Thank goodness, the girl next door finally realized he was unhappy.
But she just felt that his unhappiness had nothing to do with her.
He silently played games with her and her roommate for over an hour. He didn't play support, nor did he let her play support. She still didn't think it was about herself.
Sheng Kuang stared at the messages on the screen and was so angry he almost laughed.
Heh.
She was quite good at distancing herself.
"Still have the chance to block Zhuge Liang's ultimate for you again?" Does he look like someone who can't dodge Zhuge Liang's ultimate?
Even if he really couldn't dodge it, does he look like someone who would use her for protection?
Sheng Kuang had trained his game sense for over two hours. His head finally stopped hurting, but now, because of her few messages, his temples were throbbing, and his headache was worse.
Under that indescribable sense of irritation, he rapidly tapped at the screen.
"I'm not happy, but gdt isn't enough to make me unhappy."
"I'm not unhappy, I'm just very annoyed."
"I have Purify, I don't need you to block Zhuge Liang's ultimate for me."
Sheng Kuang typed a sentence, deleted a sentence, back and forth for a long time, but sent no message. In the end, he didn't know what he specifically wanted to reply to her, until he came back to his senses and found that he had unconsciously typed: "Are you really going out with another guy tomorrow?"
Sheng Kuang froze. He stared at the unsent line for a long time, feeling his head hurt even more, and his mood grew more irritable.
He hesitated to touch his phone for a while. The screen automatically went black. He stood by the bed expressionlessly for a moment, then threw his phone onto the bed and went into the bathroom to shower.
Standing under the shower, the last sentence he typed flashed through his mind again.
Another guy…
How could he have used "another guy"? That was the class monitor, someone she knew even before him, and perhaps even better than him. If the class monitor was "another guy," then what was he in that girl's eyes?
… At best, just "a guy"?
Sheng Kuang wasn't sure if the water was too hot, but he felt like he was a bit short of oxygen.
He leaned against the wall, lowered his head, and stared at the wet floor for a few seconds. He sighed and turned off the showerhead.
Half an hour later, Sheng Kuang lay on the bed, propped up on his arms, staring at the ceiling, and began to question if he had some kind of mental illness.
What was wrong with the girl next door going out to an escape room with her classmates? Did he have to be so upset about it?
Thinking carefully, the class monitor hadn't said anything out of line or done anything inappropriate that night. Everything was perfectly normal, but why did he find that class monitor so infuriating?
He didn't even know the class monitor, they had never met. They only played one game together. Where did this deep-seated animosity come from?
Was it just because his gender was male?
Did the girl next door not have the right to have friends who were male?
Sheng Kuang, you're not her parents, what right do you have to interfere?
Besides, in this day and age, even her parents might not forbid her from having friends of the opposite sex.
Isn't this having a problem?
Sheng Kuang sighed again.
He understood all the logic, but he still couldn't help but feel a little angry.
…
The escape room that He Lin booked was a bit far from Sheng Kuang's place. Lin Jing searched the subway routes and found it would take about an hour to get there.
Lin Jing disliked making others wait for her, so she specifically left an extra half hour buffer. Therefore, for the 3 PM appointment, she planned to leave at 1:30 PM.
At 12:30 PM, Lan Bowen called everyone for lunch.
Sheng Kuang came to eat, wearing his casual clothes for going out, not his team uniform. Chen Jing saw his attire and was a little surprised. "Are you going out?"
Sheng Kuang "Mm-hmm"ed, "I have plans with someone."
Chen Jing: "Who?"
Sheng Kuang said nonchalantly, "My cousin."
Lin Jing glanced at him when she heard the word "cousin."
She didn't say anything, but Sheng Kuang seemed to understand her meaning and added, not too loudly, "Yes, the Jing with a 0-20-0 record."
Mentioning the 0-20-0 Jing made Lin Jing think of her own Shangguan Wan'er with a 0-10-1 record. Then, she coincidentally thought of her glorious deed of playing thirty bot games to cover up that record. She let out a sheepish "oh" and quietly lowered her head to continue eating.
Chen Jing: "Yu Zhou? He was still pestering me a few days ago to help him climb ranks."
Lan Bowen glanced at Chen Jing: "Are you sure you weren't the one looking for Xiao Yu Zhou, clinging to his leg, and asking him to help you climb ranks?"
Lin Jing couldn't help but interject: "So you all know him?"
"Yeah, he used to come to gdt often to see his brother," Chen Jing said. "Lin Meimei, why do you ask? Do you know Yu Zhou too? When did you meet?"
Lin Jing shook her head: "I don't know him, I've just played a couple of games with him."
"Oh, I see," Chen Jing thought Sheng Kuang had pulled Yu Zhou into the game when he played with Lin Jing, so he didn't think much of it. He continued to look at Sheng Kuang and asked, "What are you and Yu Zhou doing this afternoon?"
"Nothing much."
After a two-second pause, Sheng Kuang added, "Escape room."
ps: Yu Zhou: What escape room?
