"..."
Lin Jing almost swallowed the candy in her mouth whole.
She stared blankly at the screen, froze for a few seconds, cursed inwardly, and then silently lowered her head, falling silent.
Her heart was pounding fiercely. She swallowed a few times but couldn't calm down.
What was happening? Was Sheng Kuang just too good at this, or was she just too inexperienced? His casual words had left her dizzy and disoriented.
Lin Jing let out a quiet breath. Only when the game started and it was time to choose heroes did she belatedly raise her hand and tug at her incredibly flushed ears.
After school started, Lin Jing rarely stayed up late, feeling sleepy by around midnight. By the end of the second game, she was so tired her vision was blurring. Their team had a high rank, and matching took a little time. Lin Jing was exhausted and decided to rest her head on the desk for a moment, but she ended up falling asleep.
Sheng Kuang didn't realize she had fallen asleep at first. From his perspective, she was lying on her side, looking at her phone on the desk.
The game match was successful, and players needed to confirm. The countdown had already begun ten seconds ago, but she still hadn't reacted. Sheng Kuang called out to her.
There was no response. Because she hadn't confirmed, the match failed, and she was kicked out of the room.
She would have to wait a minute to start a new game. Sheng Kuang put down his phone and asked, "Want to play again?"
She ignored him.
Sheng Kuang: "Tired?"
She still didn't respond. Sudan Novel Network
Sheng Kuang stood up, walked to the desk, and tapped her shoulder: "Lin Jing?"
She was still lying on the desk, unmoving.
Sheng Kuang leaned in, bent over, and gently pushed her hair aside, peeking at her face buried in her arm.
Well, she was asleep.
Sheng Kuang paused for three seconds, then tugged at her arm: "Go to bed."
Lin Jing vaguely lifted her eyelids, then shook her head: "I'm not showering."
Sheng Kuang: "..."
Her eyes were a little red from exhaustion. She soon closed her eyelids again, resting her head on her arm in a different direction, her voice muffled by sleep as she said, "I already showered."
Then, she fell asleep again.
"..."
Sheng Kuang, stunned into speechlessness by her non-sequitur, stood by her for two seconds, then sighed softly. He took her phone from her hand, placed it nearby, and then picked her up from the chair and placed her on the bed.
She fell into a deep sleep the moment she hit the mattress.
Sheng Kuang pulled the quilt over her.
He looked at her sleeping face, then at the table full of snacks, and suddenly chuckled softly, "Did you come here on purpose to comfort me?"
His voice was very soft, and the room was very quiet, so quiet he could hear her breathing.
He looked down at her for a moment, then reached out and gently stroked her head. Her hair was very soft, giving off a soft feeling, just like her when she was asleep. "If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes."
"Thank you, Xiao Jing Jiang."
He paused, then added, "And goodnight, Xiao Jing Jiang."
...
Lin Jing opened her eyes and saw an unfamiliar ceiling. She was bewildered for a full minute before realizing she was in Sheng Kuang's room.
She immediately became alert and instinctively lifted the quilt to peek inside. Seeing that her clothes were still neatly on, she quickly sat up.
Where was Sheng Kuang?
She looked around before rolling out of bed. Her phone was on the table, still connected to the charger, and was now fully charged.
It was still early, just six o'clock. The doors to the bathroom and dressing room were all open, but there was no sign of Sheng Kuang. Lin Jing unplugged her phone, intending to go to the adjacent room where she used to live to freshen up and then look for Sheng Kuang. However, as soon as she opened the balcony door, she saw Sheng Kuang.
He was sitting on a chair on the balcony, playing a game.
Hearing the movement, he looked up: "Why are you awake so early?"
Lin Jing gave a sound of surprise: "I need to use the restroom."
After a moment, she added, "You didn't sleep? Or..."
The game ended, and a pop-up appeared on the game screen about the time limit for gaming to prevent addiction, prompting a logout. Sheng Kuang directly locked the screen. "I slept."
Lin Jing recalled the bed she woke up in; the other side was very flat, not like someone had slept there. "Where did you sleep?"
