had been satisfying, Ryan's threats weighed on her like a mountain. If she couldn't resolve the funding issue, her company wouldn't last much longer.
"Boss, don't worry about the funding. How much do you need? Tell me, maybe I have a way to help you," Ning Beichen said.
"You? How much money can a bodyguard have? Forget it, you don't need to worry about this," Liu Yilin gave him a look. She knew he had won quite a bit of money during the car race last time.
However, she wasn't short of a small amount, but a vast sum, not something a million or ten million could solve, but a colossal astronomical figure that a bodyguard like Ning Beichen wouldn't even dare to dream of.
Therefore, Liu Yilin felt it was pointless to discuss it with him, as he couldn't help her.
Ning Beichen felt a mix of amusement and helplessness. He decided to keep the matter in mind for now, as mobilizing funds would take some time.
Liu Yilin wore a worried expression, and Ning Beichen didn't know what to say to her, as she clearly didn't believe he had the capability to help her.
After Ning Beichen escorted her back to the company, he made a few phone calls, including one to a manager at an offshore bank overseas. After some maneuvering and instructions, the matter was finally settled.
Shortly after, he received a call.
"Ning Beichen, Feng Wu is in my hands. If you don't want to see her beautiful head end up in your hands, come immediately..."
Not long after, Ning Beichen hung up the phone, his face ashen.
He didn't know who had called him, but when he tried Feng Wu's phone, it was already in the caller's possession, proving they weren't bluffing. His phone number had likely been found on Feng Wu's device.
Although Feng Wu was a bounty hunter who had surrendered to him and whose loyalty was yet to be tested, Ning Beichen had already considered her one of his own.
With a tense expression, Ning Beichen went to Liu Yilin's office to request leave, as Feng Wu's situation could not be delayed.
"Boss, I need to go out for a while. Before I return, don't leave the company, preferably don't leave the office," Ning Beichen instructed her.
"Ning Beichen, has something happened?" Liu Yilin asked with concern, having never seen him so anxious.
"It's nothing, boss, don't worry. I'm just taking care of some personal matters," Ning Beichen replied, not wanting her to worry about Feng Wu.
"Alright then... be careful. If anything happens, remember to call me," Liu Yilin said to him.
Although she didn't press him further, her curiosity grew. She wondered what personal matters he had.
Ning Beichen nodded and soon left Liu Yilin's office.
Little did he know that as soon as he left, Liu Yilin secretly followed him.
Ning Beichen, consumed by worry for Feng Wu, drove away from the company without much thought.
Liu Yilin, meanwhile, drove her own car, secretly tailing him, her curiosity intensifying as she wanted to know where he was going.
"Could this guy be going to meet that vixen Ye Ya'er behind her back again?" Liu Yilin thought jealously as she followed Ning Beichen's car.
Ning Beichen drove to the location specified by the caller, a logistics warehouse. The warehouse seemed disused, and no one was in sight.
Ning Beichen parked his car, got out, and walked inside, holding his hands up to show he was unarmed.
