Chapter 72: The Rain Season Mission

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: The Rain Season Mission

"Don’t say that! Su Qinglan knows how to control fire...she even cooks better than anyone!" one beastman shouted. "She found so many new food items. If this is not a blessing, then what is?"

More and more beastmen nodded in agreement. Their voices rose as they discussed among themselves.

Still, a few were not satisfied.

"How can a weak female be blessed by the Beast God?" someone argued loudly. "She still needs protection from her beast husbands. It must be Hu Yan or one of her husbands who’s blessed!"

That comment immediately sparked anger. Rong Ye’s expression darkened. The next second, someone from the crowd punched the one who spoke, and a small fight broke out.

The area filled with noise and arguments.

But among all this chaos, the happiest person was Su Mingxuan, the tribe leader of the Fox Tribe... Su Qinglan’s father.

He stepped forward with a wide smile and tears of pride in his eyes.

"Lan Lan," he said loudly, his voice filled with emotion, "is this true? Were you really blessed by the Beast God?"

Su Qinglan looked at him quietly.

She didn’t know if she was really blessed by any god, but she did have the system, and she did have special powers. And why did she feel like the priest had intentionally given her this opportunity?

If the priest had given her this chance, she would never let it slip away.

So she nodded calmly and said, "Yes."

Her father’s eyes shone even brighter. "Then tell me, my child, did the Beast God teach you all these things?"

Su Qinglan thought for a moment, then nodded again. "Yeah."

The moment she said it, the entire tribe erupted.

Su Qinglan did not deny anything.

It was a good thing. If she accepted it, more people would believe her. And if they believed her, then they would understand why she had awakened her healing power and helped the tribe so many times.

This way, they wouldn’t see her as some strange or dangerous person.

So when the crowd looked at her with wide eyes, waiting for her to explain, Su Qinglan smiled softly and said,

"I don’t know if it was really the Beast God or not. But one day, I woke up feeling very fresh and strange. And when I looked around, I just... knew things. Like someone had already taught me before."

Her words made everyone whisper again. The way she said it made it sound even more convincing.

She did it on purpose.

She knew if she made it sound too clear, people would start asking useless questions like, How does the Beast God look? or Did he talk to you? Does he look like them? and so on...

She didn’t want to fall into that trap. It was better to keep things confusing and mysterious.

And the result was just what she hoped for.

Many beastmen nodded in awe. Some even looked at her with respect. "The Beast God really blessed her!" one said.

Su Qinglan’s lips curved slightly. Good, she thought. Let them believe that.

She knew very well that in this tribe, if she didn’t make her position strong, no one would truly listen to her. Especially when the old witch doctor was still around.

That old man...she had seen the look in his eyes.

When the priest called her "the blessed child," the witch doctor’s face had gone dark. His eyes were filled with not just anger, but something much more dangerous.

It was killing intent.

Su Qinglan had seen that kind of look many times back in the apocalypse. The kind that meant, You have something I want to destroy.

Her fingers curled slightly. She didn’t even need to guess; she already knew he would not let her live peacefully.

He would definitely create trouble for her again.

And she had a strange feeling. That hatred in his eyes didn’t come just from today. It felt deeper, as if it had existed even before she came into this world.

Maybe it was connected to the original owner of this body.

Whatever it was, it didn’t matter now. Now she and the original owner were the same. And she was sure of one thing...whatever hatred this witch doctor had for the original owner, she would not let him succeed.

Becase most importantly, she was carrying cubs inside her. Her safety was the most important thing.

Finally, she was going to have her own family, she would not allow anyone to ruin it.

When the crowd became too excited and bombarded Su Qinglan with many questions, Hu Yan finally stepped forward.

His calm but firm voice echoed among the people, "Alright, that’s enough for now. Everyone, go and start preparing for the rainy season. It will be more severe this time."

Rong Ye also nodded in agreement.

"Yes, let’s not waste time. The priest’s words are never wrong. We should all start preparing as soon as possible."

Hearing their words, everyone finally remembered the danger. The excitement on their faces slowly turned into worry.

The mention of the "rainy season" made many of them pale.

Last year, even with normal rain, some caves had flooded and several food storages were washed away. If what the priest said was true—that this season would bring chaos—then the tribe had to prepare quickly.

The beastmen started to move one after another, whispering to each other as they went back to their caves.

Hu Yan didn’t wait any longer. He held Su Qinglan’s hand gently and said,

"Let’s go back too."

She nodded, still feeling a little dazed after what had just happened.

Rong Ye walked beside them silently while the crowd slowly scattered behind.

As they walked through the forest path toward their cave, the cool evening wind brushed against Su Qinglan’s hair. She looked up at the cloudy sky and thought about what the priest had said.

Endless water... chaos...

She had seen floods back in her old world, but those were human cities, which had tall buildings and walls.

Here in the beast world, everything was wild and raw. If the heavy rain really came, the caves in the lower ground would be the first to flood, and the basic necessities of living would be destroyed.

Her brows furrowed slightly. This could be very bad.

Just as she was thinking about it, a familiar sound rang in her head...

"Ding!"

Her steps froze for a moment.

Then came the sweet and cheerful voice of Xuyu.

"Congratulations, Host! You have unlocked a new side mission..."

"Help the tribe build housing in the upper area of the mountain before the rainy season begins!"

Su Qinglan blinked in surprise.

Another mission?

Xuyu continued in a proud tone,

"Completing this mission will earn you a booklet for creating items from bamboo and bonus reward items to construct a mud house!"

Su Qinglan let out a small sigh. "You could’ve at least warned me earlier," she muttered under her breath.

But inside, she felt a little relieved.

If the system was giving her this mission, it meant she had a way to protect her family.

She looked toward the mountain ahead. The upper area was steep and covered in thick trees, but it was safe from floods.

Her eyes slowly lit up with determination.

"This time," she whispered softly, "we’ll build something that no rain can destroy."

Hu Yan turned his head slightly, hearing her voice. "What did you say?"

Su Qinglan smiled faintly and shook her head. "Nothing. Just thinking about where to start first."
