Chapter 87: Mission

"Mithiril is the cure?" Abium showed a surprised look and soon nodded his head in understanding.

'No wonder Mithiril's price became so high during the Chaos Era. Mages must have known about its value.'

"Can I get some of this metal in exchange for my sword knowledge?" Abium didn't want to miss the chance and asked.

"You also need this metal?" Skaktak's blue fire eyes flickered as he stared at Abium in surprise and asked.

"Yes, Lord Skaktak. I've gained this sword knowledge from a master swordsman through inheritance. So, it's not a bad deal."

Skaktok went silent for a moment and soon agreed.

"I'll arrange for you to get a block of Mithril metal by tomorrow morning. It should be enough to create 5 to 6 long swords. Although it is a rare metal in the Undead Plane, it isn't as rare as one's sword knowledge."

Indeed, one's sword knowledge was always considered a top-secret, and it was forbidden to sell it in the form of transaction in Easica World.

'But I don't think I'll return to this plane in the future, so there is no harm in selling my sword knowledge to a skeleton.'

Moreover, he was planning on improving his swordsmanship in the future and making it to the realm of Grandmaster level. Once he achieves that feat, his current knowledge of swordsmanship would be useless to him.

While he was in deep thoughts, Skaktak returned to his throne, sat comfortably on it, and asked.

"Do you still want to go to the enemy's territory?"

Abium raised his eyebrows and fell into deep thoughts.

Although he had no idea what Goddess Nyara was scheming about, he was sure of one thing.

'Goddess Nyara might be fond of Umi but she would never care about a mortal's life. Umi may be her favorite pawn but not a family member. She is after something.' He suddenly sharpened his gaze towards Skaktok and asked.

"Even if we want to go to the enemy's territory, we have to do some kind of work for you, right? As soon as we entered the building, Grurdin mentioned something about Bone Tree and how powerful we are. You also used your spiritual power and checked our strength." He paused for a moment and added calmly.

"You need our help."

Abium thought that the Goddess needed something from these undead skeletons and was using them to accomplish her goal!

He knew of the Gods' restrictions on entering the mortal World and made a possible guess.

Meanwhile, the whole throne hall went into abrupt silence.

After a long silence, the Skeleton Lord raised his bony hands and clapped.

"Impressive."

Saying so, He hurriedly called the nearby skeleton soldier and spoke to him secretly.

Abium couldn't understand what they were discussing but guessed that it must be something to do with the current situation.

Once Skaktak finished his talking, that undead soldier stepped down from the dais and moved out of the hall at a quick pace.

Meanwhile, Skaktak turned his gaze towards Grurdin and spoke.

"Grurdin. You, Rit'zyk, and the Dead Keepers will help them to enter the Dead Land Pillar region and complete our mission."

Just as he spoke, the Dark Knight named Rit'zyk and some other skeletons entered the throne hall, moved towards the other side, and knelt in front of the throne.

"Your faithful servant is here to hear your orders, My Lord!" A thundering voice came from the Dark Knight and caused the whole hall to vibrate a little.

In the meantime, Skaktak nodded his skull and spoke in a booming voice.

"I want you to accompany this half-elf and others to the Dead Land pillar area and come back alive, my friend. It's an important mission."

Skaktak paused, turned his gaze towards Abium, and spoke.

"When you enter the Dead Land Pillar region, I want you to go to the Bone Tree region and place something on one of its branches. If you do that, my undead Knights will help you reach the 'Tower of Rebirth' and can even assist you with planar teleportation method."

Following Skaktak's speech, a few skeleton soldiers entered the room carrying a large square-shaped case and soon arrived at the hall's center.

It was a metal case with some lines around it. But as Abium took a closer look at it, he soon discovered that magic runes were inscribed all across those lines.

'An artifact?'

He returned his gaze to Skaktak, thought of something, and asked.

"What is this 'Bone Tree'?"

"You have to find that for yourself. But make sure to finish this work." Skaktak spoke and signaled the undead soldiers to put the sealed case on the rocky floor.

