The news of the marriage alliance between the Shang and Qin families quickly exploded in the port city, along with Qin Yige herself.
Shang Corporation
A red convertible sports car screeched to a halt in front of the company building, and a young girl alighted.
The security guards recognized her and immediately rushed forward: "Miss Qin."
Qin Yige, clutching her bag, stomped into the building: "I want to see that stinky mulberry... President Shang Sheng!"
For a moment, the security guard doubted his ears. Did he hear "stinky mulberry"? Was he mistaken?
He quickly regained his composure and made a gesture: "Miss Qin, please come in."
The security guard led her to the front desk, intending for the receptionist to take Qin Yige upstairs.
The secretary spoke politely: "Miss Qin, please wait a moment. I'll first check which floor President Shang is on."
This young lady was already a difficult guest; now that she was marrying President Shang, she would be their future madam. They had to treat her with utmost care.
"You ask."
The call was quickly answered. The secretary asked, "Secretary Chen, could you please tell me which floor President Shang is on? Miss Qin is here."
A moment later, the secretary hung up the phone, looking troubled as she spoke to Qin Yige: "Miss Qin, President Shang said—"
"What did he say?" Qin Yige's eyes widened, knowing it wouldn't be good news.
As expected—
"President Shang said that if there's no important matter, you should meet him through the normal procedure."
Normal procedure?
That meant making an appointment in advance, right?
Qin Yige suppressed her anger, trying hard to remain calm: "How far in advance do I need to book to see him?"
The secretary flipped through the appointment files and after a moment, gave her an exact time: "One month and 27 days from now."
The young girl didn't get angry but smiled instead, "President Shang is truly busy."
The secretary felt both anxious and embarrassed, only managing to agree: "Yes, after all, it's such a large company. Miss Qin, once you become President's wife..."
President's wife?
Qin Yige didn't make things difficult for the secretary and took out her phone to dial a number.
She took a deep breath, and by the time the call was connected, she had successfully adjusted her emotions. She spoke sweetly into the phone: "Hello, Grandma Shang, it's me, Yige."
Hearing her voice, Old Mrs. Shang was delighted: "Yige? My dear child, is there something you need from Grandma?"
"Grandma, there is a little something," Qin Yige said with a hint of grievance. "I came to discuss the wedding with Shang Sheng. He asked me to make an appointment, which I can do. But his appointment schedule is full for the next two months."
Old Mrs. Shang's expression changed upon hearing this, her eyes filled with anger. She still spoke kindly to comfort the young girl: "It's alright, Grandma will call Shang Sheng. Don't worry, Yige."
"Okay, Grandma, I'll trouble you then," she said obediently.
"Oh, we'll be family soon, so there's no need to talk about trouble. You wait, don't go anywhere."
"Understood, thank you, Grandma."
Less than a few minutes after hanging up, a man with a clear and noble demeanor, dressed in a white shirt, walked out of the elevator with a cold expression.
He was followed by his female secretary, Chen Ling, whose sharp and indifferent gaze swept across the surroundings, finally settling on the young girl sitting in the reception area.
The young girl was wearing a limited-edition, waist-cinching, knee-length goose-yellow dress today, making her slender waist look as if it could be held in one hand.
The receptionist brought her a cup of coffee. She thanked the receptionist and took a sip of the freshly brewed coffee, inhaling its aroma.
Shang Sheng sat directly opposite her, his legs crossed elegantly in his suit pants, his eyes calmly watching the girl opposite him.
Qin Yige acted as if she didn't see him, slowly taking a sip of her coffee under everyone's gaze.
Her demeanor was elegant and noble, truly befitting the youngest lady of the Qin family.
Five minutes passed like this. Chen Ling couldn't help but remind them: "Miss Qin, President Shang has an important meeting in ten minutes..."
Qin Yige raised her eyelids, glanced at Chen Ling, and smiled: "He has an important meeting, I can wait here for him. Let him be busy!"
Chen Ling could only look at the silent man. She was about to speak again, but upon encountering his gloomy expression, she closed her mouth.
A moment later, Shang Sheng finally spoke: "Upstairs!"
Qin Yige acted as if she hadn't heard him and continued to leisurely drink her coffee.
Knowing her well, Shang Sheng, after receiving no response from her, stood up from the sofa.
Just as both women thought he was about to leave, the man walked up to Qin Yige, taking the half-cup of coffee from her hand.
Not only that, but he bent down and scooped up the young girl, who was about to speak, into his arms.
Realizing his actions, Qin Yige's face instantly turned red. She suppressed the scream that was about to escape her lips and repeatedly hit his arm.
The man seemed unfazed. He adjusted his grip and strode towards the elevator.
Shang Sheng knew very well that he had to handle Qin Yige this way, otherwise, she could stand her ground with him until evening without yielding.
Even Chen Ling hadn't expected Shang Sheng to act like this. She stared in shock at the man holding the young girl in front of her. Then, she quickly regained her senses and hurried to catch up with him.
Constantly receiving puzzled and astonished glances from everyone, Qin Yige, her protests ineffective, simply covered her face with one hand and hid in Shang Sheng's embrace, preventing people from seeing her face.
However, this action was too late; everyone had already seen who she was.
Inside the president's private elevator, Qin Yige, sure that no one else was present, struggled to get down: "Shang Sheng, let me go!"
The man ignored her, his arms like iron chains, tightly holding her body.
He was like this all the time, with a stoic face, and speaking as if he charged for every word. Qin Yige was infuriated.
"I said, put me down! Shang Sheng, are you deaf!"
The voice of Miss Qin echoed in the elevator.
Chen Ling, standing to their right and front, glanced back at the girl acting unrestrained in Shang Sheng's arms, frowned slightly, and a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes.
As the elevator reached the 66th floor, Shang Sheng finally spoke: "You wanted to see me? Will you wait for me in the office, or come with me to the conference room?"
Any normal person knew they shouldn't disturb someone's work. Qin Yige understood this principle.
But she was angry, and she insisted on doing the opposite. Gritting her teeth, she wrapped her arms around his neck and said indignantly, "It's a meeting, so it's a meeting. You're not my boss, what am I afraid of?"
Shang Sheng's expression remained unchanged as he re-entered the elevator and instructed: "29th floor."
The conference room was on the 29th floor.
Chen Ling gasped and reminded him: "President Shang, this is a high-level meeting. How can you bring an outsider—"
Shang Sheng gave her a cold glance, saying nothing.
Chen Ling lowered her voice: "I'm sorry."
She immediately pressed the button for the 29th floor.
In the conference room, the executives stared in astonishment as the man walked in, especially when they saw the woman he was holding, and exchanged bewildered glances.
Shang Sheng placed the woman in his arms in the seat originally belonging to Secretary Chen Ling, and then took his seat at the head of the table.
Several executives recognized Qin Yige and nodded silently in greeting.
Qin Yige clearly heard someone whispering, "Is the future Mrs. Shang planning to rule from behind the curtain?"
