Chapter 210: Power of Luck

'Why didn't you say that earlier?' Abium almost shouted inside his mind.

'It's because I was created that way, kid. My creators created it in a way so that I could act more like a human. Sometimes, I forget to tell a few things, and that's how I'm special from other artificial spirits.' Azolla said with a low tone and then continued.

'As for those two spells, the first one is just a zero-tier spell called 'Soul Catcher,' and it can allow the wielder to enslave low mortal souls. You can even use this spell to control one or two undead skeletons. The corresponding first-tier spell is called Soul Bind. Like the other one, it could allow the artifact wielder to enslave the dead spirits for some time. That's it. There are no second-tier spells.' After hearing her explanation, Abium breathed a sigh of relief and nodded in understanding.

'With this, I might have an easy time infiltrating the Order of the Dead organization's secret meeting.'

After a while, Abium stealthily walked out of his house and moved in the northern direction.

After an hour of walking, Abium arrived near the seven-meter tall city wall and started climbing up using a crossbow and a rope. Although a few guards stood up on the city wall, he managed to evade their eyes and reached the other side of the city wall. After that, he moved further away from the city and entered the woods.

After Abium arrived at a secluded area, he quickly took out Baxter's corpse and placed it on the ground.

Then, he also took out the cursed pendant, imprinted it with his spirit power, and started to cast the first tier spell.

A second later, the surrounding area turned chilly, and soon he noticed a transparent figure floating near him.

It was none other than Baxter's ghost form!

'Is he always moving along with me?' Abium drew a deep breath and asked Azolla.

'His soul still hasn't entered the Eternal River of Life, kid. If someone died, their soul would stay in this world for a few hours near their bodies. Even if you put it inside the spatial ring, their soul will always stay near to it. We call this period the 'Revival Moment.' During this time period, people could use resurrection spells on the dead people and revive them back.' She responded.

'But what about that guy named Lord Nezad? Necromancer Yozis mentioned in the letter that he came back from the dead, though.' Abium asked in puzzlement.

'It's like cheating death, kid. In the past, maybe due to some reasons, that guy's body must have obliterated. So, he split a part of his soul and placed it in this world and moved his original soul to the Underworld.'

'Underworld?' Abium asked with a surprised face. In truth, this was the first time he had heard about such a place name.

'It's the same as Abyss and Hell. That place is filled with undead creatures and is one of the ten known Supreme Planes. Back to the topic, Nezad must have stayed in that plane for all these years and waited for a new host. When Bilet died, he used some type of taboo spell to cheat the reincarnation cycle and came back from the Underworld.' She spoke in a solemn tone. At the same time, Abium noticed that Baxter's transparent form started to materialize before him and bowed respectfully.

'Heh, is this Soul Bind spell's enslaving effect?' His lips curved upward.

Without wasting time, Abium started asking more questions about Baxtor's past and memorized all the information for the next two hours. Unlike the last time, Baxter's soul told every info and even revealed some information about the Order of the Dead Organization.

"Now, I have one last question for you. Why did you try to create problems for me? Who told you to enslave my soul?" Abium asked coldly.

A hesitation appeared on Baxter's face.

Soon, he spoke without having any other choice.

"It's a request from an unknown guy. He wore a black hood and gave off a dangerous aura around himself." Baxter paused for a second and continued with a hint of fear on his face. "He said that he is the controller of Fate."

As he finished those words, Baxter's transparent figure froze for a second and started to disappear from there, leaving Abium in a dumbfounded state.

'Who is that hooded guy? Also, he controls fate? Azolla, do you know what it means?' Abium asked hurriedly.

'Hmm, it means he must have a Fate Divinity. From the looks of it, he also appears to be aware that you have a divinity in your body.' Her words made his hair stand on his back.

Without minding his shocked face, she continued.

'But he also appears to be afraid of you. He didn't come close to you and only contacted you using a video communication spell… Strange, why is he targeting you?' Azolla muttered in a confused tone.

'Isn't it because he wants my divinity?' Abium responded while storing Baxter's dead body back in his spatial ring.

'No, kid. I don't think so. I heard that the Time and Fate power are polar opposite, and even the Gods of those two domains acted like arch-enemies. Well, let me give you an example as to why they act like that. For example, Fate and Destiny Gods always want to control the future. They weave the Fate threads of each and every person and guide them to the most possible destined future. But the 'Time' Gods like Udnir always break these Fate and Destiny threads and create a unique future. Like fire and water, these two sides won't mingle together. You did hear lady Nayra's words, right? If not for her interference, you might have long been perceived as a threat by the Destiny Goddess and eliminated.' Azolla's reply made Abium realize the seriousness of the situation. Suddenly, he thought of something and asked curiously.

'So, who will win if there is a fight between Fate and Time?'

'It always depends on luck-' Abruptly, Azolla stopped talking.

After a short silence, a burst of laughter echoed inside his mind.

'Haha, now I get it. That hooded elven guy is after the 'Luck'!' Her words puzzled Abium.

'What do you mean?' He asked with a frown.

'Do you still remember the strange lightning strike when you were battling against the Silver Knight?' Azolla asked all of a sudden.

At that moment, Abium's expression also turned serious. Indeed, he still felt that the strange lightning was due to some mysterious force.

'You mean it was due to Luck? But I don't have any power of Luck, right?' Abium felt clueless. But after a second, he thought of something and quickly took a small palm-sized stone tablet from his spatial ring.

It was the stone tablet that Lily stole from Demon Susur's spatial ring!

'Now, you get it? He is after this stone. Although I don't know how to activate this mysterious stone, I'm 90 percent sure this stone must have the power of Luck.' Azolla said with an energetic voice.

'Is it divinity?' Abium knitted his eyebrows.

'No idea, kid. These divine powers are mysterious and are very hard to find. Take this stone tablet as an example, this stone wielder can become a lucky person in many ways, but there will always be side effects to these types of power and might attract some gods' attention. From what I can understand, this stone tablet seems to be borrowing your enemies' good Luck to boost your own, leaving them as unlucky. That pitiful silver knight, and that death mage girl named Aliza you hated,' Azolla stopped for a second and continued.

'I think Watson, Bilet, Baron Harry and his family members might also be affected by this stone.' Her explanation made Abium stunned.

Abium soon realized the might of the 'Luck' stone's power and felt fearful.

After calming himself down, Abium had another question.

'But how did he know I have the stone tablet?… Wait! He showed me a video of me, Sarah, and Lily battling against that snake demon and threatened me to do a favor for him. So, he watched me from the very beginning, huh? Now that I think about it, what if this whole king's assassination and demon's infiltration were really under his schemes?' A chill ran down his spine as he thought of such a possibility.

'Once I deal with these necromancers, I will definitely bump into him in one way or another. I have to make some preparations.' Abium turned gloomy inside and soon returned to the city without alerting any guards.

After he returned to Black Street, Abium went to his house and entered his bedroom.

There were many questions in his mind, but he knew that thinking over those things would do no good.

'I should get some sleep.' He lay on the soft bed and soon fell into a deep sleep.
