"You don't need to doubt it, I've already done it. The people above you, or above them, are probably buried in the ground by now. Take a look at this list and see if anything is missing."
Ning Beichen, with a genial expression, presented a list to him.
Viler's face turned deathly pale as he glanced at the names on the list.
It not only detailed a list of individuals but also included their wives and children, relatives, businesses, assets, and extensive criminal evidence.
The list was so detailed that it specified their homes, the whereabouts of their spouses and children, the origins of their wealth, and so forth. Viler's name was naturally included.
It even outlined the sources and methods of his illicit earnings over the years, including a list of individuals he had bribed, making Viler break out in a cold sweat.
If Ning Beichen were to publicize this list, the consequences would be unimaginable – a storm exceeding level twelve in Maple Country.
Viler shook his head, his face ashen. The names on the list were even more numerous and detailed than what he knew.
He simply couldn't comprehend how this man dared to act this way.
How did he dare to threaten them?
Was he not afraid of their retaliation?
After all, these were people whose footsteps could shake Maple Country.
"The King of Darkness sends his regards to your entire family."
Ning Beichen placed a black card on the table and spoke to him while crossing his legs.
Upon hearing the name "King of Darkness" and seeing the black card on the table, Viler's entire body trembled.
Anyone could be threatened, but there was only one person in the world who was untouchable: the King of Darkness.
"Don't worry, you won't be the only scapegoat. By now, I imagine they've agreed as well. After all, being buried underground isn't a pleasant experience."
Ning Beichen dangled his legs on the table, unconcerned about Viler's refusal.
This was no longer a matter that he alone could decide. If Viler were truly a man of unyielding principle who feared no death, Ning Beichen wouldn't hesitate to send him to meet God.
Ever since he saw the black card on the table, Viler had abandoned any thought of retaliation.
If it had been another faction, Viler would have unhesitatingly found a way to eliminate them. But this was the King of Darkness. While others might have reservations, the King of Darkness had none.
It was ironic, really, that the King of Darkness could threaten them, yet it was the undeniable truth, a truth forged through countless bloody examples.
For the King of Darkness, finding three-legged people was difficult, but two-legged people were everywhere.
Without these individuals, the sun would still rise in Maple Country; it would merely be a different group in power. The only difference was that Viler and his ilk would never have that opportunity again.
Do people fear death?
The answer, of course, was yes. With such immense power unchecked, countless people wished for the King of Darkness's demise, yet he remained alive. What could anyone do?
It wasn't that the King of Darkness was unkillable, but no matter how formidable one was, or how powerful their weapons, the prerequisite was to *find* the King of Darkness.
Over the years, countless individuals had sought his whereabouts, but none had ever succeeded.
Instead, anyone who dared to oppose the King of Darkness would soon have their head severed as a warning, regardless of whether they were in power or in the media.
Over time, no one dared to provoke this madman.
As the saying goes, the barefoot are not afraid of those wearing shoes. When even the power of an entire nation couldn't find the person, yet anyone who issued the order was killed shortly thereafter, who would dare to speak up again? It was best to pretend not to see.
If I can't deal with you, I won't provoke you. Isn't that enough?
Thus, Viler never imagined that they would provoke the King of Darkness this time. What else could he do but lament his misfortune?
He wasn't that strong-willed, nor was he particularly righteous. What justice was for, no one understood better than those who manipulated power.
If my fist is bigger than yours, I declare you righteous, and you are righteous. I declare you evil, and you are evil.
This wasn't about appeasing the common people; it was about dealing with the devils who could end his life.
"I agree."
Viler had no choice but to agree. He didn't want to die, and his career was just beginning its ascent.
"However, arresting Ms. Liu Yilin was not our intention. We never intended to arrest her."
Viler explained to Ning Beichen.
"I know. Otherwise, do you think you'd still be alive to speak with me?"
Ning Beichen said. Since he wore a cold mask, Viler couldn't see his expression.
"Some things can be done, and some things cannot be done. They lead to death."
Ning Beichen gave him a subtle warning: don't assume that groveling to your masters will ensure their protection. There are matters even masters cannot intervene in.
Viler quickly nodded in agreement. Before Ning Beichen could give further instructions, he had already proactively withdrawn the personnel guarding Liu Yilin.
Viler couldn't afford to get involved in a conflict between such powerful entities. Regardless of what the higher-ups thought, he certainly didn't want to die.
Fortunately, he wasn't the only one who feared death. Soon after, he received a phone call from above, ordering him to release the person immediately. This brought Viler a sigh of relief, as at least he wouldn't be held accountable later.
The next morning, Maple Country issued a clarification, declared Liu Yilin innocent, and released her. They then offered a few insincere pleasantries, welcoming Ms. Liu Yilin's visit to Maple Country.
While there was no public apology to Liu Yilin, privately, those involved in the matter all sought her out to apologize. This left Liu Yilin both surprised and delighted.
Ning Beichen had left the previous night, and by today, these individuals were coming to apologize. Liu Yilin wouldn't believe for a moment that Ning Beichen had nothing to do with it.
Even more surprised than her was Hong Min. This had initially been a very complex matter. He had protested countless times and tried every possible avenue to secure her release, preparing for a protracted battle.
But for some inexplicable reason, Maple Country had suddenly declared Liu Yilin innocent today. The turn of events was more thrilling than a roller coaster ride.
Based on his understanding of them, Hong Min knew they wouldn't have suddenly developed a conscience or changed their minds. Something he was unaware of must have happened behind the scenes.
After all, whether Liu Yilin was released or not wasn't up to them; it was decided by a certain major power.
By releasing Liu Yilin like this, weren't they afraid of offending a major power?
