Chapter 90 Hide-and-Seek

Lin Jing glanced at Sheng Kuang hastily, finding him acting as if nothing was wrong. He stood up, holding his phone in one hand, and walked towards the door.

...He seemed to completely forget she was still in the room, acting entirely naturally.

Lin Jing quickly spoke up to make her presence known: "Sheng Kuang."

"Hm?" Sheng Kuang turned his head, but his steps towards the door showed no sign of stopping.

"..."

Huh?

Did he not grasp her hint?

He and she... a man and a woman, alone, in the same room, late at night... if Lan Bowen saw this, it would be impossible to explain clearly no matter what.

Lin Jing blinked, wanting to remind Sheng Kuang again, but his hand had already reached for the doorknob.

The doorknob turned, and the door was about to open in the next second.

Lin Jing's heart skipped a beat. She frantically looked around, then, like a thief, she grabbed her phone and hid behind the bed nearby.

The door opened, and Lan Bowen's voice came through, "Here you go."

Lin Jing didn't know what Lan Bowen was giving Sheng Kuang, but she only heard Sheng Kuang reply, "Just put it on the desk for me. I'm going to the restroom."

Lan Bowen: "Alright."

Sheng Kuang didn't say anything and went into the bathroom.

Lin Jing shivered, shrinking behind the bed. Hearing Lan Bowen's footsteps drawing closer, she nervously swallowed and, without thinking, crawled under the bed.

Lan Bowen didn't linger in Sheng Kuang's room. After putting down the item, he left. As he passed the restroom door, he knocked and said, "I'm leaving. Go to bed early, don't play too late. You have a full day of training tomorrow."

The sound of running water came from the restroom, mixed with Sheng Kuang's casual reply, "Got it."

Lan Bowen's footsteps disappeared as he closed the door.

Immediately after, the restroom door opened, and Sheng Kuang walked out. He glanced at the empty chair at the desk, looked around the room, and not seeing Lin Jing, said, "Lin Jing?"

No one answered him.

Sheng Kuang put his phone on the desk, casually took out two tissues, wiped the water droplets from his hands, and then pulled back the curtains to look out onto the balcony. "Where is she?"

He muttered in confusion, then walked back to the desk, picked up his phone, found Lan Bowen's WeChat, and pressed for voice message, "Mosquito—"

Before he could finish his sentence, he felt a light tug on his trouser leg.

He stopped speaking and lowered his eyes to look at the floor.

A beautiful, slender hand was gripping a tiny corner of his pant leg.

Under his gaze, her head slowly emerged from under the bed.

Sheng Kuang: "..."

Only after Lin Jing's shoulders became visible from under the bed did Sheng Kuang cancel the message to Lan Bowen and toss his phone onto the desk beside him. He continued to stare down at the person on the floor for a moment before finally accepting the scene before him. "It's late at night, are you trying to scare me like a ghost?"

Lin Jing paused and said softly, "No."

Sheng Kuang looked at her. "Then what are you doing hiding under the bed when you have nothing else to do?"

Lin Jing was stumped.

She was silent for a while, then blinked. A flash of inspiration struck her. She looked up at Sheng Kuang and blurted out three words: "Playing hide-and-seek."

Sheng Kuang seemed stunned by her absurd reason and remained silent for a moment.

Lin Jing found it uncomfortable to be lying on the floor. Seeing Sheng Kuang's lack of reaction, she reached out and gently poked his ankle.

Sheng Kuang's fingertips trembled slightly, and his gaze fell on Lin Jing's face.

Lin Jing swallowed. "Can you move aside a little? You're blocking my way out."

Sheng Kuang didn't move from his spot. His gaze slowly shifted from her face to his trouser leg. Just as Lin Jing was about to remind him again, he subtly shifted his gaze and moved a few steps to the side, clearing enough space for her.

Lin Jing crawled out from under the bed, then pushed herself up slowly, using her hands on the floor.

Sheng Kuang's room was cleaned by an aunt every day, and it was quite clean even under the bed. However, after crawling around under it, her hair and clothes were a little disheveled.

Especially her the back of her head, where a small piece of paper was stuck.

Sheng Kuang watched her scratch her clothes and then her hair, unable to get the small piece of paper off. He couldn't help but reach out and pluck it from between her strands of hair.

She sensed something amiss and turned her head. She seemed about to ask him what was wrong, her lips moving towards him, when her gaze fell on the scrap of paper he held between his fingertips.

Her mouth opened, but no sound came out. She just stared at his fingertips.

Sheng Kuang's hand froze in mid-air, holding the scrap of paper. He didn't know whether to put it down or not.

After about ten seconds of stalemate, Sheng Kuang's peripheral vision caught sight of the item Lan Bowen had brought over. He slowly rolled the scrap of paper into a thin strip and threw it into the trash can. Casually, he said to her, "There's dessert behind you, Mosquito just brought it over."

Lin Jing looked behind her and saw that there were two portions of dessert.

She blinked, then blinked again, her expression a little stiff as she twisted her neck to look at Sheng Kuang. "Why are there two portions?"

Sheng Kuang looked at her strangely. "Am I not human, or are you not human?"

Lin Jing: "..."

That wasn't what she meant.

She meant how would Lan Bowen know that there were two people in his room.

Lin Jing looked expressionlessly at Sheng Kuang, who was unwrapping the dessert. After a moment of silence, she quietly asked, "Did you tell the coach I was in your room?"

Sheng Kuang glanced at her. "No."

Lin Jing was confused.

If he didn't say it, then who did?

Did someone see her when she came to his room?

She didn't think so...

After finishing unwrapping the dessert, Sheng Kuang added, "Not just Mosquito, but everyone."
