Chapter 176 Miss Yan, Let's Meet

Mu Jing Shen understood Yan Xi well and knew she would refuse if he were too direct. To leave her no room to refuse, Mu Jing Shen deliberately added the word "family."

As expected, Yan Xi, who had been struggling, fell silent upon hearing Mu Jing Shen mention family, allowing herself to be held by him.

Mu Jing Shen held Yan Xi greedily, wishing time would freeze at this moment, free from the bothersome affairs outside, and from Fu Yan Ting pestering Yan Xi. How wonderful that would be.

However, good times don't last. Mu Jing Shen's wishful thinking was interrupted by his phone ringing, pulling him back to reality.

Mu Jing Shen took out his phone and glanced at it. He didn't want to answer.

But it was the doctor from the hospital calling. Mu Jing Shen knew it was likely Liu Yuan had another issue, otherwise, the doctor wouldn't call him rashly.

A cold glint flashed in Mu Jing Shen's eyes.

The doctor reported, "Mr. Mu, your mother seems to have been stimulated by something. She suddenly refuses treatment and is now bent on seeking death. We doctors can't stop her. We just gave her a sedative."

Hearing the doctor's words, Mu Jing Shen knew in his heart that this must have something to do with Mu Huai.

However, Mu Jing Shen didn't have enough evidence yet to prove that Mu Huai was behind it all.

Mu Jing Shen dared not delay. He hung up the phone and rushed to the hospital.

Seeing Mu Jing Shen about to leave, Yan Xi asked, "Did your mother have another accident?"

"Mm, Xi Xi, wait for me here."

"I want to go with you."

Mu Jing Shen worried that if Mu Huai knew of Yan Xi's existence, it might be disadvantageous to her.

He said, "No need. I'll be back soon."

Yan Xi was concerned about Mu Jing Shen and wanted to accompany him, but since Mu Jing Shen insisted, she didn't push it.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Mu Jing Shen didn't see Mu Huai, only doctors and nurses busily attending to matters outside Liu Yuan's ward.

Frankly, Mu Jing Shen had no good feelings towards his mother.

Yet, when he heard from the doctor that Liu Yuan was in trouble again, his heart ached.

Yan Xi was unaware of what had happened to Mu Jing Shen's mother. Mu Jing Shen seemed reluctant to talk about his family matters, so Yan Xi didn't ask further.

Suddenly, Yan Xi's phone rang. It was an unknown number. Yan Xi frowned. After a brief hesitation, she decided to answer.

She pressed the answer button. On the other end, Mu Huai spoke softly, "Miss Yan, let's meet."

Yan Xi didn't know this was Mu Jing Shen's father. However, after answering the call, to be directly asked this, Yan Xi's brow furrowed slightly.

Before Yan Xi could respond, Yan Zi Tong's voice came from the phone.

"Mommy, don't come. This person is a big bad guy."

Yan Xi could have refused, but hearing her son's voice, her heart clenched. She anxiously asked from her end of the phone, "Who are you? Let my son go, or I will not be polite to you."

Mu Huai did not take Yan Xi's words seriously.

Hearing Yan Xi's question, Mu Huai's lips curved slightly as he said indifferently, "Miss Yan, as I said, we should meet. Don't worry, as long as you show up, your son will be safe."

Hearing his words, Yan Xi clenched her fists.

Such blatant, naked threat, and Yan Xi didn't even know who the other party was.

She had no choice but to go.

Yan Xi had no other choice. After hanging up, she tried her best to remain calm, telling herself that Yan Zi Tong was very smart and wouldn't put himself in danger.

But no matter what, he was still just a five-year-old child.

Facing such a situation, he would surely panic.

Yan Xi dared not waste time. She quickly put on a set of clothes and hurried to the meeting.

Upon arriving at the location, Yan Xi saw a man in a jacket and baseball cap, looking about fifty years old. Yan Xi frowned. She was certain she didn't know the man in front of her and wondered why he had kidnapped Yan Zi Tong and why he was so insistent on meeting her.

Without much time for thought, Yan Xi walked over.

Seeing Yan Xi, Mu Huai was slightly taken aback. He felt as if he was looking at a familiar face, but this subtle feeling was quickly hidden.

Mu Huai politely gestured to Yan Xi, indicating for her to sit down.

Yan Xi was not in the mood to ponder who this man was or what his purpose was in wanting to see her.

Yan Xi had always been cautious and on guard.

Seeing this, Mu Huai chuckled lightly and said, "Miss Yan, there's no need to be so reserved. In fact, I asked you out today simply as an elder who wishes to meet you."

Mu Huai's words left Yan Xi utterly confused.

Mu Huai also sensed this and explained helplessly, "I am Mu Jing Shen's father. I know you and Jing Shen are about to get married, but that child Jing Shen has a prejudice against me and has never brought you home."

Yan Xi was somewhat aware of Mu Jing Shen's conflicts with his family.

Yan Xi observed the man in front of her, knowing what he had done to Mu Jing Shen, so she didn't have a good impression of him.

Even though he was acting very amiable now, Yan Xi only sensed his hypocrisy.

"Xi Xi, may I call you that?"

Mu Huai was quite forward.

Yan Xi snorted and replied, "Mr. Mu, you should still call me Miss Yan."

Mu Huai's warmth was met with a cold shoulder, and he inwardly grumbled that Yan Xi was ungrateful.

However, for the sake of his plan, he couldn't anger Yan Xi and had to do as she said.

Mu Huai smiled helplessly. Yan Xi said indifferently, "Mr. Mu, what is it you wanted to discuss today? Please be direct."

Mu Huai was slightly taken aback, seemingly surprised that Yan Xi was so unyielding.

Since Yan Xi wanted him to be direct, he would be so.

"Miss Yan, I know about your relationship with Fu Yan Ting. As long as you take the property from Fu Yan Ting and we split it equally, I will agree to your marriage with Jing Shen."

Yan Xi was surprised that Mu Jing Shen's father had gone to such lengths, only to set his sights on Fu Yan Ting's assets.

Yan Xi was unsure how much property Fu Yan Ting had, but she would never agree to do such a thing.

Mu Huai seemed to have read Yan Xi's mind. He smiled faintly and said, "Miss Yan, as long as you agree, I guarantee your son will be safe."
