In a blink, Lavada arrived behind Gibson and thrust her dagger at his shoulder.
But soon, her expression went stiff.
"Why is there no blood coming out of his wound?" She knitted her eyebrows.
After a second, she also noticed that there was no elemental energy appeared around Gibson's body!
'Why is he not using elemental energy? Is this some necromancy spell?' An uneasy feeling arose in her heart.
As she blocked another attack from Gibson, Lavada shouted towards Brink quickly.
"Something is wrong with him, darling. He is not using any elemental energy."
"I don't think he is still alive, Lavada. Just kill him." Nelson glanced back towards their fight and said while shaking his head.
"Nelson, Watch your tongue. If you say one more word, I will slit your throat." She angrily roared at him and once again moved closer to Gibson.
But this time, she used her dagger hilt and knocked him out.
As Gibson tried to get up from the ground, Lavada took the robe from her backpack and tied him up.
"It will do the work." She said with a worried look and shifted her gaze towards the other pirates.
Meanwhile, Murius looked at the pirate groups from the tower's entrance door and creased his brows.
'They are doing good against hundreds of undead elite skeletons. Tch, I don't have many high-tier undead skeletons to waste on these morons.'
'If I want to kill all of them without using my trump cards, I have no choice but to drain their energy out slowly.' Murius soon took out another hundred elite skeletons from his spatial ring and started to cast a necromancy spell.
They all rose from the ground like an army of soldiers and stood like mighty warriors.
Murius gazed at them and let out a cold laugh.
Meanwhile, the pirates with the 3-rd tier warrior strength and above had grouped and started killing the elite skeletons.
After an hour of battling, the group finally managed to wipe out all the hundred undead skeletons and shouted joyfully.
Huff!
"Ugh, I didn't expect there would be so many casualties in this mission." Nelson panted heavily and grievously muttered.
"Don't worry, my friend. Their sacrifices will not be in vain." Brink spoke in a gloomy tone and slowly shifted his gaze towards the three-layered magic tower ahead of them.
At that moment, he noticed that the metallic door of the magic tower was tightly shut from the inside and furrowed.
Meanwhile, Nelson also followed his gaze and asked.
"Did the necromancer shut himself inside the tower after seeing our mighty force?"
"I don't think he will surrender without a fight."
Brink looked at his left side and saw Lavada walking closer to him.
But instead of happiness, he saw sorrow in her eyes.
"How is Gibson?" He asked.
"No physical response after I tied him with those ropes. I-I also didn't sense his pulse." She bit her lips in frustration and cried.
"So, he died, huh?" Anger swelled up in Brink's heart.
He began to hate the newly titled baron and the necromancer.
'If the Baron hadn't sent that letter, I wouldn't have come to this hellish place with my crewmates.' His heart ached whenever he looked at the corpses in the yard.
He took a deep breath, shifted his gaze towards his trusted friend, and asked.
"How many lost their lives in this battle, Nelson?"
"Around 70 members. All of them are second-tier and first-tier warriors." Nelson spoke in a weary tone and was about to take the water pouch from his backpack but suddenly paused.
Then, he turned his face grimly and quietly shifted his head towards the Magic tower entrance.
Clatter! Clatter! Clatter!
'Footsteps?' His eyes squinted sharper.
Creaaakkkk!
A loud metallic creaking sound came from inside, along with a clanging sound.
A second later, the metallic door opened with a band and showed an entrance to hell.
"H-Holy God of the Sea!!" Lavada shouted with a trembling voice while others took two steps backward.
Like an army, another hundred elite undead skeletons marched from the tower in unison. They wielded swords, daggers, or spears in their hands and uniformly advanced in their direction.
A trace of panic could appear on everyone's face. Without any delay, Brink raised his weapon and shouted.
"Don't panic. Third-tier warriors and above-tier warriors should step forward and come with me. We will deal with these undead skeletons." He shifted his gaze towards Nelson and nodded at him.
At that moment, a brown-haired lady standing near Nelson gripped her scimitar tightly and spoke.
"From my early observation, I can tell that these skeletons are not capable of using any elemental energy. So, we have an advantage against these skeletons."
