Chapter 332 Unwilling to Settle for Mediocrity

The answer is actually very simple: one is unwilling to remain ordinary. To become stronger, the human body is mysterious. Even with advanced Western medicine, it is difficult to unravel all its secrets, or even simple or complex things like a single cell.

Our cultivation is also for the betterment of our bodies, to become stronger, and to live longer. Thus, cultivators are the pioneers of humanity, seeking a path for human evolution.

This kind of pursuit is not unique to us ancient Eastern cultivators; it is practiced in all countries worldwide and has never ceased for millennia. Perhaps one day, we might truly achieve immortality and witness all the prosperity this world has to offer.

Within Ning Beichen's words, Liu Yilin glimpsed a mysterious path she had never encountered before. And this path held a strong allure for her. Most importantly, she finally felt she could integrate into Ning Beichen's world. It was unlike before, when despite her being the CEO of Tianmei Technology Group and Ning Beichen merely a bodyguard, they seemed to belong to different realms.

The next day, upon waking.

After completing her Star-Drawing Art cultivation, Liu Yilin emerged from her room feeling refreshed and invigorated. Compared to her previous bewilderment about cultivation, Ning Beichen's words last night had solidified her resolve. She had now found the path she yearned for.

However, she would not abandon her scientific pursuits or Tianmei Technology Group. Instead, she would manage them with even greater dedication. She had discovered that after cultivating, not only did her body become stronger, but her memory also improved, and her thinking became sharper when engaging in scientific research. What used to require a month or even several months of calculation and thought could now be resolved in a day, or even a few hours. This was one of the benefits cultivation had brought her.

Ning Beichen also finished his cultivation and prepared breakfast. Seeing Liu Yilin descend, he quickly called her over to eat.

"Beichen, the breakfast you make is getting more delicious. Unlike me, a girl, who can't even cook."

Liu Yilin savored the breakfast. Though simple, Ning Beichen's cooking was exquisite, far surpassing that of a five-star hotel chef. Yet, the thought of being a girl who couldn't cook made her steal a guilty glance at Ning Beichen.

"Heh, not being able to cook isn't a big flaw. Many girls nowadays can't cook. As long as you can eat, that's fine. No one dictates that girls must know how to cook."

"Besides, you're so beautiful, boss, who would bear to let you cook?" Ning Beichen grinned at her.

Hearing Ning Beichen's words, Liu Yilin secretly rejoiced. No woman dislikes being complimented on her beauty. Still, she rolled her eyes at him, her glance unintentionally full of charm.

"You only say sweet things."

"I'm speaking the truth." Ning Beichen replied earnestly.

"With such a silver tongue, how many girls' hearts must you have deceived?" Liu Yilin felt pleased inwardly but said contradictorily.

"How could I have? Boss, you can't wrongly accuse me." Ning Beichen immediately denied, looking guilty.

"Call me by my name." Liu Yilin said.

"Alright, Yilin, after breakfast, do you want to go boating on West Lake?" Ning Beichen asked her.

"Sure, but can you steer a boat?" Liu Yilin asked excitedly.

"Piece of cake." Ning Beichen patted his chest.

After breakfast, they boarded a small wooden boat and began their journey on West Lake. Ning Beichen, like a skilled fisherman, steadily steered the boat across the lake. The shore was lined with beautiful lotus flowers, creating a sense of serene delight. However, boat traffic was restricted in the core scenic areas of West Lake. Ning Beichen only played nearby for a short while before he and Liu Yilin returned home.

As soon as they docked and reached their doorstep, they saw Ma Liang, who seemed to have come specifically for them. Ning Beichen merely sneered dismissively, and Liu Yilin paid him no mind. Ma Liang, however, was so captivated by Liu Yilin that his eyes barely moved, wishing he could possess her immediately.

Last night, after Chen Mingyue took Ning Beichen and Liu Yilin away, Ma Liang was unwilling but helpless. He had thought he would never see Liu Yilin again, but unexpectedly, she hadn't left. It felt like heaven had sent her to him, so he immediately came to find her. As for Ning Beichen, Ma Liang didn't consider him a threat, seeing him merely as an ant, a bodyguard of no consequence.

"Miss Liu, I didn't expect us to meet again." As soon as Liu Yilin disembarked, Ma Liang walked up to her and said. Liu Yilin, however, ignored him and didn't respond to his words. She waited for Ning Beichen to get off the boat, and then they walked towards the house together.

"Miss Liu, wait." Ma Liang strode in front of Liu Yilin, blocking her path.

"I don't know you. Please move aside." Liu Yilin was forced to stop and say.

"Miss Liu, my name is Ma Liang. Have you forgotten? We met yesterday." Ma Liang said.

"Oh, what is it you need?" Liu Yilin asked coldly. She hadn't forgotten him; she simply didn't want to remember him and was pretending. Liu Yilin had always maintained a cold demeanor towards such spoiled young masters. She wasn't inexperienced. If one spoke of ability, someone like Ma Liang, a pampered heir, only had the opportunity to act arrogantly due to his family's fortune. Without his family, he would likely be inferior to an ordinary person. Liu Yilin, on the other hand, had built Tianmei Technology Group from scratch all by herself. To put it bluntly, someone like Ma Liang wasn't even qualified to carry her shoes.

"Miss Liu, I'd like to be friends with you." Ma Liang said.

"I'm sorry, I'm not interested in being friends with you." Liu Yilin gave him no leeway, making Ma Liang's expression turn unpleasant.

"Miss Liu, I don't think you know who I am. Have you heard of the Ma family of Suzhou-Hangzhou? The Ma family is the largest business family in Suzhou-Hangzhou, and I am the heir to the Ma family..." Ma Liang proudly revealed his background, just like those spoiled young masters who constantly bragged about their fathers, saying things like 'My father is so-and-so.'

"So what?" Liu Yilin's eyes showed even more disdain. If he hadn't resorted to boasting about his family, perhaps Liu Yilin would have regarded him a little more highly. Compared to Ning Beichen, this Ma Liang was as childish as a toddler.

"Miss Liu, do you not understand my words? Here in Suzhou-Hangzhou, for me, Ma Liang, to want to be friends with you is your honor." Being rejected repeatedly by Liu Yilin, Ma Liang's arrogant, spoiled young master demeanor finally surfaced.
