The assistant, granted permission by Fu Yan Ting, wasted no time and left the conference room.
After the assistant departed,
Fu Wen Hai glanced at Yan Xi. Did she believe that by wearing a business suit and appearing professional, she could help Fu Yan Ting overcome this crisis?
Not at all.
Fu Wen Hai had already resigned himself to defeat, as Fu Yan Ting had managed to gain the upper hand with his silver tongue.
However, he hadn't anticipated that if fate didn't wish for him to perish, it would offer assistance from every corner.
And so, fate directly led Yan Xi into the conference room. Fu Wen Hai subtly observed the expressions of the other directors, noticing that they all looked displeased.
This reassured Fu Wen Hai.
The corners of his mouth curved upwards slightly.
After appraising Yan Xi and remaining silent for a moment, Fu Wen Hai finally spoke, "Yan Ting, I know you're unable to collaborate with the YC Group and you're anxious. But you can't just find anyone to impersonate them."
Yan Xi remained silent. For some reason, seeing Yan Xi so calm also made Fu Yan Ting calmer.
Fu Wen Hai, seeing the couple unhurried, grew quite angry.
However, due to the presence of the other directors, he couldn't overtly display his anger.
Fu Wen Hai stared at Yan Xi and Fu Yan Ting, fell silent for a moment, and then spoke again, "Miss Yan, although this is the Fu Group's property, you should set an example for others. It's better if you don't barge into our meetings. What do you think?"
"Second Uncle is right to educate me."
Yan Xi, composed and respectful, looked at the directors present. After a moment of silence, she continued, "If I were to appear here today as Fu Yan Ting's wife, I would apologize to everyone. But I am not. I am here today representing the YC Group."
As soon as Yan Xi finished speaking, discussions erupted amongst the attendees.
If Yan Xi was affiliated with the YC Group, why hadn't she helped Fu Yan Ting at the Fu Group over the years they were together?
Now, with the Fu Group in trouble, she suddenly claimed to be from the YC Group. To be honest, no one present truly believed her. They suspected this was Fu Yan Ting's ploy to stabilize his position.
Working in tandem with Yan Xi, they were putting on a show.
After all, the ultimate control of the Fu Group still rested with Fu Yan Ting, and whether a genuine collaboration with the YC Group would occur was still unknown.
Their only interest was receiving their annual dividends from the Fu Group.
With this thought, the directors remained silent, content to watch Fu Wen Hai badger Yan Xi and Fu Yan Ting, curious to see how they would counter.
After all, they were not members of the Fu family and were merely observing the spectacle.
The prospect of Fu Yan Ting and Fu Wen Hai tearing each other apart, resulting in mutual destruction, was precisely what they desired. That way, the company would belong to them.
Despite their impassive faces and silence, the directors were all engaged in their own machinations.
Yan Xi seemed to sense their suspicion. She stood up and handed her business card to every director present.
Upon seeing Yan Xi's business card, the directors' eyes widened in disbelief.
They had assumed Yan Xi was merely Fu Yan Ting's ex-wife.
Now, even after their divorce, she was unwilling to relinquish her status as the Fu family's young mistress, returning to entangle herself with Fu Yan Ting.
But when Yan Xi stated she was from the YC Group, they had believed she was just a nominal employee.
After all, when Mu Jing Chen was alive, Yan Xi had been quite close to him.
However, upon seeing the business card Yan Xi had handed them, they were instantly dumbfounded.
They had never imagined Yan Xi was the CEO of the YC Group.
Seeing this business card, everyone seemed to understand why Yan Xi was helping Fu Yan Ting.
Yet, some who were aligned with Fu Wen Hai, upon seeing Yan Xi's business card, couldn't help but raise questions.
"Miss Yan, since you are the CEO of the YC Group and your relationship with Mr. Fu is also quite close, why did you refuse when someone from the Fu Group sought to discuss collaboration previously?"
"Indeed, we can't comprehend this. Miss Yan, could you provide us with a reasonable explanation?"
Yan Xi had anticipated this and was mentally prepared for the directors to pose such challenging questions.
Yan Xi, unhurried, looked at the directors, gave a faint smile, and then responded, "What you say is not untrue. Previously, I genuinely did not wish to collaborate with the Fu Group. Firstly, I didn't want to let personal emotions interfere with work. Secondly, the projects managed by the Fu Group were different from mine, and collaboration would have merely been a waste of everyone's time. I didn't want to be accused of succeeding because of Fu Yan Ting. Conversely, Fu Yan Ting would certainly not want to be accused of rising through the ranks by a woman. Therefore, I rejected the Fu Group's proposal for collaboration earlier."
Yan Xi's reasoning was sound and difficult to dismiss.
However, even so, there were still those who sought to challenge her.
Fu Wen Hai, for instance.
Seeing Yan Xi articulate her points so convincingly, as if she had come prepared, Fu Wen Hai sneered and asked, "In that case, Miss Yan, you are now divorced from Mr. Fu, and you haven't remarried. Why are you now helping the Fu Group and seeking to collaborate with them?"
Yan Xi's words seemed inconsistent and unreliable.
Fu Wen Hai stared at Yan Xi, determined to see how she could lie her way out of this one.
In truth, Fu Wen Hai had almost resigned himself to his fate. It was Yan Xi's sudden intrusion that had rekindled his hope.
He felt that he could indeed take over the Fu Group.
Therefore, Yan Xi's unexpected appearance had given Fu Wen Hai a glimmer of hope.
Naturally, Fu Wen Hai would not miss this opportunity to corner Yan Xi.
Yan Xi, however, saw through Fu Wen Hai's scheme.
A slight smile played on Yan Xi's lips as she calmly stated, "I heard that someone was deliberately bullying Fu Yan Ting. If I didn't come to discuss collaboration, Fu Yan Ting would be unemployed."
"Actually, I don't care if he becomes unemployed. After all, with his capabilities, he wouldn't have trouble earning money. Even if he couldn't, the YC Group has ample resources, and supporting him wouldn't be an issue. I simply don't want others to bully him."
In Yan Xi's heart, she could bully Fu Yan Ting, but no one else could.
Her statement left Fu Wen Hai speechless.
He had thought this was an opportunity to oust Fu Yan Ting, or at least, to diminish his pride and make him understand that the Fu Group was not solely his.
