Chapter 56: The place where the treasure is

Chapter 56: The place where the treasure is

Cecily stood behind, staring at him as he walked away.

She was pensive about his response, but soon smiled and ran after him to catch up. This was a mission they had to do together.

Upon arriving in the western region, many people were causing a commotion, but they were being evicted. In the distance, Captain Garner was the one who came out to take the blows from the strongest, figuratively speaking.

"Do you know who has the treasure?" she asked after watching Mr. Roger and his men take care of evicting most of the people from the area.

They had agreed that the mission would begin in two hours, giving him time to eliminate the stubborn ones.

"Well, something like that," he said, smiling a little. "He’s close by."

"Really? Who is it?" She looked at him.

"A normal person. He’s on the run right now."

She looked shocked. "Running away? Wasn’t he in this area?"

"Haha, why do you think the plan is happening two hours later?"

"To give him time to clear out?"

"No." He shook his head. "Those two hours are so we can catch the thief. So we have two hours to do it," he said, taking out a dark suit that covered him completely.

He had prepared it to move when the time came. It was a dark suit commonly worn by assassins for better mobility. He put it on over his clothes so he could change when the time came.

"You mean we still have to go after him? I thought you already had him!" She exclaimed in shock as she watched him change.

"Hahaha, if I had him, the mission would have started without having to evict these idiots. Everything is solved once you have him, right?"

"Then..."

"Then you just need to help me, Cecily. You won’t go, I’ll go, but you’ll go with me," he replied after zipping up the magical suit.

She didn’t understand what he meant. "I won’t go, but I’ll go? What does that mean?" she asked, but then she frowned and remembered her puppets. "Do you mean...?"

"Yes. You’ll help me with your puppets. Do you have any puppets near the hospital?" he asked.

She nodded. "I do... I know where the leader and Samuel are, and I also see your brother... he seems to be approaching from the east," she said.

’Brandon? Moving east...’ Ryan frowned.

"How has Brandon been moving in the last hour?"

"He’s been moving steadily from north to east, getting closer and closer."

’I see.’ His eyes sparkled with curiosity. ’So this guy already knows it’s there, but he knows there are people watching him, so he’s moving cautiously, getting closer and closer.’

His heart raced noticeably. He had thought it would be easy to get it, but now those two hours had been drastically reduced to 30 minutes.

"Do as I say," Ryan said, putting on a special mask and tightening the bandages on his arm even more. "Send one of your puppets to follow me and have the rest carefully guard the hospital. Also, if possible, tell Martin that I may need help, and send him to my address."

After saying this, Ryan began to move. "Do that immediately, or we won’t have time. We only have 30 minutes." He immediately started running, leaving Cecily stunned.

"Didn’t you say we had two hours?" She frowned. She still didn’t understand where the treasure was, but she sighed. It wasn’t important for now, so she had to do what he told her.

’I already had something in you anyway, ’ she complained, returning to her position where she had no idea what to do.

’Tsk, I’d better go talk to the leader.’ She wrinkled her nose and left.

As he ran through the city, Ryan considered all the possibilities regarding the current situation and how Brandon might affect it if he decided to change the plot.

In all of them, he concluded that even if Brandon knew and tried to change it, as long as he got to the hospital before Brandon, then he would have the best chance of winning.

’The problem will be if he also gets there before I leave,’ he thought.

Thanks to the novel and its detailed explanations about the item, he understood how to feel it in this world.

This item had a very aggressive aura when a Walker held it, making it easy to find when stolen, which is one of the reasons why it could be stolen so easily.

But its aura changes dramatically to a very passive one when a normal civilian carries it, making it impossible for anyone to easily perceive it at those moments.

That’s why it was difficult to find in the novel; they were searching among the traitorous Walkers, when in reality, a normal civilian was fleeing with the item.

But despite this, when it is in the hands of a normal civilian, the item sends out signals in all directions occasionally.

Only certain special rooms, built with powerful spiritual electricity, can hide these signals.

In order to escape during the chase in the novel, the carrier had to use certain rooms inside several houses in the neighborhood of wealthy elderly people, especially in the western part, as these rooms had the spiritual energy that helped them hide those signals.

That’s why he needed that area. At this point, the treasure had already passed through those rooms, and if the plot followed its natural course, then the last meeting point would be the residential building where the Kazaks’ breach appeared.

The thing was that the residential building no longer existed; now there was a hospital.

He still hadn’t found the breach, so Ryan was sure that there was room for that purpose in that place.

And he didn’t need to think too much about it: it was in the basement, in the emergency room where Professor Sara had initially run to.

When Ryan returned to the hospital, he ignored the dead beasts around him and entered the white, ruined corridors.

He quickly descended the emergency staircase and soon reached the basement.

Luckily for him, the hospital’s security system was in ruins, so no door needed a key or spirituality to open.

He went through door after door until he came to one that made him frown.

Voices reached him from inside.

"We’ll be here for another 15 minutes. Help will be coming to take us out of the city."

’Good.’ Ryan smiled.

Something everyone had overlooked was that the signals sent by this item and retained by the halls were pure spirituality.

This is a spiritual item, one of those that can "refine" spirituality and contain spirits within it.

And spirituality... cannot be hidden from his gaze.
