Chapter 242 Shi Wenwen is Dead

Faced with He Qi's questioning, Fu Yan Ting remained unconvinced.

Shi Wen Wen’s words were filled with too many lies. In Fu Yan Ting's eyes, Shi Wen Wen must have done something to Yan Xi. Now that she knew Fu Yan Ting was coming to settle the score, she had He Qi answer the phone to tell Fu Yan Ting that she was already dead.

Fu Yan Ting couldn't suppress the rage emanating from him, even over the phone.

He hadn't expected Shi Wen Wen to be so audacious as to lay a hand on his woman.

"Which hospital are you at now?" Fu Yan Ting asked coldly.

He Qi knew that Fu Yan Ting wouldn't believe him unless he saw Shi Wen Wen's body one last time.

He told Fu Yan Ting the name of the hospital.

At that moment, Shi Wen Wen's body was also wheeled out by a nurse.

He Qi stared at Shi Wen Wen's face and said softly, "Wen Wen, don't worry. I've let Fu Yan Ting come to see you. I'll do everything I promised you. You don't have to worry."

Shi Wen Wen lay there, motionless, yet He Qi couldn't shake the feeling that he was mistaken. He always felt that Shi Wen Wen's lips were slightly upturned.

It was as if she was very satisfied with what he had just said.

He Qi embraced Shi Wen Wen's body and said softly, "Wen Wen, I know you're not really dead. You're just doing this deliberately to provoke Fu Yan Ting. I know everything."

"Don't worry, even if Fu Yan Ting comes, I won't tell him the truth. I'll do as you wish and tell Fu Yan Ting directly that you're dead, and the one who caused your death is Fu Yan Ting."

He Qi tightly clasped Shi Wen Wen's hand and murmured in her ear.

Before long, Fu Yan Ting arrived at the hospital. The hospital was vast, but Fu Yan Ting spotted He Qi at a glance and walked towards him.

Sensing a shadow behind him, He Qi’s lips curved slightly upward. He sized up Fu Yan Ting and said sarcastically, "Fu Yan Ting, you're quite capable, making a woman die for you."

How could Fu Yan Ting not detect the sarcasm in He Qi’s tone?

Fu Yan Ting couldn't be bothered to pay attention to He Qi. He glanced at Shi Wen Wen, placed his hand on her fingertip, and only after confirming that Shi Wen Wen had no breath did he withdraw his hand with satisfaction.

He Qi was even more incensed by Fu Yan Ting's actions.

He stood up, looked at Fu Yan Ting coldly, and questioned, "Fu Yan Ting, what do you mean by this?"

Shi Wen Wen was dead, and she had died for Fu Yan Ting. Now, Fu Yan Ting’s attitude suggested he didn't believe Shi Wen Wen was dead?

Did he think this was a scheme devised by Shi Wen Wen and himself to trick him?

He Qi felt that Shi Wen Wen had suffered for nothing.

Shi Wen Wen had died without ever gaining Fu Yan Ting's trust, all her sincerity wasted.

Fu Yan Ting gave He Qi a cold glance and said, his voice neither hurried nor slow, "He Qi, do you think I wouldn't know about the things you've done just because you're not saying anything?"

After speaking, Fu Yan Ting strode out of the hospital.

Shi Wen Wen's death seemed to have nothing to do with him.

Fu Yan Ting’s indifferent attitude enraged He Qi. He wanted to confront Fu Yan Ting, but in his current state, He Qi was no match for Fu Yan Ting in any aspect.

He had lost to Fu Yan Ting again.

He Qi vowed inwardly, "It's okay. I will make myself strong enough to surpass Fu Yan Ting."

After leaving the hospital, Fu Yan Ting felt quite calm. Shi Wen Wen's death didn't cause him any great emotional upheaval.

Ultimately, it was a matter of not being in love.

When Fu Yan Ting returned home, Yan Xi saw him back so quickly and sneered, "What? Met your fiancée? Can't bear to question her, so you've come back to placate me?"

Fu Yan Ting didn't want to argue with Yan Xi's sarcasm. He remained silent, offering no defense, and walked towards his study.

Yan Xi, however, wouldn't let it go. She chased after him, grabbed his sleeve, and asked coldly and distantly, "Why aren't you speaking? Why aren't you explaining? Have you run out of words? Fu Yan Ting, I don't care if you favor her. What I care about is you pretending to be magnanimous here to appease me, and then going to comfort your fiancée. You are truly two-faced."

Faced with Yan Xi's aggressive questioning, Fu Yan Ting wasn't angry or annoyed. He spoke in a somewhat hoarse voice, "Shi Wen Wen is dead."

Yan Xi thought she had misheard. She looked at Fu Yan Ting incredulously and asked coldly, "What did you just say?"

"I said, Shi Wen Wen is dead. But don't worry, even if she's dead, there are still flaws. I promised I would investigate this matter thoroughly and clear your name. I keep my word."

Yan Xi's mind went blank. She couldn't snap out of it for a long time.

Shi Wen Wen was dead.

If Fu Yan Ting hadn't told Yan Xi, she wouldn't have known. Even if Fu Yan Ting had told her, Yan Xi still wouldn't have believed it was true. Yan Xi could sense how much Shi Wen Wen cared about Fu Yan Ting.

How could someone like her bear to leave Fu Yan Ting and die?

Perhaps Fu Yan Ting couldn't bear to hurt Shi Wen Wen, but he also needed to give Yan Xi an explanation, so he said it deliberately.

Thinking this, Yan Xi's heart grew colder, and she showed no better expression towards Fu Yan Ting.

Yan Xi and Fu Yan Ting entered into a cold war.

It wasn't until three days later, when the Shi family made a grand show of holding Shi Wen Wen's funeral, that Yan Xi realized Fu Yan Ting hadn't lied to her. Everything he had said was true.

Yan Xi went to the Shi family to offer her condolences.

When Shi Kai Nan saw Yan Xi, his usual affectionate demeanor was gone. He looked haggard. Seeing Yan Xi, Shi Kai Nan said coldly, "Miss Yan, haven't you already caused my sister enough suffering? Why are you here? To mock her?"

"Whether you believe it or not, I've come to pay my respects. I know we had many unpleasant interactions when Shi Wen Wen was alive, but now that she's dead, I don't want to dwell on it."

"Miss Yan, please leave. I believe if my sister knew, she wouldn't want you to be the one offering condolences. I don't want her to die with regrets. I appreciate your kind intentions."

Shi Kai Nan's words left Yan Xi with no room for argument, and he drove her away.

Regardless, they were in the midst of funeral arrangements and were not in a good mood. Yan Xi saw no need to stubbornly confront them.

Yan Xi sensibly left the Shi family. Just as she had taken a couple of steps, Shi Kai Nan's voice called out from behind her.

"Mr. Fu truly shows great care for our Shi family. You didn't forget to personally attend the funeral even when my sister passed away."
