After an unknown amount of time, Sheng Kuang finally released her.
He slowly lifted his eyelids and saw her wide-eyed, staring at him blankly with a cute, dazed expression. He couldn't help but chuckle softly.
She gazed at him blankly, as if her soul had been sucked away, showing no reaction at all.
Sheng Kuang lowered his head with a smile, gently rubbing his nose against hers.
The tingling sensation on her nose made her eyelashes tremble slightly.
Immediately after, she heard him laugh again, his voice carrying a hint of shallow breath, "Snap out of it, girlfriend."
Lin Jing felt her ears go numb, whether from his laughter or from him calling her "girlfriend," she didn't know.
She blinked at him, still somewhat dazed.
Sheng Kuang tilted his chin up slightly and kissed her nose. Then he felt his shirt tighten at the chest. He looked down, and after a couple of seconds, he asked with a smile, "Holding on so tight, don't your fingers hurt?"
Lin Jing didn't quite grasp his meaning.
Sheng Kuang freed one hand and gently tapped her hand twice.
Lin Jing followed his gesture and looked down.
At some point, her hands had landed on his chest, gripping his shirt tightly.
She had been clenching it so hard that the knuckles on her fingers had turned white.
It was better that he hadn't asked. Now that he had, she realized her hands actually hurt a bit.
She quickly let go of his shirt.
While she was holding his shirt, she had felt quite stable. But as she suddenly let go, her whole body collapsed into his embrace.
It was as if she were throwing herself into his arms.
Lin Jing paused for two seconds before realizing that her legs were weak.
Weak.
Weak.
Lin Jing: "..."
Sheng Kuang chuckled softly again, his chest trembling slightly with the sound. "Legs are already weak?"
Lin Jing: "..."
Lin Jing closed her eyes, feeling a desire to kill the culprit who made her lose her balance.
Sheng Kuang said quite earnestly, "It's okay, you'll get better with more practice."
"..."
Practice your head.
Lin Jing didn't want to engage with Sheng Kuang. She stood up, her expression blank, and pushed his chest. Using the resistance, she took half a step back, turned, and walked towards the bed. "I'm sleepy, I want to sleep."
As she spoke, she lifted the quilt, lay down on the bed, and closed her eyes like a primary school student.
Sheng Kuang watched her behavior and laughed again. "Really sleepy?"
Lin Jing remained silent.
Sheng Kuang lowered his head and turned off the room light. "Alright then, sleep if you're tired."
There was no other sound in the room. Lin Jing pretended to be asleep for a while. Out of curiosity about what Sheng Kuang was doing, she felt an urge to peek at him stealthily.
She fluttered her eyelashes, just about to open them, when suddenly a kiss landed on her forehead. "Goodnight, girlfriend."
Lin Jing froze and abandoned the idea of opening her eyes.
After kissing her, Sheng Kuang left, seemingly heading to the bathroom.
Lin Jing listened to the sounds coming from the bathroom and quietly reached up to touch her forehead. After a moment, she touched her lips.
She felt dazed, as if she were dreaming.
Even now, she couldn't believe that she, who had always been so proper, had impulsively booked a flight overnight to find Sheng Kuang.
She also couldn't believe that she had become Sheng Kuang's girlfriend.
And she even less believed that she and Sheng Kuang had just kissed...
All of this felt more surreal than any novel.
...
The next day, Monday, there was class at eight in the morning.
When He Lin arrived at the classroom, his first instinct was to look for Lin Jing. However, Lin Jing had not arrived by the time the professor appeared on the podium and started taking attendance.
But when the professor called out Lin Jing's name, Lan Tingting answered for her.
Lin Jing's grades had always been good, and the teachers were all quite assured of her, so it didn't raise any suspicion.
He Lin didn't expose anything either. He leaned back in his chair, distractedly twirling his pen and looking at the blackboard, as if he were listening to the lecture, but also as if his mind were elsewhere.
After class, someone next to him asked He Lin if he wanted to go to the restroom. He Lin took several seconds to respond before looking up at his roommate and saying no.
His roommate asked him what was wrong, but he didn't say anything.
After his roommate walked away, he leaned back in his chair, gazing out the window in a daze, and left the classroom with his phone.
