Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Ditched
Three weeks passed, whole three weeks of listening to this thing talk, Ved was mentally drained and he could barely focus on anything.
He hadn’t had an single second of sleep, while he can go long periods without sleep it’s still good for one’s health, sleeping regenerate your mental energy faster.
However the worst part is that his hunting success dropped. He couldn’t focus on his prey and because the spear doesn’t use will transmission but talks outloud and loudly at thar6 it scares the prey away.
Combined with it aura which it refuses to hide, every single potential prey runs away before they could even get close to them and Ved didn’t have the energy to chase after them.
And he has had enough.’ By the great gods would you SHUT UP?’ He shouted. " That is very rude of you, after I went out of my way to share the greatness of my holder with you, you ungrateful ugly lowly beast."
Ved didnt have the energy to retort to it insults. ’ Please just shut up I really need to rest.’
It scoffed, " And why would I do that? You’re not my master beast, don’t think too highly of yourself, be grateful I’m even telling you about my holder and our glorious adventures."
Ved sighed, he was really vexed then it dawned on him, it couldn’t move on it own, he had almost forgotten that.
He untied it from his back and dropped it in the sea. " Ey what are you doing?" He turned around and swam away as it sank to the bottom of the sea.
" Come back here right this very moment beast I command you." He ignored it. " Please come back I’m sorry, I will keep quiet I promise on my holder’s grave."
He ignored it completely and it voice grew fainter and fainter. He stopped a few kilometres away from it, sunk to the ocean floor and slept under a rock.
Hours passed and he woke up refreshed for the first time in weeks. There was no annoying voice constantly buzzing in his ears.
Without the spears distraction it was time for some mad hunting. He kicked off the ground picking up a cloud of dust underwater.
His body shot out like a missile. He opened his giant mouth wide and before some unfortunate rank 1 fish could react it was already devoured.
He continued cutting through the water eating every unfortunate fella that was unlucky enough to be in his path like he was a certain snake.
He swam for tens of kilometres then he felt multiple aura gathered around each other. He went there and hundreds of metres away from him were two groups facing each other.
On one side were sharks, nearly 30 of them and on the other were 4 dolphins. Two adults and two young ones.
Ved was going to stand back and watch to fish in muddy waters but when he sensed the dolphins auras clearly he felt they were spiritual beasts.
And when he looked closely he saw the fear in their eyes, the female and the two kids were hiding behind the bigger male, the female seemed pregnant.
The male was riddled with bite wounds but it still glared at it opponents defiantly. The sharks continued circling around them, two of the sharks were rank 3 like the male dolphin and the rest were impressively enough all rank 2.
They too were spiritual beasts and they stared at the dolphins mockingly. Ved saw the cruelty in their eyes and the pleasure from tormenting their prey and it made him sick.
It reminded him of his own killer, that maniacal smile he had as he drove a knife through his heart.
In rage he lunged at them. Before either party could react he was already between them, he glared at the sharks with anger and transmitted his voice.
’ Leave here and I promise to spare your lives.’
they got vigilant when they heard his voice but when they sensed his aura they relaxed.Even the relieved expressions on the dolphins eyes disappeared, their hope vanished. Ved had sealed his aura so he must’ve appeared weak to them.
They couldn’t use will transmission but he was able feel their feelings and they were simple.
They refused to leave, they wanted to eat the family of dolphins and him. He sighed. ’ Then so be it.’ He attacked first.
His strings danced in the water, before any of them could react he drew tens of thin gashes on their bodies, the sea sea turned red from blood.
In only a moment he had attacked all of them at the same time, while his strings were weaker underwater they were still enough to deal with creatures of this level.
However even though their wounds looked ghastly none of them were lethal. Ved’s feelings towards spiritual beasts were complex.
He couldn’t bring himself to kill them, he knew it was hypocritical after killing so many creatures but he still couldn’t do it.
He saw them the same way he saw humans, while he understood they could be cruel and evil they were also complicated creatures with different personalities.
He knew they could feel things beyond their instincts, they felt sadness and sorrow, sympathy, fear. Every feelings humans had, they had.
So to him killing something as intelligent as a human would be like killing a human and that made him feel uncomfortable, let alone eating them.
Growing up Ved was a bit dark, he didn’t have anybody who cared for him so he didn’t care one bit about others as well until he met her, it’s because of Naledi’s influence that he gained a compassion even death couldn’t get rid off.
It’s the reason years ago he didn’t kill the mouse with babies after digging it out. Had it not been for her maybe he would’ve been the killer Holding the knife.
’ Scram before I change my mind.’ he saw the fear and hatred in their eyes but they still turned around and left as fast as they could but not before their leader gave him the most hateful glare.
Even though Ved knew that logically he should kill them, not only for points but to remove a potential enemy he still couldn’t bring himself to, a part of him denied that very thought. ’ Damn you Naledi, you made me weak.’
Then he turned his attention to the dolphin family. ’ Now then, what to do with you?’
