Up to the operating room door, Yan Xi's gaze remained fixed on Fu Yan Ting.
She pleaded, hoping Fu Yan Ting would not be so cruel to the child, sparing the nascent embryo.
But Fu Yan Ting cruelly refused Yan Xi.
Yan Xi was sent into the operating room. She looked at Fu Yan Ting, her eyes filled with hatred, and roared, "Fu Yan Ting, I hate you. I will never forgive you in this lifetime."
Fu Yan Ting's back was to Yan Xi. After she spoke, his body stiffened, but he quickly regained his composure.
Those who betrayed him never had a good end.
Even Yan Xi was no exception.
Fu Yan Ting clenched his fists tightly. No matter how Yan Xi pleaded or threatened, he remained unmoved.
Yan Xi's voice gradually faded.
Until it disappeared from Fu Yan Ting's ears, he slowly turned around, but Yan Xi was already gone.
Half an hour later, Yan Xi lay weakly on the hospital bed, being pushed out by a nurse.
The nurse informed Fu Yan Ting of the precautions needed after a miscarriage, then sent Yan Xi to a regular ward.
Yan Xi only needed observation, and she could leave if there were no major issues.
Fu Yan Ting stared at Yan Xi's sleeping face, his thoughts drifting.
He told himself silently that without the child, he would treat Yan Xi well.
When Yan Xi opened her eyes, she saw Fu Yan Ting's face, which used to make her heart sink.
Yan Xi averted her gaze, ignoring Fu Yan Ting.
Fu Yan Ting knew Yan Xi was in a bad mood and didn't want to talk to him, but he didn't mind.
"Leave. I don't want to see you."
Yan Xi's back was to Fu Yan Ting. The thought of him killing their child filled her with rage.
But now, she could not get angry.
Yan Xi tried hard to control her emotions, but she couldn't bear to see Fu Yan Ting's face; seeing it made her lose control.
Fu Yan Ting looked at Yan Xi's back, frowned, and neither left nor responded to her words.
Yan Xi knew Fu Yan Ting hadn't left.
She gently stroked her lower abdomen.
This time, she had to become strong, strong enough to contend with Fu Yan Ting. She had to protect the baby in her belly.
Fu Yan Ting took Yan Xi back to the villa. Yan Xi locked herself in her room, ignoring the outside world.
She also refused to eat.
Yan Xi dared not eat. She was in the early stages of pregnancy, and her morning sickness was severe. She was afraid that if she ate in front of Fu Yan Ting and her morning sickness acted up, it would arouse his suspicion.
For the sake of the baby, Yan Xi dared not take any risks.
But Fu Yan Ting was completely unaware of all this. He thought Yan Xi was protesting by starving herself.
Seeing Yan Xi like this, Fu Yan Ting felt heartbroken, but he had no regrets. If he had another chance, he would still make the same decision.
He would not let an illegitimate child stand between him and Yan Xi.
He wasn't that magnanimous to accept something out of affection for the other.
Fu Yan Ting's phone rang. He took it out and saw it was the hospital director calling him.
He pressed the answer button, his tone extremely indifferent, and asked, "Is there something?"
"Mr. Fu, the kidney source you asked us to find last time has been matched. Now, we are just waiting for your approval to proceed with the surgery."
"Good. Arrange a time."
Fu Yan Ting hung up the phone.
Fu Yan Ting went to the kitchen and instructed Aunt Zhang to prepare a table full of delicious food.
He hadn't forgotten the doctor's advice. Yan Xi had just undergone a miscarriage and was very weak, so she needed to consume nourishing foods to recuperate.
After giving his instructions, Fu Yan Ting went upstairs to see Yan Xi.
He pushed the door open. Yan Xi was still lying on the bed, her back facing Fu Yan Ting.
Fu Yan Ting knew clearly that Yan Xi was not asleep; she simply didn't want to see him.
However, Fu Yan Ting didn't care. He had a way to make Yan Xi compromise in front of him.
He walked to the bedside and looked at Yan Xi's back. He said softly, "Xi Xi, the doctor said you are a bit weak and need to eat more nourishing food to recuperate."
Yan Xi closed her eyes. She couldn't feel more heartbroken.
If this were before today, and Fu Yan Ting had done these things for her, Yan Xi might have been deeply moved. But now, Yan Xi felt only profound hatred towards Fu Yan Ting.
She would never forget what she had endured today.
She had pleaded, struggled, and fought, but in the end, Fu Yan Ting had cruelly aborted the baby in her womb.
"Xi Xi, I asked Aunt Zhang to make your favorite dishes. No matter what, your health is your own. Can you get up and eat something?"
"Get lost."
Yan Xi suddenly sat up and looked at Fu Yan Ting, her eyes revealing no hint of hidden hatred.
This was the first time Yan Xi had lost her temper so severely with Fu Yan Ting, even resorting to vulgar language.
Fu Yan Ting stared intently at Yan Xi, saying nothing.
Yan Xi tried to calm herself down, but as soon as she saw Fu Yan Ting, she remembered the scene at the hospital when she had begged him, and she couldn't control her emotions, her heart filled with rage.
"Fu Yan Ting, do you not find it hypocritical to say these things to me now? I begged you then. I pleaded with you to let me keep the child, but what about you?"
"Do you really think I know nothing? That child belongs to Fu Hao. You approached me with such calculation. I merely aborted your and his bastard, and you treat me like this. If I don't expose you, do you think I'm easy to fool?"
Yan Xi closed her eyes in despair. She finally understood why Fu Yan Ting had been so cruel to her. It turned out Fu Yan Ting had misunderstood her.
He thought the child in her womb was Fu Hao's.
How ridiculous. Because of a misunderstanding, Fu Yan Ting had destroyed his own flesh and blood.
"Fu Yan Ting, if I told you that child wasn't Fu Hao's, but yours, would you regret it?"
Yan Xi decided to give Fu Yan Ting another chance.
Knowing that Fu Yan Ting had misunderstood, Yan Xi wanted to test him, to know his true feelings. If Fu Yan Ting could accept it knowing the child was his, Yan Xi would tell him the child was still alive and she hadn't aborted it.
After Yan Xi asked her question, time seemed to stand still. In the large room, only their heartbeats and breaths could be heard.
Time ticked by second by second. After an unknown period, Fu Yan Ting's voice, somewhat hoarse, asked, "Yan Xi, what did you just say?"
"Fu Yan Ting, I asked, if this child wasn't Fu Hao's, but your own flesh and blood, would you still make this decision? Would you not regret it?"
Fu Yan Ting slowly stood up and paced a few steps in the bedroom before slowly speaking, "No. Even if it were my child, I would still make you abort it. The child should not have come into this world in the first place."