Meanwhile, the skeleton soldiers put that metal case down and retreated multiple steps.

Once they retreated 5 meters away from the case, Skaktak turned his gaze towards Abium and spoke.

"You can go ahead and open the case now."

Saying so, Skaktak took out a snake-symbol engraved golden bracelet from his space ring and threw it towards Abium.

After that, he stood up from his seat, stepped down from the bone throne, and soon arrived next to the other undead soldiers.

On the other hand, Abium caught the golden bracelet and arrived near the metallic case.

Then, he bent down a bit, injected a bit of his spirit power into the bracelet, and marked it with his imprint.

The next instant, a strange reddish cloud emerged from the bracelet, entered his mind in a blink, and released a memory.

'An incantation? But what is this strange language?' Although he didn't understand a word from the new memory cloud, he heard a familiar voice from it.

'It was the Ancient Mage Runeth's voice.' A flash of surprise appeared on his face.

He quickly calmed down, took out a kitchen knife from his space ring, and made a light cut on his forefinger.

Then, he raised his hand, let a drop of blood fall on the metallic case, and opened his mouth.

"The clouds that took water from the eastern sea climbed up with strength

and looked like rows of shields of armies belonging to kings with palm drums,

and sky-splitting lightning flashes appeared looking like flags hoisted on poles,

heavy rain fell at midnight with roaring, thunder on the tall mountains,

and bright, splendid waterfalls came down the next day,

breaking large bamboo, pushing the lovely wooden structure in the water tank,

and spreading up to the shores of the very huge reservoir in our town…."

He recited the chant for the next few minutes and placed the golden bracelet on the metallic case.

Once that bracelet touched that case, a magic spell formation appeared underneath and enveloped Abium and others.

Abium instantly felt an invisible power surrounding his body and soon imprinted a unique mark on his right wrist. The mark resembled more like a symbol of a dragon breathing fire and looked mysterious.

Before he could even take a closer look at the symbol, the case made a clicking noise and unlocked itself.

A second later, a glowing light came from the case and blinded everyone's vision!

No, Abium wasn't affected by the light at all. He quickly saw a beating heart made of white light inside and was stunned!

It was around the size of a human head and emitted a scorching heatwave in all directions!

What shocked him most was that this mere radiation dispelled all the chaotic energy residing in the building and purified the air itself.

"Amazing," Abium muttered slowly and closed the metal case.

While the light dimmed, Skaktak tapped the floor to grab everyone's attention and spoke.

"I have already explained everything to you. As long as you finish this mission, we will help you leave this plane."

Meanwhile, Abium nodded his head in understanding, touched the metal case, and tried to store it but couldn't.

Noticing his action, Skaktak shook his head firmly and responded.

"This is the Heart of a Light Dragon and could release dense elemental fluctuation all the time. So, it's impossible to store it inside any space ring. Maybe some Legendary Mages could do it, but not us. Anyway, we have no choice but to carry it towards the Bone Tree using normal method. Moreover, only you guys can carry it from now on."

"Because I unsealed the metal case?" Abium asked in a startled tone.

"Yes. Although it's not impossible to seal it again, it would take more time. But I don't want to waste any minute."

At that moment, the gigantic Dark Knight Rit'zyk took a step forward, made a guess, and asked.

"My Lord, are you saying that the Heart left behind by Lord As'zus could purify the Bone Tree? But why didn't you tell us beforehand?"

Skaktak snorted coldly and spoke.

"This is a powerful Light Dragon's Heart and can purify everything. To make things worse, we, the Undead Race, are more like the enemies of the light. So, you can guess why we never informed anyone about it. If you try to get near it, it will not only purify your bones but will also disintegrate your souls."

Then, he shifted his gaze to Abium and others and continued. Fınd the newest release on novelfire(.)net

"But they can. Lord As'zus got this 'Heart' as a gift from an Ancient Mage named Runeth and informed all the Skeleton Lords about this gift before he became crazy. I have a feeling that Lord As'zus might've predicted these visitors' arrival and given it to me."