As she spoke, intense icy energy started forming around her body and completely enveloped her scimitar.
"Thanks for the information, Zita." Nelson nodded at her and shouted.
"Attack!"
Another battle started in the well-fortified magic tower, leaving no room for any pirates to even rest a bit.
By the time the pirates finished killing the skeletons of the second wave, it was already noon. The scorching sun had already appeared above their heads and made all the pirates' energy drain.
"We survived!" A middle-aged pirate shouted with a happy face as he decapitated the final elite skeleton and shouted in joy.
But soon, he shivered in fear.
Clatter! Clatter! Clatter!
Everyone's expression turned completely white as they heard marching footsteps from the tower's entrance.
Although only five pirates died in the second wave, many of them got severely injured and were already on the verge of collapsing.
"I don't want to die here!" A low mutter came from Zita as she saw the numbers.
"That Keith didn't say anything about a large undead army hiding in this tower." Lavada stood beside Brink with a pale face and shouted furiously.
"I don't think he knows this necromancer's real strength." Brink threw a leather water bottle towards Lavada and glanced back at the wooden gate.
At that moment, he noticed that a total of 3 tall knights with black armor stood there like mighty guardians, blocking the others from walking near it.
"Nelson, our only option now is to kill those three undead knights and get out from here." Brink said in a solemn tone.
"What about that necromancer?" A visible hatred and killing intent appeared in Lavada's eyes as she glared at the pale-faced hooded man who stood at the tower's entrance.
"It's impossible to kill him, Lavada. We don't know what that necromancer is hiding in that tower." Nelson shook his head firmly.
"Captain, they are coming! Get ready." Zita urged Nelson to focus on the enemy and readied herself.
"Brink, you and Lavada should go and handle those three undead knights. Meanwhile, we will try to hold off these remaining skeletons."
"Gotcha." Brink and Lavada nodded at each other and sprinted towards the wooden gate.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Without wasting time, both attacked the three death knights like mad fellows.
Brink blocked the attacks while Lavada started dealing more damage to the bones.
After a long struggle, both managed to kill one of the three of those death knights and let out a sigh of relief.
But during that time, a massacre happened in the yard.
Panic cries and screams, mixed with anger and hatred towards the necromancer, resounded in the yard.
CREAAKKK! Bam!
Finally, after an hour of continuous struggle, Brink and Lavada managed to kill the other two death knights and open the wooden gate.
"Everyone, we opened the gate. Come on!" Lavada shouted towards the other pirates and ran out of the fortified wall.
Meanwhile, other pirates backed away from the yard and moved towards the exit.
Alas, not a single one showed any sign of happiness or excitement.
In this battle, they had lost more than 170 to 180 pirates and were already on the verge of falling due to exhaustion.
"Captain, Let's go." Zita and another white-haired young lady grabbed Nelson, who almost looked like there was no color on his face, and backed away.
Multiple wounds appeared all over his body, and half of his right ear was nowhere to be seen.
At that moment, scarlet blood dripped down from his ear and almost covered the right side of his body.
"huff, huff, 'Cough!' Zita, Did you count how many crew members lost their lives?" He asked with a pained face.
"Don't worry, captain. Except for John, no one died from the elite team." Upon hearing her words, he breathed a sigh of relief and closed his eyes.
"Captain!!" A white-haired lady with pale skin grabbed him with both arms and cried out in panic.
"Don't worry, Ursula. He just lost his consciousness due to exhaustion. Let's get the hell out from here." Zita grabbed Nelson's left arm and dashed towards the exit while carrying him.
In a few seconds, the remaining 80 pirates exited the fort and breathed out with a relieved sigh as they inhaled the fresh air.
But Brink and Lavada stopped their footsteps and stood there like frozen statues.
"What happened, Captain Brink?" Rowley, who placed Gibson's body on his shoulder, walked closer to Brink and asked in a startled tone.
"Where did the 20 members who stayed outside to guard the ships go?" Lavada asked as she gripped her dagger tighter and glanced around.
But only trees, vines, white sand, and empty ships appeared before her.
